Default Is using L1 & R1 as airbreaks eaiser or harder to use?

I don't know what control configuration you people use for the airbreaks on Wipeout HD Fury, but I don't know what is easier the default setting (L2-R2) or the original airbreak settings (L1-R1) from the old wipeout games?

L2 R2 for me, I find L1 R1 apply to much pressure on the airbrakes for me. The triggers let me apply a set amount of pressure so I don't lose as much speed in the corners.

played for years on l2r2, resulting in sore indexfinger. changing to l1r1 took less than an hour getting used to. and now i'm a happy camper!

@snakenator: Yeah better pressure control for airbreaks with L2/R2, which i think is really important.

But i think using L2/R2 is a little "harder". You can fail a sideshift more easily than with L1/R1.
But it's just a metter of getting use to it i guess, even if you will fail a little more with it. And i don't like using L2 or R2 to reset a lap, i don't find it intuitive.
I tred 2 times to play with L1/R1 but without success, i'm too used to L2/R2. And i feel that using L2/R2 gives me a way better position for my left thumb and so barrel rolling, using d-pad, which is my case.
(L1/R1 gives a more comfortable fingers position for those who use joysticks, i think. Correct me if i'm wrong)
    So L2/R2 for me, definitly.

    Definitely L1/R1 and d-pad, mandatory
@Kieldoskopik_1er : need to try this L2/R2 with d-pad , coz i have problem to SS left and br , other way is much better , that can be "life savior"

I think everybody has trouble with the left SS br. Since you have to do all command with 1 hand, it's just a harder trick to pull off.

I use L1R1 like most of the really old WO pilots around here that started playing WO when there was NO L2R2 on a PS controller.

The thing is, although it is easier to use L1R1, those controls are digital, and as such, the finesse available in braking is less than the Analog L2R2.

If only it was possible to switch Analog braking to the L1R1 buttons .... Dreaming !

I prefer L1 & R1 simply because my fingers will slip off of R2 & L2 from time to time, and that makes me sad

I use the L/R2 buttons for airbraking. The "best" setup depends on each person.

In my case, I use the L/R2 buttons because they help me to adjust accurately the power of the airbrakes. I pilot with the AG-Systems craft, which you may know, it has a high handling value, so applying too much energy to the airbrakes will often backfire.

This is where the "triggers" come in. With their help, I can control and adjust how much braking I want to apply at any circumstances.

This works wonders for me, but as I said before, each person is a whole world. Try both setups and see which one feels right for you.

i've never tried the L1 R1 airbrakes on HD Fury... starting to wonder what all the hype is about. Must admit, I'm tempted to see if it will improve my game - and if so, what that could mean in future for my wipeout friends

Dunno, papa always said "if it aint broke, don't try n fix it", with that in mind, and heart - maybe I won't.

    I'm conflicted lol.

    ^ lol
Thats how i feel about d-pad/analogue. Im conflicted but stick with analogue, even though pitching can be tough sometimes with the log.

As i said, i prefer L/R1 but that just makes sideshifting easier. L/R2 i would imagine is better for control the power of the brakes.

I use L2/R2. It gives me more control, and it's a god-send in the Icaras at Phantom speeds. It allows me to vary the pressure through the turns, making it easier to line up my "exit". They're also great for making tiny course corrections without touching the d-pad.

As for BR's with a left SS: Not an expert, but it sounds fairly easy in my head. SS while steering right, and then just a quick left-right to complete the BR. But it's probably all in my head.

something like that, yes. More, "nose up" (timing required) "side shift to stay in air that moment longer and BR" then work on your landing

(well, that's how it is on venom and flash anyway... like you, I also use dpad)

L2R2. Its because bigger hands are better, also sideshift would be easier with the PS2 and PS controllers, so thats good, but PS3 controller you can mess up with.

L1-R1. Just like Hellfire said in the beginners tutorial, it is easier to sideshift with the two smaller buttons.

L2, R2 for me. Only thing i change in games really is look inversion. Down is up for me. Thats down to using pitch control in wipeout. Alls I've changed is acceleration, airbrake and motion pitch sensitivity. Left shift barrels are my least favourite too. Should be easy with the motion pitch but using the analog for me means a slower input for barrels...which makes them a bit hit or miss. As for sideshifting I have no problem with them after the first tap you dont have to fully release the trigger, so another quick tap is all that's needed.
