    No, I'm saying that Speed having an effect in SP and no effect in MP makes no sense.
    Why bother displaying it otherwise?
    Besides, it does have an effect, although the effect is the same as in SP, which is to say minimal at best.

    Speed definitely makes a difference, online and off.

    It mainly comes into effect when there is no opportunity to BR - and largely on the lower speed classes, at that - but the speed difference between ships like the HD AG-S and an Icaras is quite noticeable. Definitely not as big a deal on Phantom.

    I'd say on some tracks at Venom, the difference can be around a second per lap (e.g., Moa Therma), especially if you're without a boost to make chained BR's out of, so the difference in multiplayer will be greater unless you're lucky with pickups.

    Don't tell me I'm the only one who has been leading a race, only to be overtaken by an Icaras catching up to me as they steal the weapon pad from me from behind?

    On Venom Icaras can have more than a second per lap if no BR or Turbo is used. Icaras dominates the lower speed classes. They always catch up to me on straight lines...

    Thanks for the input guys, it's all coming along nicely. There's still quite a way to go yet, but the bloody thing is already pushing 20 minutes long!

    At the end of the first lap (24 seconds) I'm on the left of him on his screen, and he's on the left of me on my screen. Or possibly the other way around. It's confusing. I think we're both occupying the same space out our own ends and the game just doesn't know what to do. The attached screencap shows it well. It also appears to show my name appearing twice on the right-hand screen.

    what darkdrium said x1000. i get run off the track so many crazy ways, but nothing pisses me off more than sum1 going under me on the double hairpin of modesto and me oing off the track...RAGE!

    Here's the full contents of the video:

    • Controls and a demonstration of what they do
    • How to remap controls and the importance of acceleration sensitivity
    • Explanation of the ship select screen, talking about the two different ships per team and explaining the stats. I've also included the fact that there are stats beyond what is displayed, and that the Fury ships are not overwhelmingly superior to the HD ones
    • Split screen demonstration of the differences in stats
    • Demonstration of airbrake use, showing racing lines with and without airbrakes.
    • Split screen demonstration of a good and poor racing line
    • Demonstration of various uses of sideshifting
    • Explanation of barrel rolling
    • Pilot assist - what it does and why you shouldn't use it
    • Weapon demonstrations and quick advice on how to use them effectively
    • Explanation of shield energy, the warning signs and how to restore energy
    • Strategies for pitching the craft, how it can be used to stick the craft to the track in difficult corners, or raising it to barrel roll
    • Effects of track inclination on the craft and how this will affect handling
    • Demonstration of how to do a boost start
    • Explanation and demonstration of the five speed classes
    • Brief explanation of the different game modes

    At the moment I'm on the weapons demonstration. Still a way to go but it's starting to take shape quite nicely

    However, I've had a think and I'm going to stay out of the whole online business. The video is really intended to help new players get to grips with actually playing the game and controlling the craft, online I think will be best saved for another time. The problems are also already explained in the FAQ.
