I totally agree with Rennfisch...and mdhay somehow...
A pointless day of hype & commercialism, imo.

+1 To That, I Mean Its Just Another Way For Cards And Buisness.
Flint is correct. Love should be ever lasting, not only 1 day should you show your love and compassion to your partner.

Not a fan of Valentines day as such. Like many people i dont see why so much fuss should be made over one day, especially if your close to your other half for the other 364 days of the year.

I dont buy presents or anything, but its not hard to buy some flowers and plan a nice meal together

Blimey you guys... "i dont believe in it" "i love my partner everyday, why just have 1 day?"
they are ridiculous excuses, you celebrate xmas? and 75% of you are not even religious!!! you would rather celebrate a religious festival than celebrate a day of love???
yes we love our partners 24/7 but its the day of love, at least go for a nice meal...
according to you lot i only love my girlfriend for 1 day, today??
Its not just for couples, its a day to find that special someone!! when you no there will be single people looking for you!!
so if you say, "i dont believe" if i hear you say "happy xmas" or anything like that in the future, it confirms you as a hypocrite...

I for one would rather celebrate a day where I get to have a girlfriend. That alone, would make me die a happy guy.

I've been in college, all day. There's a girl I like in my course, but I asked her out before now and she said no. :/ Ah well, there's always the future.

This is true, I never come across any girls while sitting around my house. But I think it goes the same for anyone else too.

    Thats not true.
I'm not religious. I just choose to celebrate whatever I want to. I love buying my friends and family gifts over xmas, and enjoying a nice meal. Just not so keen on a day of love when im a pretty loving character day to day. Simple.

If your single though, great!!! Got with my girl now after some harmless fun last valentines!

Of course its true... do you no what christmas means? but we all say and celebrate it so theres really no argument lol, i always choose to think that we are celebrating the end of the cold season and the start to a new year like we did before christians hijacked it...
im a loving person but i still like to spoil the one i love on valentine's day! even i do it throughout the year, none of you take your partner out for an expensive meal every night and give gifts everyday!!
Valentines day... if theres something to celebrate love is definitely one of them!

Lol jasmin, that reminds me of a time i saw a couple outside a shop in town, she had the biggest smile i have ever seen and her man looked so unhappy... i then noticed that it was a jewellery shop that they just walked out of!!
it made me chuckle wen i saw her face but i felt so sorry for the bloke! I bet she made him remortgage the house lol.

@MrPhlanj: I think you confuse something: It isn't the birth of Santa Claus but Jesus! Sorry

Xmas? Lol, MegaGeeza - I understand your arguments partially, but there is a great difference between Valentine´s day and Xmas for me:
Christmas has a long-standing religious tradition while Valentine is mindless commercialism in the name of love...
Furthermore, I don´t celebrate christmas in a religious way. Well, I get my gifts and we eat and drink more than usually so it´s more like a harvest festival.
But nevermind, we had a great day too, although we´ve ignored the fact that it´s the Valentine´s day. You can´t pay homage to something as complex as love with a special day or material things, imho.
I also boycott this day for all the singles out there: I deeply hope you´ll find a man/woman you really love! Never surrender!
