    Exclamation Online Game Freezes Console?

I'm not too sure if anyone has had this problem, but on occasion I will be playing online mode (usually Eliminator) and when I look backwards sometimes, the entire game and console freeze. I've noticed it happens more whenever something else happens, such as someone hitting a bomb or when my autopilot disengages.

Anyone else had this happen to them? Is it a well-known problem or am I just unlucky?

This is a well-known issue right from Launch Day 1.

Don't look behind at all. Its been know to be a specific cause of freezing. If you really want to know who's behind you, use the HD/Fury default HUD. You have a proximity detector on it, so its theorically useless to look behind.

Otherwise, other random freezing occurences are not because of us. Mostly, servers/cpu can't handle the intense action of a full grid, and may lose synchronicity between players, thus crashing the game. The best you can do to prevent this is to play with pilots on your continent, such as Europe, America, etc. It can happen offline very few times, but online is greatly affected by those occurences. Take note that before considering those issues, your connection's stability and performance should be verified first and optimized if needed.

It's still happening to me sometimes, though right now i've been exceptionally spared any freezing issues since a long time.

    Bummer.

I made a habit of looking backwards right before I go over the finish line, it gives me something fun to watch while waiting for the race to end.

Only seen it freeze on me once.

i looked at my WHD screenshots and found another case that's leading to a freeze. under rare circumstances it's possible to start online races with a total amount of "0" laps.

    edit:
to be correct, it's (obvious) a photo of the frozen screen, not a screenshot made within the game.

It happened to me, with my old PS3 40 Go and my new Slim 250 Go, when I play online, phantom race, looking backward...

Things that can cause a freeze
    Looking backwards
    Trying to use voice chat
Joining a online game just as it starts
Getting stuck whilst changing menu pages when connected online [rare]
Sitting on your controller and pressing a wrong button with your butt [usually happens after toilet or Coffee /Tea run]

Actually, I experienced the freezing to be totally random. It's as simple as that. Mainly when I'm playing online races, the menus and stuff feeze very rarely. But it doesn't seem to appear because of a certain behavior in the game, because I also had freezes just before the finnish line flying straight forward doing no special moves.
