Maybe it was already mentioned, maybe not. But I played some old school WO today on PS3, and Altima VII is the EXACT same track with a few minor differences. But overall, it would appear as though it is the same Canadian track that was from the original and that also appeared on the SE of Wipeout 3.

It didn't sink in until tonight. But I went and played Altima 2048, and the similarities are too alike to be coincidence, especially considering the addition of the pit lane in WO3 SE.

Observe, and image the track from 2048: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=digWH0fTwrY

No coincidence, that's entirely intentional. Remember that 2048 is a direct prequel whose campaign ends just one year before the F3600 starts, it made sense that the last track in the campaign should be the first one in the F3600.

Am I correct, though, that the track was build entirely from scratch as the original PS1 assets weren’t accessible at the time WO2048 was being made? It kind of feels a lot shorter in comparisson – although I like the fact that the track is a lot wider to accomodate the bigger crafts of the F3600. Using WO3SE’s pitlane as a skill cut was pretty smart, too.

And did I mention how beautiful it looks? :D

Yeah, all the original PS1 assets are gone so it was rebuilt from the ground up.

I've just spent ages free spinning the camera around the tracks and ships on that site. Very cool! :) Indeed. Thanks for sharing!
