The Group: http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/group.php?groupid=22

Announcement: TLD TOURNAMENT this Friday, October 9th at 16H30 GMT. Taking votes till Friday, October 9th, 13H00 GMT! I will make up a tournament mode according to the voting results. See you on the track! :) (any psp cpu clock (don't use cheats! :lol) allowed)

The Role...

We represent you the TeamLink Division, the first official team racing league on Pulse (and Pure from now, I hope), exclusively here, on WipeoutZone Arena!

The sessions are open for all Pulse/Pure racers. Anyone who wants to participate on the scheduled meeting, just PM me. ;). The one will be given the password so he can participate on the session.

Available modes for now:

2v2 (2 teams racing, consisting of two pilots for each team)
2v2v2 (3 teams racing, consisting of two pilots for each team)
3v3 (2 teams racing, consisting of three pilots for each team)
2v2v2v2 (4 teams racing, consisting of two pilots for each team)
4v4 (2 teams racing, consisting of four pilots for each team)

Points scheme and teaming up:

For 2v2 mode: 4th/3rd/2nd/1st = 1/3/5/7 (*hint*: place = points awarded) (team 1 = 4th+1st; team 2 = 3rd+2nd)
For 2v2v2 mode: 6th/5th/4th/3rd/2nd/1st = 1/3/4/5/6/8 (team 1 = 8th+1st; team 2 = 6th+3rd; team 3 = 5th+4th)
For 4v4 mode: 8th/7th/6th/5th/4th/3rd/2nd/1st = 1/3/4/5/6/7/8/10 (team 1 = 8th+6th+3rd+1st; team 2 = 7th+5th+4th+2nd)
For 3v3 mode: 6th/5th/4th/3rd/2nd/1st = 1/3/4/5/6/8 (team 1 = 6th+4th+1st; team 2 = 5th+3rd+2nd)
Others will be decided after they are tested
Eliminations (DNF) count as zero points!
Network disconnections and other problems of the same nature count as one point!

The Teams:

The teams can be assembled before events (if the two or three pilots decide that they want to be in the same team), or they can be "shuffled" by doing a 4-race qualifications (zargz, thank you for the great idea! ;)), where, in case of a 2v2 mode, the winner of the qualification tournament teams the last placed pilot, and the 2nd placed pilot teams the 3rd placed one. The analogue is for other modes.

The Race Tracks:

The tracks can be chosen manually or automatically shuffled by the custom-made c# console application. Either with or without weapons is fine.

The Participants List needs to be done at least 24 hours before the event OR by time set by organiser, to allign and prepare everything, and to avoid an odd number of pilots. Please, try to confirm your participation within the time given.

Chat Sessions (our dearest :D)

We usually prefer to use msn to contact eachother and make chat sessions to do spaces between the races more fun and joke-rich. ;)
Other option is the irc channel, which I can create.

IMPORTANT: I suggest to everyone that we use some chatrooms like msn or irc ones. That way we can have information that everything is going smooth or if someone's having problems with his connection or PSN (which is usually the case :() so we have to wait for him. Please, read the next little tutorial if you don't want to use msn: (this is completely free and no registration needed!)

Go to: http://www.mibbit.com/
click on: "Start chatting now"
under IRC choose: Freenode (or some other server; I will write you in the PM)
Enter your nickname (please use the existing one, from this forums)
under channel (right of nickname entry) enter #tld-tournament (or some other channel name; I will write you in the PM)
when you connect, choose the tab (it's the name of the channel)

--more info soon!
#the ideas are well appreciated, always! ;)

: this is how it looked like on the first two test sessions, which went awesome!

Thanks for creating this group Arch. After much struggling for worthy Pilots, and an additional struggle in stimulating the online Pulse scene once again, i'm ecstatic at the launch of this division!
From now on this is where i'll reside...

TeamLink ROCKS: 12 Race Tournaments. Fully Weapons Active & De-Active Alternative!

This is Anti~Gravity

This is Adrenal

This is Hyper Hosting

Above all my fellow Pilots... This is WIPEOUT

Nice job, arch:clap. Yesterday's team racing was awesome! It's strange seeing you overtaking me, and having to NOT shoot you!:lol Makes things much more interesting.
I like that idea ace just had about alternating weapons on an off each race as well as shuffling the tracks - imagine plat **** black with no weapons!:eek

Alex, we did the first test tournament weps on/off alternated, but this one, I wanted to leave it ON to have more fun and uptempo. ;)

Thanks, guys... (gotta go to sleep now, lol :D)

MrSmadSmartAlex

Gotta hand it Luxoflux, without whom the TeamLink woulda been compromised... Respect Luxoflux

MrSmadSmartAlex, Archman, thank you guys for keeping it rocking whilst I was in Amsterdam. When I came back, Alex had morphed into an Air-Licker Phantom bad arse... forcing me to pull my socks up and get counted. Awesome. And in only 4 days!
Arch595esc trained you Frankenstein style... and now you rank elite. What an awesome talent you are MrSmadSmartAlex.

I'd race with you too SaturnReturn, you're timing couldn't be more perfect...

Welcome to TeamLink!

At Kanar - I remember when I didnt have a PS1 - and all I could think about was Wipeout (the original)...

I saved my pennies and got my set up... Ever since, I've played the Wipeout games HARD. It became an obsessive passion - everyone who knows me knows me to be a Wiper. If I can contribute to this scene in any way from the use of my limited skill, I will.

Oh, and like you - I also have spent many an hour playing this game when I shoulda been out socialising - I'm still guilty of this lol

At Asayyeah - Think we all do our part in contributing- even if it's going online to play, or hosting matches at home... It's all part of the collective scene which makes Wipeout what it is today - I guess really, we're the only ones responsible for keeping this scene alive... At this point i'll have to express my gratitude to the members of this site who have been here for years... There are too many to mention here but I'm glad this site exists, and carries on to exist because of your interest and membership. And lastly - to the Moderators and sponsors of this site - in making it a site worthy of being my homepage... (Even above Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory lol);)

I've already confirmed, just wanted to say "welcome to the TeamLink Division" to Kigo. Hopefully Seraph will also join this weekend!

MrSmadSmartAlex and Archman will no doubt race, so really if we get 1 more pilot - we can maybe do a 2v2v2 or a 3v3. I'm ever the optimist!

but it can happen! Any racer that can race phantom can join. if anyone is interested, please PM Archman for details

You can also check our TeamLink Group page in the Social Groups section or in the WipeOut Pulse thread! thank you!

Yeah, ACE! I think that TLD powered by Avalon will attract some legends...5 racers confirmed for now (including me lol), more wanted (so that we'll have to do multiple hosts lol). It's still 11 days left to the beginning of the tournament. I know someone will confirm! (Seraph, hope you'll participate!)

Yeah Arch - almost forgot, powered by Avalon... That is some cool stuff. We now hove 6 confirmed (some real cool talent) - and we still have over 10 days before the event, which means we may have more participants for TLD Racing - this is giving me goosebumps buddy...

Thanks to all who have confirmed so far... if anyone is interested, here's the info http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6150 and if you want to confirm your place please PM Archman your name and the word CONFIRM - Arch will then get back to you...

As time draws ever closer to the Avalon/Teamlink events this weekend - Those of us with a competitive spirit and passion for the FX-400 are starting to race online, anticipation of this weekends events are forcing us all out to race online - And the prelude to Avalon/TeamLink has been absolutely Helter Skelter... At Smad!!!!!! - TeamLink means NOT shooting your team-mates - I got shot by you many times matey... Target firing ya buddies does not help us to WIN!!!:blarg

MrSmadSmartAlex
31st May 2009, 02:31 PM
hehe - sorry ACE. I only shot you twice, with the cannon. KIGO also on 1 track. It happened when you drifted between me and whoever I was shooting at, and the lag made it hard to react quick enough to stop. I also got blasted by teammates at various points. 8 racers = carnage!

edit: just watched all the videos again, and all I can say is WTF?!? You got hit by 1 ROUND of my cannon on Vert W (I'd already stopped firing when you appeared), and YOU knocked me off the bridge at the start of Arc Prime W! Get the facts straight before you post crap like this.:|

only 9 days to go my fellow AG Pilots... Are we ready for this?

Arch has been busy trying to organise multi-hosts for the upcoming TeamLink Division event... Meaning some of us will make it through the preliminaries into the the main event of Team Racing - this is a proper Team tournament now, ofcourse - it can only get bigger...

I implore all members who are currently active on Pulse, to join this event - I can guarantee the most competitively charged racing - and - a barrel load of fun inbetween the races... Please PM Arch with the header "TeamLink Confirmation" and he'll get back to you...

With an event like this one - it really is a case of "the more, the crazier"

@mdhay, team sorting is based on the 4-race qualifications. If you didn't, please refer to the first post in this thread. ;)

I apologize to everyone, because I know I'm bugging you to hell about this following participation. But I need to be sure who's gonna participate and who can't. Because if someone cancels without me knowing it, the whole system ****s up...
Thank you for your support, crew! ;)

I apologize to everyone, because I know I'm bugging you to hell about this following participation. Two racers more to go. And we have 2 rooms.

You did well. You're really dedicated, that's why you managed to get two rooms. Good job mate. Pulse is a great game, thanks for offering with this league some sort of oasis hosts sometimes. And Fantastic vids Alex btw.

archman
11th June 2009, 08:37 AM
Yes, but I will need to cut down the track number and the whole event time, so Asa can participate. Hmm...what you guys think about prediciding the teammembers?

archman
11th June 2009, 09:04 AM
ok, we will most probably have a preordered teams, to squeeze the time on event, due to some participants don't have much time. Hope to see you all on saturday 19H00GMT. First thought teams:

Team 1: supersox, xtriko, Asayyeah
Team 2: James_sp, Luxoflux, ACE-FLO
Team 3: MrSmadSmartAlex, Kanar, Archman
Team 4: Flashback Jack, mdhay, stin

Everyone ok with this? I had to form teams practically in the "last minute", I have a reason for that. I hope that everyone is ok. If someone wants to switch teams, please let me know.
Also, we will do 20 races this time. It will be a knockout style, means that two teams will end their journey sooner, after 10 races, unfortunately. So, battle your position! ;) (but you can always stay playing in the other room, if you want to host some racing, sure, lol)

Well, I can already tell you, I'm happy with my team! We'll win no worries! Mwuhahahaha

ACE-FLO
11th June 2009, 10:28 AM
... not happy with the way the Teams were chosen, the teams should never chosen like this. The way the teams were formed last time was method based on ability, it was fair... this time round the integrity isn't there...

I don't see why we can't do 4 races to see who ends up in which team, it won't take more than 20mins!

otherwise TeamLink wouldn't be Fair... lop sided results are no fun...

EDIT: Ok - been on MSN to Arch - and I now understand the reasons (quite extensive) as to why we cannot do the preliminaries to decide teams - there are many complications (TLD is still under construction after all) but suffice it to say that the teams are at least chosen in a fair and well though out manner... I am happy with the situation as it stands and my apologies to all who think I've been a cry baby for not having it my way (I did cry - but Arch gave me a tissue and told me it'll be ok)

WTF? hahahahaha - I see the joke now - You guys are gonna rock come Saturday - I just know it... BTW - did you explain to all racers that there is no Jay-Tech allowed? As I understand some of us can race with this device (don't know how coz it sucks bad, I tried it and kept grinding walls - I prefer my way, Flo-tech - more natural!!!):rock

Oh - re: you guys losing like heroes with DNF's - that's my heritage man!!! You cant take that from me!!!

archman
11th June 2009, 12:14 PM
I didn't, my bad. But everyone should know that anything except "default" cfw and JayTech are not allowed. I already, kind of, "filter it out" by inviting racers to an event. Cause I mainly know who races it and who not. But that rules doesn't make sense after all, cause everyone could break them and draw a profit out of it. I just hope that noone actually will. Cheers.

ACE-FLO
11th June 2009, 12:17 PM
Default CFW means running at the PSP standard of 266mhz which is agreed upon as the gentlemens agreement yes? And strictly no Jay-tech...

Just to keep you all up to speed - I'm gonna save time by copying and pasting from the online meetings thread!!!

OK peeps - this is probably gonna be my last post here for a while, I broke my Pulse UMD disk...

Ok - not clever, but after being called a cheat by a certain someone, i got angry and broke it.

For the record - I don't cheat - never have done - Only learnt what Jaytek is less than a month ago (dont use it please), and have a PSP1000 with OFW.

I also have an admission to make here - I suffer from epilepsy, stigmatism in my right eye, my adrenal glands are effed and I also have bad eye sight to top it all off... So really, I shouldn't even be playing this game.

The epilepsy is the single most strongest reason why I shouldnt play, but I carried on doing so - because I aint afraid of it,(even though I've had fits whilst onlkine and had to eliminate unknowingly coz I was unaware of my surroundings) I don't shy away from stressfull situations. I've already been advised by my GP that computer games are bad for me and will aggravate the signals which cause me to have an epileptic episode (a fit)...

My reasons for telling you all this is clear - I don't want you to think I left because I was a cheat - I AM NOT, never have been!

Most of you experienced pilots who have raced me, have kicked me countless times - I thank you for your beatings ;) and your kind words of encouragement when I was getting dissed by another ex-member here.

I wanna thank Archman - for making me believe I could race the Phantom speed class, (Personally its all you mate - I would never have gone for phantom on my own),

Also wanna thank MrSmadSmartAlex - my oldest wiper buddy to date, we've been racing the longest! The memories of those early races are still fresh and make me smile...

Kigo - you have provided me with much entertainment to date, and have also kicked my ass online, nice one!

FBJ - though not here - he has helped me with racing tips and the like so yes, thanks to FBJ too.

all my friends on my buddy list - there is a reason why you guys are my buddies, it is because I have seen something which rings close to my heart with you guys, you're all good people!

And last but not least - I wanna thank Rob (Infoxicated) for always taking the time to answer any queries I may have had. He knows what he's doing, even if you guys don't think he does... Just trust him will ya...

Anyway - this aint no goodbye speech - I'm taking a break from wipeout - gonna enjoy the sun, have a few scoobies (Sorry Arch but yeah - I started again) and generally enjoy myself with my friends and my partner Michelle, She'll be glad I broke the UMD at any rate... she hates me playing PSP.

Once I feel the "withdrawal" symptoms from pulse - I'll get another UMD disk.

But for now - It's bye from me!

Take care guys. Do love you all!!!

26th June 2009, 12:21 AM

Big Thanks to Mad-Ice, Alex (wut???!??!??), Ace, NightArh and Kaori for this cool TLD evening! Sorry I wasn't a better host this time, but there's always a second chance. :)
Also I need to take better care about this confirmations, and will probably change the limit from 1hr to 1 day for a participating confirmation. There's just too many line-up changes happening at the last minute. Seems like some of us haven't realized how should this thing work. Team racing is a mode which is harder to sort out than some "normal" gathering. It requires an even number of racers planned, and when one falls out (which happens constantly) at the "last second" the whole scoring system changes, and then the Cranky Croac GF is out again. :( Sorry, I'm like that. :D

MrSmadSmartAlex
10th August 2009, 01:07 AM

Well, with raised eyebrows I ask "What about the gentlemens agreement?" seems hardly fair to those of us with OFW Arch. Your smoother gameplay (cfw@333mhz) vs my laggier one (OFW standard@266mhz) holds me at an unfair disadvantage...

... in the interest of fairness to wipers, I think you should revise the clockspeed issue! It also eliminates the possibility to cheat :? not that I believe zoners are capable of cheating :?

Well, I got a magnificent report for today. We tried to connect to the PSN. And you know what? You don't. So I'll tell you.

Alex and me managed to connect first, everything went smooth, after this "maintenance" notification. btw we're on 5.50GEN. Check out this scenario: KIGO and ACE-FLO, trying to connect, but they are NOT ABLE TO. Yes, they use 6.10. OFW 6.10!! AND THEY CANNOT CONNECT to the Playstation (R)(sh*t) Network!!!!!!

This is simply filling the cup to the limit. I can't believe that there's millions of people supporting such a false firmware. (I'm not dissing ofw crap just cause of this now!)
I'm actually really impressed of how really, actually, blind some people are here. Telling cfw is not right and all...What is right? Not being able to backup your own ****ing UMD? Not being able to play a homebrew game and actually maybe help a "little" dev? Not being able to do ANYTHING with your PSP? You know, Sony hates you, hates you as much as the PSP. But you still love Sony. I admire you. You should love the devs, who give you the game, that awesome work, not the ****ing monopolist. Take out the bait of your mouth and say F U C K you to the ****er!
And use some firmware that is good enough for you as a human, not that chickenshit ofw crap. Thank you.

Cheers. ;)
