1v1 Challenge Thread (All WipEouts)

[Challenger #001]

The previous 1v1 challenge thread uniquely for HD Fury was a success, and I have decided to continue it with the advent of 2048 by opening it up to all types of events and races across all 8 WipEout games. May the best men win!

THE RULES

- Anyone in this thread may post a challenge to another in the Avalon 1v1 style, or put it out for someone to pick it up. To re-cap, the Avalon 1v1 matches are in the following format:

Player 1 chooses 3 rounds
Player 2 chooses 3 rounds
Both players race the standard race for their edition of WipEout (see below)

The first player to 4 wins is the victor

- Although this goes without saying, try and keep this within the same game. Don't mix and match tracks from different games...

- Players may choose any configuration for their matches, but the same track may not be chosen more than twice in any direction.

- For Eliminator, the maximum points value is 200 on any track.

- You must post all your tracks and your chosen ship when you set a challenge. You must adhere to this craft throughout all the events.

- Challenges may be sent to a particular user via private message, but a copy of it must be placed here with a GREEN heading followed by your challenge details.

- You and your opponent must try and finish all events set. If time constraints are a worry, play until one person wins four matches, but if you have the time, try and get them all done.

- Though not necessary, try opening a chat with the one you're racing for politeness' sake to keep in contact for the online games. It also allows you to easily chat again if need be. It goes without saying if you're playing splitscreen it's a given.

- Post your results of your match to the thread.

- Be sporting and thank your opponent for taking the time to have a race, even if you didn't win. The whole point of this topic is to bring back the idea of friendly racing from the faceless mess that the PS3 makes of online gaming, after all. In the case of split-screen or close ad-hoc gaming, the loser must stick an ice cube down their shirt.

Great races throughout, and I was pleasantly surprised by the result. Decided to change my races to Phantom and it went okay actually. Although I think with Weps off things would have gone very differently, I always seemed to get the pickup I needed at just the right time.

@Germanist - it can be on or offline. Obviously for pre-Pure it'll have to be 2-player split screen unless the version of 2097 we're apparently getting for PS3 will have multiplayer online, which is a bit of a pipe dream.

@Kaori - I was vaguely aware of the issue with the way the Tri seems to be faster in the corners - when I was doing my fanon with the teams I mentioned this Reverse Inertia Decelleration System that got them kicked out of the FX300 in favour of AG-Systems. But I don't want to ban all ships from this tournament if people don't want to use them, so I think it's only fair as long as people know what they're getting into against an FX300 Triakis that people can use it.

But as I said, gentleman's agreement and if you can, use another ship. Kthnxbye

The challenge idea tends to be mostly for the online games. However, this thread is open to post results of 1v1 challenges done using splitscreen. I think inviting someone over to your house is a bit much unless you know them well, though I did invite Yeldar over to my place last year (or was it the year before) and we did a 1v1 there and then. I suppose if you're close enough to someone it can't hurt.

Shitta, stin won I was pretty pleased with my performance, close race.
Sol 2, stin won I knew, it have been a hard game for kaori but still a tough race.
Khara Descent, stin won Well that was a pretty intense close race, like it was neck to neck and in the end, it was a good victory.

My choice was good :)

Altima VII kaori won Wow!, he had blown me away to smithereens, struggling to catch him!!! he won by 5secs!!!
Paris Hair kaori won That was extremely close race, he was grinding all the way but congrats to the winner. ;)
Sinucit stin won Well, he was leading on first lap till I picked up Rocket Launcher and hit him on the long road till I passed it, grinding hard, avoiding all his land mines to win the race.
