I ordered a 4Gb Sandisk memory stick from www.picstop.com yesterday afternoon at around ten past four, and it's with me this morning! :D

Only £69.90, too - that's around £15 cheaper than I've seen them anywhere else. :+

Bloody hell, wasn't that long ago that £70 would have netted you only 512MB! Great stuff

Last year (that means now minus 12 months) I bought two 1GB-sticks for 40 euro per item. That was quite cheap at that time. And they have somehow paid off, because I could use them at work: when doing web development, I could always start HTTP+PHP and MySQL -services off the stick. I could also start programming environments with just the stick plugged in and without the need to install anything into the target system (Delphi 5 if someone knows it). So they helped me a lot.

But buying other sticks is not interesting. When getting a 4GB-stick you should also remember that this data storing technique is limited in its write-cycles. Actually USB-sticks should only be considered when using them mainly as read-only device, so it is also really not the best choice for backups...

That didn't enter my decision making process - the 4Gb stick is for my PSP alone. I currently have six full length movies*, a few shorts, some music videos, plus all my gamesave data, and a gig and a half going spare. :D

*Monsters Inc., The Matrix (high quality rip - almost 600Mb), The Rock, Back to the Future, Ferris Beuller's Day Off, & Galaxy Quest.

By Grabthar's Hammer, what a selection. ;)

I ♥ My PSP :D

Until now, I've made the most of 256mb and I think I'll save up some christmas money for a 4gig :)
