I know what you mean, it happened to me a lot in Fusion. Once you start doing really well, you start getting into the frame of mind that this IS going to be a record. Then you lose your first shield point, start panicking and it all goes downhill from there.

.
any time and attention spent thinking that it's going to be a new record is time not spent on concentrating on driving. then.... pfft goes the record

Slowly getting better now, just managed Zone 52 and around 78000 points. Haven't managed any more than 9 perfect laps though, but I've managed to do the first three laps using only the airbrakes. Good way to keep amused during the slow bits.
:
Edit: Damn, so close! Just hit Zone 55 with 92741 points and 14 perfect laps.

head Curses! New top zone and almost top score:
121570 points (*283* less than ben,) at Coridon 12 (63 zones (33), 44 laps(19), 1401 top speed)
Good god Ben, fantastic racing on that one! Three extra zones and laps and I still couldn't beat you

Nice one! And 1490kph, wow!
*edit* oh and here's a question i've been wondering about, on Coridon 12, which track do Coridon Go-ers use, left or right? I personally use the right route, not sure if I like the banking on the left one
*edit 2* I didn't manage to beat your speed or zone, but i had another go just now and recieved the following:
Coridon 12
Score: 124778
Zones: 64 (34)
Laps: 45 (19)
Top Speed: 1418

*edit 3 (this is getting to be a habit!)* OK, scrap that, I went ahead and outdid myself, check it:
Coridon 12
Score: 141589
Zones: 67 (42)
Laps: 48 (25)
Top Speed: 1419

Crap *grabs PSP*
I take the left route....
Btw , when I was at zone 64 , I made a mistake and flew RIGHT into a wal , but instead of hitting it , I flew through it
Made me lose alot of life though

Why can't I race that damn track?
Maybe it's because I've been going right, I might give the other way a try. Still no improvement here yet, but now I've got my 194 golds I'm giving Zone a big bash.

I dunno Hellfire, I could personally never do the first track, when the speed pickedu p I always kept getting reset on a certain right hander after a little drop off when I flew over the barrier, gave up on it after a while tbh

I`ve only tried Pro Tozo with serious effort. I`m going to have to give Coridon and its walls a bash sometime though.
Well done Dimension and Badboy.... who`s going to be the first to hit 70? Awesome stuff. Is it still getting quicker as you progress through the 60s, or is it just too mad to tell?

I actually think, Corridon 12 is the easiest of the zones (or did I say that before). Anyway, congrats on the record, Dim! Quite a score that is. :) I'll have to give that one another try next week. As soon as I did something for zargz challenge... ;-) Oh and I go right as well. I can't say why, but right just feels better, which is true for almost every fork there is in Pure.

Yes it still gets quicker , getting one perfect zone after zone 50 is the only way of getting in to zone 65 for me though ( I think the higher zone you do perfect, the more life it gives you , since I almost got 40% extra life when I did zone 53 perfect )

I managed to do a perfect lap in the fiftees on that race lol, made a nice change to get that little noise an the words pop up below Zone 55
As for the speed thing, it does keep getting faster, in fact in the sixtees i've started to notice a little more bounce in the walls, several times i did a bit of a pinball impression, one wall to the other (though some of that was to do with bad line correction lol) but indeed it keeps getting faster

That's about a week i am trying to play hard zone mode.
First of all i must say i am not surprised by awesome results from 'old school fusion zone's friends' Lunar & Hellfire: great job mates
I am happy to see that's also new die-hard zone contenders!!
Zone 67 !! ouch !! you kill me Dimension
and maybe more the now...
If anybody against that, i will re-open a new zone contest 'cause you don't talk much about Mallavol and Syncopia...
