Dogg, while I agree that the Triakis probably isn't the ideal ship for that (I can't actually tell what I'm looking at) the detail looks really intricate and impressive regardless, could you post some images of it closer up?

Yep, you're right. I initially chose a Triakis because I hadn't done one before and also I love the section around the engine at the back and thought that could be really dirty. But, yeah, the surfaces are too small and that shine took away all of the texture I was trying to get with it. So, before spending all the time matching the joins and so on, I just thought it would be better if I used the idea on another, more suitable, skin. Probably another Qirex or Goteki or possibly go the Feisar/EG.X route.
Another thing I'm finding is that, probably due to all the light sources affecting the ships, dark ships don't seem to look as good as bright ships. They look great on the tracks with bright light (Moa Therma) but the details vanish on the darker tracks. I remember being quite disappointed with how my first Scorpion looked in-game.

how about what you try it on another craft, try painting pipes or something onto a layer under the 'grates' and see what that looks like, it would be good if you could see details like that through them
Yeah that was what I was eventually hoping to get with this - like it was almost made from dirty metal flooring and infection was spreading out from the grates. Or into them. I hadn't decided!

Have you seen CR4SH3Ds site lately? It is full of AGs Faisars, Qirexes and Gotiki. Even Mirage, which hasn't yet been relised has a skin. But no Triakis. Not even one. I was even considering uploading my own BlueGrin jut that Triakis would have at least 1 skin.
Pleeease don't give up. You are wrong about your first dark red Scorpion Piranha. It looks far better then the second. I have no idea if you intended for it to look like the F5000 Pirhana prototipe but you actualy made the new shape of this craft look like the one in the old days.
That Triakis shure doesn't deserve to die. Pleeeeease!!!! :brickwall

I have stuck to re-colouring the skin for AG Systems. The text on the front is AG-513. ;)

Yeah, we avoided too much fiddly detail because those large splashes of camo-colour looked tonnes better on the skinny surfaces of the Triakis.Quote:

The default Triakis skin looks great. Actually, it's only seeing it in the random pic on the homepage that has me appreciating just how great the Pure Triakis looks too.
Tough to skin in Pulse definitely. It's skinny but also the prong bits twist so what is straight on the basic texture image is not straight on the craft. It's certainly a challenge.

Thanks Dogg. I forgot to say I thought that Triakis skin you were doing looked really incredible close up. It's made me wonder what kind of skin actually would work on a Triakis, or rather would not look like it could be done better on a ship with larger surfaces....
Well AXX, all i could say, I already did earlyer. It is probably the best looking skin made up to this moment.
