I love the energy you put out Kanar. You are spreading the passion and craziness we felt all those years back. I loved to organise the European Wipeout Conventions and meet all pilots in real life. These friendships are still going on strong.

Most of us don't even play Wipeout anymore, just like me. I haven't played Wipeout for a long time. There was a brief revival with Pacer also known as Formula Fusion. This game brought fond memories of the old PS1 era and floathiness.

Last april week-end is a 24/7 hosting, so you will have a room to set your times in the ranked races (phantom no gun). This leads to the MVP of the Valley. Prize is 300e. Each time is recorded, record table first post :)
Also second post is for the reports, like a journey until the avalon.
But this is also a festival, for every pilot all over the world, no matter their skills (like me, I'm very bad online, can't focus til the end at that speed) : so we have also Festival races : various speed/Trigger happy :) : they're also counting for the avalon bling brigade (Best Eight Pilots of the event).

I've been playing with Sixaxis pretty much from the start and even beat some world records with it. Couldn't really ever get the best performance with an analog stick.
And a random fact - you can't do barrel rolls with gyroscope in Wipeout Omega Collection :mad: Worst gameplay change ever.

Whoa... out of all the things that happened to me in 2024, having someone reach out to me in a way that I can only describe as SOMEHOW, and to >>> play WipEout HD <<< out of all things is definitely the craziest one of them all.

I honestly had forgotten about this game over the years, back then I was an obnoxious kid that probably nagged to a lot of you guys, but seeing this website and all of these good old names are bringing back so many good memories.

Keep in mind that the apartment to be rented does not automatically have TV, much less one where you can plug an HDMI cable into. Plus: the more people we are, the more monitors we need. Transporting one in the car sounds handy, but it is then still exposed to all the bumps, getting shaken constantly.

I've now finally rebooted my PS3 and successfully connected it to the internet again (as expected, the "automatic" part is not mandatory but just what all people tend to want to do - one can still have a manual network address). Updated the firmware from 3.x to 4.90. Signing in to the PSN failed multiple times: the credectials are correct and I've even reset my password successfully, but after acception both ID and password the PS3 tells me the systems needs activation. Which can be done online at https://playstation.com/acct/device-password - and there I requested (and got) a device password. Now every tutorial tells me to use the PS3 and under the row "PSN" to use the menu item "manage accounts". But I don't have that item. Nowhere.

However, I've been offline Sony wise too long (much before 2020), so I can only guess there's simply no chance to log in to the PSN anymore (and the error messages just don't want to tell me that). So how does playing online with WipEout HD now work, after I set up the specific DNS server? Must the PS3's system still "log on" or not? If, how the heck do I get my device "activated" or at least that menu item everyone else than me has? I've also simply added a new account, but that changed nothing.

OMG Amigo, looks like double authentification factor from Sony now... I don't know at all if there is a way to bypass; I am searching on the net now, but damn it's so simple with a mobile phone...
You must be logged on the psn to play hd online;

EDIT : 2FA is not mandatory, connect to a pc, then you should find a way/get it sorted. I remember it worked during a month without 2FA, then lazzy me/ok Sony I put 2FA.

Also, I am adding it anyway, MAC OS is also supported by RPCS3 :)

Communications are emulated so yes, I am still kanar online :) As I said, there's probably a way to bypass 2FA for psn log in, and registering device (was a tricky part must confess) but I didn't do lot of searches;

Finally got this funking bullshed working, thanks to yel/kanar:
Website: sign in at https://playstation.com/acct/device-password. The quick formulation "connect to a pc" left me puzzled - I couldn't translate that into "sign in to Sony's website it tells you along with the QR code".
Website: request/Generate a new device passkey. I missed the explanation where it clearly says "use this device passkey instead of your account password when trying to sign in to the PSN".
Website: leave the passkey displayed on the website (I did so, not clicking "done" too early).
Playstation: sign in to your PSN with your e-mail address as username and that device passkey as password. You should finally be online.
Website: finally click that "done" button. Boy, what a mess. All for "securing" my online account which held details of my credit card, which already expired in 2015.

Now I "just" need to catch a moment when I'm not the only one being online in the WipEout lobby. :) Discord as website alone only displays an "accept invitation" button which does nothing upon a click. Did 2 offline single races after these many years and performed passably with the good old Auricom tractor.

Duesseldorf is also okay for me - will cost me a 1,5 h train ride, which is easy to achieve. I might also bring my PSP, just in case the other old guys want to race Pure and Pulse, too.

That was a great weekend seeing all the new faces, but also long-time familiar ones (Mad-Ice, Asayyeah and Sausehuhn).

The appartment turned out to be a great choice by kanar, as it had 4 screens by itself already. It also had enough room to set up additional screens brought by others, as well as let 10 people eat pasta in the kitchen and provide enough place to sit down and do/watch the races. The porch was also a great addition to all the guys wanting to smoke. Having two bedrooms with a double bed each and a big couch where 3 more people could sleep on was a great occasion, even if sleeping wasn't that comfortable to all of us. There was even enough food for breakfast provided by the owner.

For dinner or meals in general we went to a Japanese restaurant, ordered sub-par pizza, or just hit the next kebab store. Additionally sandwiches from a nearby bakery were donated by fellow participants. Lots of beer was consumed - for some odd reason kanar was addicted to it. But others too.

Games played: WipEout HD/Fury of course, and online. But also WipEout XL (the NTSC version) via link cable. BallisticNG in all its latest brightness (and showing the WipEout Fusion -like tracks). WipEout Pure and WipEout Pulse also made a small appearance. And Ridge Racer.

All the new guys were a great addition, making the weekend even more worthy. After saying good bye to kanar and Asayyeah on Monday I could even spend ~2 hours visiting the city and afterwards taking my train home. Unfortunately I got sick the next day and am still recovering from a bad dry cough.

Thanks to everyone who was very generous during that weekend:

Mad-Ice = making and donating the paper craft trophies
that half Swedish Guy = paying for the sandwiches and the drinks

All uploads are in RAR files - you can either extract it with 7-Zip or WinRAR or surely another archiver software - most support extracting the RAR format. Each file is protected by the same password - I did this for privacy reasons. Whoever wants to know it, simply send me a private message (https://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/private.php?do=newpm) and tell me some detail one could only know when were there (f.e. what we ate, how the apartment looked like, which special items people brought... or simply a topic that you discussed with me in person). If you have troubles with downloading from the file hoster try JDownloader (https://jdownloader.org/download/index) which automates the downloads for you (you can simply add all download links by copying all this text to the clipboard = CTRL+C and then let JDownloader observe the clipboard to automatically add those as downloads).
