Greetings all .
I've been working on this for some time now , it is a wipeout styled environment.
My specialties are with texturing , lighting and rendering , I dread modeling . Well I enjoy it but am just way too slow at it .
I'm finally getting close to being finished with all of the modeling stage and can then finally progress with some texturing yayy!
I'm doing this piece solely for my demo reel .

Anyways I will post all my updates from underneath this post .

Here are some of the models rendered on their own without texturing ..
*Note I haven't done seperate renders of all my modeled assets , but they will all be there in the final render *
The whole scene is under half a million polys at the moment .

Radio tower model , about 50180 polys

Russian Stalin Era styled Building Ruin , 100877 polys ( The Russian writing , Is my name written in the Russian Cyrillic alphabet , Chris Ford )

A screen cap of where I'm at with the layout of the scene , busy importing all my separate models and modeling the road and other small city elements ..

**UPDATE 24th July 08**
Small update , added street lights fixed the road a bit , re arranged some of the scene and brought in a few more structures .
Screen-caps of the scene..

**UPDATE 28th July 08**
This is one of the filler buildings I've modeled , it looks complex but when you break it down , its just a cool arrangement of tweaked primitives . Took less than a days' work to model . I've done a few more .

Ooh, you're really going public on this aren't you?
Great Maya work mate :+ that's gonna be pretty damn hard to UV map!
EDIT: Hmm... ground looks like it's got a few too many polys...

That is looking sweet, I can't wait untill I see a track running between these buildings.

Are you going to make a game? Because maybe... uh, to fill in the gap between Pulse and HD... You know ;) This could be "Wipeout InBetweEn"!

Just kidding :g

Nice model work :) :+

Haha , myself , my brother and a friend of mine had actually started a wipeout game using microsoft XNA studio .
Him and my brother work at a company that makes tank simulations .
My brother the lead physics programmer and him just one of the many programmers working on it .
We all got together took the template racing game engine that came with xna studio and started editing it . Within a weekend we had got the floaty physics almost right , and the racing game template was basically a full game , so we could run it on the xbox360 and our pc's .

The next thing we had to work on was creating the air braking system nose pitch etc . I also had to start modeling and texturing some assets for the game , and then thinking and testing a good race track shape for the game .

We hadn't gone further than that tho ,just adjusting the physics of the engine . We got it pretty darn close we were all playing wipeout inbewtween adjusting it to get it just right .
We all have very busy lives , but we're definitely going to be coming back to it .
When I do resume work on it I will probably be using some of the assets I've modeled for this scene , but just making them much more lower poly , and maybe with a few normal maps from the higher poly versions to make them seem just as high detail .

Really beautiful pics, man. They remind me of W3O. Love the realism of it, I wish that Wipeout would go with more realistic-looking backgrounds/buildings like that, instead of the slightly cartoony style they have. (runs from thunderbolts)

Update at the top .
That render was done without any lighting , just quick render tricks of using multiple shaders .
