I thought that this thread would be safe because sony have allowed this.
It turns out, that you can install another OS on a playstation 3. From what I can remember, you make a partition, then put the OS disc in the drive, and I can't remember any more. If any one knows about this then please post!

I knew you could install Linux but XP? I certainly wouldn't be putting a M$ operating system on my PS3. Anyway say you install Linux I think you loose the XMB and theres a warning that it might go wrong. I don't think I'll ever install another OS too risky plus I have a PC here why do I need to turn my PS3 into one?

because of the advanced graphics, sound etc. that xp would run off? If I did that then I could probably be able to play tron2.0........

You will never be able to get XP running on a PS3 - the architecture of the hardware is so far removed from what XP was designed to run on.

What am I going to do with the advanced graphics after the new OS is installed though? Play games......?

hm? The PS3's XMB does not get lost. You simply chose which OS to boot at the start I guess.
So you can either use your PS3 as a Linux/Windows-Computer or in the normal mode, as a game console.
