oh man, i wanted to download that mix, but all slots for my country are taken. i guess i'll have to wait some time before i listen to it. btw i'm working on a new set now, i'll post it here.
for all your partying needs
(whoops, a shameless plug, sorry)
Old tracks don't bother me, and if they're good even if they're 10 years old, that means i'd rather listen to them than to the latest crap that's out there, which has absolutely no value. I'll say some more about your set once i get it. can you upload it somewhere else, like yousendit.com or somwhere?

you've got the 'spidey sense'
that's a nice set there Leftism. At first i just thought you're gonna play some tracks one after another, but after the transition between Under the influence to FC Kahuna i realised that you've had some cool ideas as far the transitions go. If this is your first time at mixing then i must say that you know which tracks to select next. Some say that makes somebody a DJ even more than their actual mixing skills.
But like Wolf (Pulp Fiction) said "let's not start sucking on each others dicks quite yet" (or something like that). You still need to learn much, and i bet you know it.
Get some mixing software. I recommend you VirtualDJ. I use it myself to controll mp3s with vinyls, so it gives total freedom of mixing, scratching, sampling, you name it. You can manipulate sound in any way you can with that, so i strongly recommend you to get it ASAP. I think you've got the 'spidey sense' for selecting tracks and cue points. Start mixing live, it's way more fun than just pressing play on a deck and wait till the track ends. There's much more than that in mixing. Get onto that, and i mean it!!!

Thanks for the feedback. It was my first proper go at mixing a full set and they were good funky tunes lying around I knew would be good to play. I was never going to win everyone over with mixing skills so the mix was mostly down to track selection, and to be fair I think it's a class selection. It was just about good tunes that made your batty wiggle
@ Shem: glad to get your feedback. Listening back to it it definitely sounds (especially at the beginning) just one track after the other. Partly conscious decision, partly absolute zero skills and playing safe. I hear ya about manipulating tracks, beatmatching (I did manage it a few times though), etc. I know where my faults are and what makes a sick mix so I'm not too worried about what next.
Virtual DJ wise I'll have a look around and see if I can 'acquire' it somehow, nice one on the tip, is it somewhere near Ableton? Let us know when you're streaming your mixes
@ Smoothly Does It: Ancient tunes? Lot of them are barely a year old and it was never about the latest released tunes unless you want Bass Phenomenon ad nauseum. Under The Influence? Classic sick track and my fave Chemical Brothers tune. I'd play Otis Redding or Dolly Parton or Kraftwerk if I wanted cause they did good tunes. Josh Wink? He did a sick remix of Everything In It's Right Place (same as James Lavelle) that I hear get played out, plus it's a good way to end a set. Dusted? The track still gets rinsed to this day by DJs much like every other Leftfield tune, plus the Tipper remix is just all out rowdy.
Feedback always welcome
@ Asayyeah, thanks for getting me online with Wipeout. Haven't been able jump on Kai in a while

I'm glad you're enjoying them. FC Kahuna make some wicked tunes don't they? If what I heards true then they should hopefully be starting on a new album next year, hope it's good
