Does "pitch down" really speed up on straight lines ?
Hey guys,
I've raced some pilots who seem to be faster than usual on straight lines though they were using the same ship as me (Icaras). I was wondering what could make such a difference. afaik there are no hacked ships on hd/fury (correct me if I'm wrong), however I've found on Google that keeping the ship's nose down, especially on speedpads, can help you go a bit faster.
What's your experience ? Does it really speed up ? I've tried sleeplap and unless I'm doing something wrong, my times are nearly the same

In WipEout HD, nosing down will not give you a speed increase. Only in Pure and Pulse do you gain a speed increase when nosing down.

Hasn't this already been discussed recently in another thread?

It's been discussed many times in many different threads at many different times (From WipEout HD's announcement up to now.)
Pitch down does NOT work in WipEout HD. The top speeds of the ships are a fixed value, unmodifiable through stupid steering inputs.
Icaras - Top Speed 10: 792 km/h
Piranha - Top Speed 10: 792 km/h
Auricom - Top Speed 9: 789 km/h
Triakis - Top Speed 9: 789 km/h
Assegai - Top Speed 8: 786 km/h
EG-X - Top Speed 8: 786 km/h
Harimau - Top Speed 8: 786 km/h
Mirage - Top Speed 8: 786 km/h
Qirex - Top Speed 8: 786 km/h
AG-Systems - Top Speed 7: 784 km/h
Feisar - Top Speed 7: 784 km/h
Goteki45 - Top Speed 7: 784 km/h
