Now is 2013. 35 years maybe this become wipeout?

Doubt it. There's no real expectation that in the near future we will have efficient free moving anti-gravity vehicles. The best we can do so far is putting them floating on magnetic rails.

We aren't anywhere close to have a gravity manipulation device, not mentioning one that fits inside a vehicle, is portable, and requires little power to run. Our best chance to get such vehicles in the near future is electromagnetic/superconducting levitation for which the only problem as of now is making a powerful and small enough cooling unit to keep the superconductive material that sustains the ship at the optimal temperature. The other problem with this relies on the pavement, which has to be able to produce magnetic fields in all its length. You can imagine the type of trouble that will cause if anything made of metal comes near it.

I believe it may be possible to make wipeout a reality using electromagnetic methods, despite being inefficient, the track just has to be specifically designed for the ships.
Over the year I will do some experiments to determine the feasibility of it. I hope to start in about a month.

I don't know about that in the next 30 or 40 years down the road, but I do think that this kind of racing would be more popular than AG Racing. I know this video is not related to the wipeout series, but this kind of racing might be more popular than you think.

Man I haven't seen that Anime for a long time on CN (toonami). to me this is the exact same genre for a WipEout Animated TV Series, besides the mechs, with the same type of drama and voice acting. Heck, WipEout could even be an Anime TV Series.

Team Satomi has FEISAR colors, even the characters kinda remind me of my FEISAR pilots.

All I can say:
Keep calm and trust in Gravitrons

In my experiments I wont be using superconductors like in that video (which was fake).
I have been getting the components I need but I'm going to wait until late November to start assembling things as I currently have assignments and exams to focus on.

You do know that the closest thing to AG technology is this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXHczjOg06w
All we need is to strap stabilizers on the bottom, thrusters on the back of the craft and some air brakes to slow it down.

That's really neat, and it would be amazing if it were possible. However, how expensive would it be to make these giant beasts lined with this superconductor stuff, and how much liquid nitrogen would be needed to fuel these machines over a lengthy amount of time? I'm no science guy so I don't really no how liquid nitrogen is even made, but if it's no easier to obtain than our current fossil fuels, it most likely wont be a future endeavor. Not to mention those thrusters you mentioned will also need to be fueled somehow, either with our still current gasoline or possibly solar energy/electric or some other form of fuel.

Still, was an amazing video and I really hope this somehow affects our futures.

The thing is that these pucks was made up of two materials, one is the substrate (the sapphire layer) which acts as a basis of the puck while on the top layer is your superconductor (In this case YBCO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yttrium_barium_copper_oxide)) which is the thing that we should be focusing on.

The first challenge in our hypothetical AG craft is that we need to find a hotter High-temperature superconductor. Currently YBCO's critical temperature of becoming a superconductor is -183 Celsius which will require huge tank full of pressurized liquid nitrogen. Currently heavy funding was placed into finding this "room temperature superconductor" not only for it's magnetic purposes but also used as a medium to transfer electricity without loss. What I'm saying is if we cracked the code to find a superconductor with a significantly higher temperature, the roads may be paved with this ceramic wiring/plating like what terra-wrists posted and drive on it with a hull like the superconducting pucks with minimal coolants.

The second challenge while we are searching the perfect superconductor is to find coolant that maintains liquid nitrogen in a very low temperature. Nitrogen (according to my quick Google search) cost AU$6/L and it is odorless, colorless, inert, and tasteless properties gave me an rather darf idea. I imagine instead of installing some sort of refrigeration by itself to the craft, there would be like gas stations where you can replace your heated nitrogen with new cool ones alongside with jet fuel.

Third thing is the fabrication and purity of the superconductor. Just like copper wires, the more impurity it is, the more problems it will face. I'm not sure the technical details used to fabricate this puck or how much it will affect it but generally it may affect not only magnetic performance but also it's ability as a superconductor.

More info on extracting nitrogen here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_separation

So after getting off my lazy ass and doing some research, the fuel bit is doable. Here in Canada/States Liquid Nitrogen will be $0.06/L (http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2007/KarenFan.shtml), so the (Replacement? Fuel?)stations would probably mark up to $0.40/L (Guesstimate) and apparently Liquid Nitrogen is cheaper to make than bottled water (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_much_does_one_liter_of_liquid_nitrogen_cost) as we can take Nitrogen from the ever producing air. (Above post has more details on Nitrogen extraction.)

As for Jet Fuel it seems ok as the prices are almost the same as your regular gasoline (http://www.indexmundi.com/commodities/?commodity=jet-fuel&currency=cad&commodity=gasoline). That being said, it is still a fossil fuel, and as time goes on we are going to need to find an alternative fuel, or suffer the consequences.

I like your road idea though, my only doubt is how willing will the government be to put billions of dollars into reconstructing all the roads ever built, and with what I would assume to be a very expensive product. On a personal note, I just realized Rally would become extinct if this idea were to ever see fruition. :'C

Well if utility CEOs are willing to fork out billions of dollars to save trillions of dollars worth of electricity while getting a cool hovering Ferarri to pick up chicks in Las Vegas, I think they understand the potential.

Actually there's a reason why they called "ships" rather than "cars" since Newton's third law tell us that the only thing stopping our craft is friction of the wind (easily reduced by adopting an aerodynamic design) and Newton's first law meant that the only significant way to stop the craft is either firing retro rockets and/or deploying air brakes thus in theory it uses less fuel than conventional cars.

You know that this Anime reminded me of a real design concept Mazda made for a 2057 car, the Motonari RX.
Pretty awesome, if may I say.

Einstein says Gravitation is fix and can't be changed by humans.
In wich theory we should trust?

Newton, because, let's say the Earth is smashed by a large asteroid and broken into small chunks. Although we wouldn't be around to measure, if we were, the gravity on each chunk would be very much less than that of the whole Earth itself.

In my opinion, nothing in the universe is fixed, it can always be changed. ;)

If we get this cool stuff, ill want to be a racing pilot for sure.

After reading all the posts on this thread, I'm actually pretty confident this may happen somewhere down the road. Hopefully during my life-time! :D
