Default PS3 freezes when selecting "Audio Options" in menu

As the topic says, for some reason whenever I click on audio options while the game is running (from the menu, it's not a problem), it freezes the PS3 immediately.

I don't know what to do. I haven't reinstalled it yet, but I guess that's the next step.

I did previously have a custom soundtrack going, so I tried removing those tracks from the PS3 in hopes that it would stop the crashing, but it hasn't.

I searched, but I didn't see any direct correlation to this problem.

Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

    Nick

Reinstall it. Could be the hdd or the ps3 system files. But should be working after a fresh installation if the ps3 works overall.

Is wipeout the only game that suffers from this?

If not it might be you'll have to reinstall the firmware. You can do that by downloading it from the PS website and putting it on a USB stick. It should say there how to reinstall (I've forgotten how to tbh :>).

Do make a backup before you try this!

    Good luck

Mine had the same problem, I think it was from the background music (pretty huge file, 3 hour mix) but I never really figured it out. Delete install file, reinstall, all fixed.
