Fish - Throwing Muses
"I have a fish nailed to a cross on my apartment wall...it sings to me with glassy eyes and quotes from Kafka..." LOL!! love it a little too much.
I admire your taste in lyrics.
If you like weird word sequences, try this: http://redwill.livejournal.com/
Yeah, it's mine. Blatant self-promotion to link it, but you might find part of it entertaining, especially the newest four entries.

Yeah, it might be blatant self-promotion, but hey, someone's gotta do it!;) Thanks for the linky!!
Yes, I loved the latest 5 or so entries the most. I love writing which appears to be written exactly as it was thought, straight from brain to paper. It simulates the author's thought patterns for others to (attempt to) understand in a way only complex music can come close to.
(And I am beyond impressed that you mention Akhenaton. One of the most interesting characters I've ever known about in Egyptian Pharaonic history.)
Lance

Akhenaten was one of the most interesting characters in all of history. But uh.. perhaps I digress too far and too long from the topic of the thread.

That boy needs therapy.
Psychosomatic.
That boy needs therapy.
Purely psychosomatic.
That boy needs therapy.
Lie down on the couch.
What does that mean?
Your a nut!
You're crazy in the coconut!
What does that mean?
That boy needs therapy.
I'm gonna kill you.
That boy needs therapy.
Ranagazoo, let's have it to you,
On the count of three.

And he also made false teeth.
Weird, yes, but the best Australian song I've heard in a long time. :nod

Kraftwerk is synth pop. Electro is a U.S. invention (think Africa Bambaataa), heavily influenced by synth pop but blends elements of funk.

1. Daft Punk - Burnin'
Best house song EVER! :rock
Haven't we covered this already? :)
Daft Punk is dance music, not house. I for one have never heard Daft Punk played in the house underground here in Toronto in my sixteen years on the scene. :)

But now I know such sub-genres exist!
I generally follow this rule: Listen. If I like, I buy, and if I do not like, I do not buy.
Genres are almost meaningless to me...

We also went through this quibbling around two years ago about names based on minuscule differences in music. Just enjoy the music instead of the classification.
Task
27th November 2007, 02:27 AM
There _are_ occasions where the genre/classification is _very_ descriptive of the type of music. For example:
Nerdcore Hiphop (http://frontalot.com/index.php/)
Hobbit Rap (http://www.lordsoftherhymes.com/)
But as a general rule, yes, classifications are not very useful.

Hi All.
now i listen to....
Ulrich Schnauss - Never Be The Same from Goodbye album.
I'm pretty sure that it is a downbeat electro ambient stuff ;)
.....sometimes, someone called it new age, but........i'm not in agreement with this classification.
Remember.... It is very important the age of a reviewer......i'm 45 years old and I listen to the early born electronic music, or to the early born pop/rock in the seventies.
now i find out that it's called 'prog'.......Genesis, ELP, Marillion, King Crimson, PFM, Yes, for me for example they aren't prog music makers, but pop/rock with some particular music style influences.
Yes and ELP are in Symphonic Rock groove.
Genesis and Marillion are in Romantic Rock groove.
Now when i read the actual classification they are all called prog musicians......aaaah the young reviewers......:D
Electronic music for me it's all the early music movements in Germany of Seventies, from Ash Ra Temple, to Kraftwerk.
In seventies the 'analog synth' was called 'electronic instrument' ;)
In this age no 'synth pop' exist.
....they didn't have any type of digital synth in this historical period only analogic sinth like vcs3, or moog, or arp odissey (do you remember The wall of electronic sound of Schulze?)
When i think and refer to 'Synth pop', i find only some groups in early eighties, like the fantastic 'Art Of Noise' for example and when i speak about electro, I find only Kraftwerk in early seventies When the synth pop was not yet born.
excuse my bad english, but i hope that you understand my little opinion :)

EDIT: I agree that generation plays a large part in the classification of music. As a member of Generation X, electro (electrofunk) to me is classified as one of the few sub genres of hip hop. To my knowledge, Kraftwerk did have at least one crossover track that was very popular in the early breakdance scene (Tour de France, original mix), but aside from that and the massively-sampled Trans-Europe Express (the protototype for Afrika Bambaataa's Planet Rock), they were as a genre somewhat distinct from early electro. Kraftwerk in my opinion were always on the experimental side of electronic music, not really tailored for dance, which electro was suited for. Despite this, Kraftwerk figures heavily into the influence of U.S.-based producers during the early emergence of electro and techno. I've heard of synthpop and technopop bounced around when describing Kraftwerk, but for all we know, they may even ride the boundaries of genres if that's even possible.
As for me, I'm currently listening to:
Robert Hood - The Protein Valve (A1 Mix)
Haunting minimal detroit 4/4 tech with a slice of acid.

Anyone get the feeling recently that Ministry of Sound is more or less on autopilot at this point? Their compilations are getting BORING in my opinion... mostly they are just picking the top stuff off beatport, the minimal blippy junk, either that or commissioning dance cover versions of whatever crap is in the UK charts. Anyway. These days I prefer artist albums or compilations like this series (direct iTunes link) http://electricnation2010.com/tracks

I checked other WipEout 3 tracks (I ripped them from the disc image) and all seem to be doing it except Xpander which I re-encoded in 44100 kHz because it was 48000 kHz originally and would not play in PULSE.
