Lee was kind enough to pass this cracking image on to me for use on the site - a render he created many moons ago for the original Wipeout.

A larger version can be found here - a bit of a handfull for dial-up users at 558k. The original is over 2 meg, and apparently he has a "hi res" version, although I'm not sure we have the bandwidth to cope with that! :)

Me too! I'd especially like to have a Wipeout game set in these exact colors. They perfectly resemble the high-tech-high-speed-sci-fi athmosphere I feel home in.
that is absolutley brilliant, and the best team is on there(for the first one any way :D ) nice rocket jet affects
Absolutely my take on it as well - for me this captures it perfectly as a high octane racing sport. I was less keen on the other take on it, with the advertising billboards and the almost commercialism of it, but this render is perfection. :)Quote:

I just mean that I see the Wipeout universe as a futuristic form of motorsport, where it was all about the racing, the competition, and the spectacle, as opposed to being about the advertising opportunities for companies like Red Bull (not so bad) and Kappa (runs screaming).

Lee, i admire your work. the clarity and the tone value choices really make it work for me. this particular image is so crisp and has such a tech feel, but also has dynamism and excitement. thanks for sharing it with us.

the major thing i hate seeing in today's motorsport is the adverts plastered all over the car. i remember the 50s and most of the 60s when there were none in Grand Prix. the cars were beautiful and unspoiled, as Wipeout ships are in the games. yes there were strip banners by the roadside in those days, and the adverts on the occasional bridge over the track, but even with those it was a visually beautiful sport. i'd love to see that again

and um... er... not to criticise harshly or anything, but.. uh..., er..., Rob, that first image displayed directly in the post is large enough to break our rule about taking it easy on the dial-up users puny bandwidth. although these images are bloody well worth the time [ i say this as a dial-upper ]. i mention it because i have specifically criticised other members for doing the same thing, and it would not be fair if i did not point this out, even to our serverpayerfor. :D
of course i share your high enthusiasm for this great rendering and would probably have been tempted to show it directly muhself. and speaking of high resolution images, is there anyway we can get that 2 meg one? it would be worth the download time even to this persnickety dialupper
