Default Tap air brake or thrust?

When going around various turns in HD/Fury, do you tap the corresponding airbrake or hold the brake and tap thrust? What always usually gets me when I tap the brake is I accidently may use side shift in the wrong place. So I usually hold the brake and tap thrust. Which do you use?

you could try lowering airbrake sensitivity to like 80 percent it can stop accidental ss if you are heavyhanded

If your heavy handed its best have 100%, as its easier to side shift with lower sensitivity.Your more prone to accidental ones when its lower IMO. I myself have it at100%, i have been thinking of lowering it though. Think about 70 80 should do?

Acceleration sensitivity should be always be set at 10%.
Air brakes are a matter of taste and depend if you use the analogue R2L2 or Digital R1L1 [which a lot prefer ],either way, dropping the % makes it MORE sensitive.
Something that isn't always obvious until you try it,and 5-10% can make a hell of a difference on you Win /Loose ratio once you start experimenting.
I think in the last POLL the general opinion was that around 60- 70% with the air brakes gave best performance for most.

    See aformentioned control setup threads:

Just for ref I have accel at 10% and brakes at 30% (40% for zone mode).

I rarely let go of the thrust either. If I do then the chances are I messed up somewhere. So I kind of tap airbarkes. But I often wonder if I should be holding the airbrake for longer rather than tapping it. There must be different corners which require different tactics, but I think I just do whatever is instinctive most of the time as I've rarely thought about it in depth.

Tapping thrust sounds odd, but interesting at the same time. I wonder how this works. Maybe, with airbrake sensitivity set higher (i.e. less sensitive - I know, it sounds so wrong), you could hold down the brake lightly and very rapidly tap thrust to lose momentum. It also makes me wonder if there are any corners where there would be benefit in gradually slowing a bit before hand, and actually then speeding up earlier as you leave the corner, or even accelerating through the corner. (I'm probably talking crap, but never mind.)

It didn't used to be like this, right? I mean who held onto the thrust the whole way through Silverstream?

(Everybody but me, I'm going to find out.)

You mean PS1? right!, then, it`s impossible!, full thrust to turn corners!, don`t thinks so, cos the type of codex are not designed in those days.

But other games like HD, well I never let go off thrust!

That's a good point, I never held the thrust when making that sharp left-right turn in Silverstream

@ Mr Phlanj - On Chenghou forward I think it depends on preference. I think the fastest way is to not let off the thrust and instead to hit that wall and let it 'bounce' you back towards the speed pad. It depends on the ship too. On reverse, if you take it right, there is no ship where you have to let off to get round the corner as far as I know. Every ship will neatly slide around that corner once you get the hang of it. But if you don't take the right line then letting off is often a good idea here to get round cleanly.

Thanks for the replies and input. I guess I am the only one who does this. I mean I do not pilot this way all the time but I do hold brake and tap thrust when I realise the course I am taking around a corner is not going as planned and I use the thrust tapping as a last measure. They do it in F1 racing. But then again this is Wipeout.
