For the fellas and ladies, who have been playing the games on their PS3.
What was the best type of system.
20Gb
60Gb
80Gb
120Gb
For memory, usage, speed, power, performage in any place ( mountains, out somewhere in say, africa ).
I'm bring back a question on getting one again. When a friend who runs his business in the videoi/game retail. Told me of a 120 Gig PS3.
Yes another hundred bucks on the order. But
I didn't argue with him why if their is on. Sony wouldn't tell ya a whole lot.
And reading a bunch of old post from owners now. Won't help me since new things come out

Yep, the 60 - itll play old disks, and you can easily upgrade the hard drive yourself, negating the benefit of the 120.

60GB American or Japanese version. The European version uses software emulation already.

60GB variant for sure. Its the one with the old PS2 emotion engine in it, allowing the most backwards compatibility of any PS3. Well worth paying 1k for it now considering its a one of a kind variant.

I thought there were 2 with the "emotion engine"? But one of them was a much smaller drive, like um... 20 meg?
edit: er.. 20G, I meant.

20GB and 60GB NTSC have the Emotion chip. 20GB and 60GB PAL don't.

The older ones were discontinued; you have to get them second-hand.

it seems a bit pointless imo.
second hand ps3's with BC sell for more than new ones without. from what i gather the BC isnt perfect by any stretch of the imagination so if you really want to play all your ps2 games you could well, keep your ps2? :)
and all ps3's emulate ps1 games the same, so for playing wo1 and 2097/XL doesnt matter which you go for.

It probably matters for setting records, which require the original console the game was made for.

if you use a dpad or a analog stick for the older games on the ps3, it will play fine as long as you have the disk. If you use a negcon, you are out of luck unless someone can get them to work.
