Avalon: Griffon - Odessa Keys Is Not Enough

The Griffon is a legendary beast of European folklore with the forehalf of a predatory bird, most typically an eagle, and the hindquarters of a big feline, typically a lion. Continuing the theme of naming Avalons after mythical flying creatures, I have returned from Turkey after a long absence of these competitions to once again throw this wide open to my many friends on the forum and on the Playstation Network. Lets' fly once more!

For those new to the Avalon Experience, this is a full day of races run by Wipers for other Wipers. Whilst you might occasionally bump into other friends while playing online, Avalon brings the community together and fun is had, rivalries are settled and we get some smashing videos, typically from novide. These events used to be hosted over a full weekend Grand Prix by kanar and Dark_Phantom_89, but with no disrespect to either fantastic pilot, I thought that a single intensive day would be less stressful and difficult to organise than a full weekend, especially with the majority of us in the middle of a fairly hectic lifestyle at the moment.

I have decided to change the Avalon theme slightly for this one, to try and bring in as many pilots of different abilities and skills as is possible. Going by the theme we have with our chosen mythical creature, I am dividing this Avalon competition into three categories, determined by how the griffon will catch its' prey.

The Beak - Slow and deadly. You see the screeching eagle's hooked beak come towards you and there's nothing you can do as it rips apart methodically, relishing in the slow and deadly attack. These will be Flash events.

The Claws - You've barely seen them coming. A kick out with the hind legs of the feline and you're bleeding, falling from the sky. You can barely see the griffon, because it's already on the other side of the world. These will be Phantom events.

The Talons - straight up and front. There's no dodging these, and you know it's going to hurt. You need to be a special kind of pilot to dodge these wicked things. These are Eliminator and Zone Battle Events

By splitting this Avalon into three seperate parts, I not only make it more easy for people to find and host specific types of events, but also canvass more people. You can choose to race in pure Claw events if you so wish, or dip back and forth between the lot of them. You'll find specific hosters for the types of events by their PSN comment tag.

If you're interested in hosting for a particular league, PM me or message on this thread. We should be able to collect at least two for each to manage the day. If you're hunting for me online during the day, I will be flying a Zone Battle Qirex Fury.

Demolition Derby - Eliminator - Target is 100 x (Number of players in Room) - Pilot Assist Off - Barrel Roll Off - Weapon Hints Off

(Zone Battle events will be held at a target at the discretion of the hoster)

Unfortunately guys, Uber's contacted me to tell me that he's out for Avalon, and so is Kieran. As far as I can tell, this means we're out of luck for both the livestream and a full Scotland on Poland match, given that there are only two of us flying.

So unless we can find another Scot, or we change Team Scotland to the Celtic Alliance and find a Welshman, Irishman, Manxman, Breton or Cornishman to take up a third slot, the nations match is off. :S
