My, what a session tonight! 6 players and a very good connection, thanks to two stations with two players. Simply amazing. And the fun we had with six people laying bombs and shooting quakes and plasmas. http://pretep.konzole-slovenija.com/...con_amazed.gif
Poor Rapier Racer, you exploded so many times It even made me feel sorry. http://pretep.konzole-slovenija.com/...on_petting.gif
So sorry, I really had to join the blow-up club, first courtesy of Asa, but just as I was about to win the last tour (with Asa horsing around in a previous race, but still), a suicide bombing from MrX blasted both me and him from first and second place. WTF!?!? http://pretep.konzole-slovenija.com/..._disbelief.gif http://pretep.konzole-slovenija.com/...s/icon_mad.gif
Haha.
God, there is so much drama in a race with 6 persons. Next session, I think I'll rather try to join Mr.X and play at his place again. It's so much better playing and chatting at the same time - it really brought back memories of the glorious PSX linkup days. :frown:
+ it reduces lag http://pretep.konzole-slovenija.com/...yperactive.gif
Great session and thanks again to all who joined. http://pretep.konzole-slovenija.com/...icon_china.gif

I concur, this 128k upload is my downfall :\
-
Next time in Kai I won't be out to win races.........:bomb
-
would that be tomorrow/later tonight?
PS> just found out what my upload speed is - it's not 1024+ sadly:frown: It is 300+ Kb/sec, download speed is 1400+
-
Is anyone there now? I'm using it for the first time, so...

Oh, god, two sick Kai sessions in a row. Last night, it was, Mr.X, Rapier Racer, Q_DMC and Sausehuhn and tonight, it was royal rumble, with Asa, Dag, Vic, another player there (sorrry, I forgot) and Mr.X. Just 3 connections meant practically no lag, which for a fight of 6 persons was Pure awesomeness. :hyper
We played only on Venom speed to accomodate newer players, but the games turned up so much more exciting than I thought they would. :clap
The slow pace would probably bore some Phantom TT addicts, but with 6 players it was a great chance to have some shooting fun and learn general combat strategies (in that aspect, Asa is freaking Sun Tzu - first softening me with misilles, overtaking me, then instead of trying to extend his lead, driving just infront of me, snatching all the items, making sure I get no energy refill, then, finally finding the item he needs, letting me pass and shoot me in the back for the kill. :o
It would have taken me years to notice such finesse on Phantom, but here it was much clearer. Top stuff!.. which also came in handy later. http://www.konzole-slovenija.com/for...con_fiufiu.gif)
Oh, and then the sick Descension tourney. If only I had the PSP2TV, I'd record it and accelerate the video to make it look phantom speed, then watch it every morning to start the day well. Unbeliveable.
And Asa boasts such admirable sportsmanship - congratulating me on plasming him out (it was just the beginning of the pain, though... Mr.X http://www.konzole-slovenija.com/for.../icon_evil.gif). A sorry ass loser like me would curse so loud people could hear me in France. :turd
But yeah, that was another lesson. :banzai
Anyway, fantastic session. I was a bit worried about skill difference ruining it for newer or experienced player when they mix, but now I can't wait for our local wlan Wipeout introduction session next week. If possible, we'll try connecting to Kai too, so stay tuned for some 8-player goodness (hopefully). :rock

LOL! well written and I`m glad you have enjoyed it!
Looks like I will play tonight with my box of stellas!;)
stevie:)
-
yeah perfectly described mate : you should be promoted as OUR Kai international journalist ;)
After an one week WZ & Kai break due to personnal reasons it was a pleasure to visit, Dag & me, Vic and his Bro' POI in Evreux ( 120 kms from Le havre ) we started a session at 4 and eventually connected to kai and met Kekken & MrX for a truly amazing fight.
My poor AG suffered a lot at the end of that Descension Chaos !
Brilliant slovenian win with KKN Goldmember:beer and Mrx for the silver one.
I had bronze, vic 4th , Dag 5th and Poi last but he has discovered wipeout only last night
I ll be online tonight but very late not before 3 am ( new CET hour )
-
very funny session :D . with asa, vic, poi, kekken, and Mrx.
the slovenian team was very fast and particullary aggressive with the poor asa's ag system (:bomb ).
in venom, the fight is the key of the success : i was many times in energy critical, due to the bombs, mines, plasmas....it was difficult to have some time records in such a battle field !!!
i play football tomorow, so i won't be on kai tonight, but i hope see you next week.

Who would have ever expected that our wonderful, enthusiastic, joyful, friendly Arnaud would turn out to be such a calculating killer in online games? ;D
-
you better believe it ;)
one thing about Asa`s strategy is that where there is a choice of speed pad or weapon pad, because of their alignment, he almost always takes the weapon pad. As Kekken says, this is defensive as well as offensive: don`t let the chasing ship tool up to shoot you. How many times on Vineta K have I pursued him down the main straight, he goes left for the weapon pad, picks up and switches it off briefly, so I go right for the boost pad, overtake and BOOM.
He hits more weapon pads than most people, basically, and the other trick Asa uses is to always recycle weapons quickly. If you don`t have an opportunity to blast someone in the next few seconds, absorb. Use turbos at the first opportunity where it won`t be suicidal. Even if there is a much better turbo place coming up, before you get there you will pick up more weapons which you can use to your advantage, and which you wouldn`t have got had you held the turbo. It puts distance between you and the other ships and reduces the risk of getting shot, and often you will even pick up another turbo en route. Missiles and quakes can tempt you into holding them for a long time, but the only exceptions to the quick recycling rule are race-winning auto pilots like on Sebenco Peak, safety quakes and turbos on the last lap of a race when you are winning, and desperate bomb strategies such as at the final jump on Sinucit, where you can cause someone ahead of you to lose up to 6 or 7 seconds on the next lap, if you place it right.

I'll DEFINITELY get my connection to Kai sorted next week, I'm missing the feeling of getting my arse bombed to kingdom come ;)
-
Woah. Brutal races today. The first batch was fun but sadly compromised by substantial lag. After some tourneys with poor Sausehuhn suffering lag, bombs, plague and kitchen sinks, I was left alone in a cage of scary monsters. :paperbag
Lunar, Asa and RRacer played at such a high pace that it'll simply force me to pickup TT/free race and train to get better - something I've not really planned to do, but it's becoming inevitable with such flying ninjas. :robot
I did my best but something ugly always happened, and the most I've seen after four laps was RRacer's trail. :cold
Better times came for me on the last Delta tour though. It was a Fat-fest with my Tigron, two Triakis (what's the plural of that?!? Triaki?!?) and Lunar with "just" a 4-shield Goteki. I thought to myself "teehe, weak ship.. it's gonna explode". More in joke than not. After some really tight races I was still last, but statistics prevailed and it actually happened - poor Lunar exploded, giving me the bronze. :beer
So the lesson for today is: fat saves :mr-t
-
I think you meant Lunar who use Goteki 1945 ship! (the likes of world fastest indian;)) and I always use Auricom and did played last night but I have not played phantom for months!:o and guess who won on Alpha? ;)
stevie:D
-
Yes it was me doing the fireworks :paperbag with Rapier Racer lighting the fuse and doing most of the damage until I`m thinking "if I hit a bomb now I`m...... :o......... oh :bomb" C`est la vie.
Haven`t been on kai for a few weeks, so last night was double-electrifying. Couldn`t sleep for ages, and now I`m shattered. :)
-
Last night was, mixed for me, still the fun prevails! Anybody going to be on today?
-
Oh, sorry, Stin and Lunar - 3-letter names in game, different nicks in Kai, then forum nicks and finally real names all at a time often makes me mix up everything. :dizzy
Will correct the previous post.
About tonight, I'm not really sure, but probably MrX will want to get some action he missed yesterday.
-
Stephen spk described my strategy perfectly well , you only missed the 'Chance Factor' i have sometimes to get the right weapon at the right moment. And Yes Lance i ve got 2 facets héhé :banzai .
Count me in for tonight mates :coffee
-
no problem Kekken it`s understandable ;)
just to clear things up a bit we have:
Stevie aka Stin
Stephen aka lunar aka spk
Stephen aka Rapier Racer formerly known as Assegai Developments
Stephane aka Del_Stepho
hope that helps:blarg
;)
