Default Home console experience for Pulse/Pure

Ok, all you home console elites that complain about playing WipEout PurE and PulsE on a handheld platform-- you know who you are! You are the people that were so excited to see PulsE released on the PS2 only to recoil in horror when the game was a PAL-exclusive on a region-locked console and had many bugs.

Want to play Pure/Pulse on your big TV from your comfy couch whilst drinking a cold beer? Want to use a modern controller to do this? Well here is what you need:

    1. PSP go unit
    2. PSP go unit line out (component and composite versions available)
    3. DS3 controller
    4. Digital download version of Pure/Pulse

The PSP go unit-- just released last week-- has bluetooth, and full support the DualShock 3 controller. Word is that the DS3 functionality is very smooth-- you can see it in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ipr2dnKlPo

So what do you do? Install your digital version of Pure/Pulse on the PSP go, set up the line-out to your TV, connect the PSP go to the DS3-- and voila, you have a home console experience for Wipeout!

I dont see any reason to do all this perversion personally... It is much more convinient to play Pulse on classic Sony PSP with greater screen than to play with DS controller starring in small PSP Go screen. WOHD is designed for play with DS controller... Besides I prefer to play with D-Pad

    IMO

That's the thing-- you can play it on your TV or MONITOR-- you don't have to look at PSP go screen at all if you have the video out wires

Personally I do agree with you, I have no complaints about playing Pure/Pulse on a traditional PSP-- but LOTS of people disagree with us on this point!

    Wait, hold on.

    PSP Go - 250$
    WipEout PurE - 15$
    WipEout Pulse - 23$
PSP Go Component Cable - 30$
    Dualshock 3 - 53$

    Total: 371$

    PlayStation 3 - 300$
    WipEout HD - 40$

    Total: 340$

Nope, don't see how that's a good idea.

... for the 'Die Hards' most definitely.

Francis, I know you prefer the smaller screen of Pulse, just like me. But nice one for doing the research, it may force some zonerz to eat their hats now!

DD777 has a good point about the cost of such a set up, but I can see a few people going for it anyway - I mean, you can finally play all your PSP games on the TV, some of you gonna love that just know it

You just need a remotejoy and a 2 meter long cable. Costs about $2. XD

So, $371 VS $2. Mmmm. Interesting... eh?

Holy **** yes, How could I forget about that?
You need two USB cables Mini-B type. And a Dualshock. Victory. (Of course this requires CFW.)
And you can even record your games with FRAPS.

Hey, I never said it was *cheap* The price will probably come down substantially over the next 6-12 months as bluetooth functionality arrives on a UMD-based PSP-4000 model

As to other points made here:
    1. Pure + Pulse offer a lot more content than WOHD
    2. CFW solutions are not wireless
    3. CFW solutions will invalidate your records as per WOZ rules

Clearly the PSP go option is not for everybody... but IMO it is exciting to see the option to play Pure/Pulse in a home console environment... especially if this trickles down to a more traditional PSP hardware

I can hardly see any framerate drops...I'm running it on Linux. Dunno for windows. There's probably a drop.
About component cable: Yes, a good option, if you got a capable TV. For me, I'd better play on a laptop screen or pc monitor. At least healthier if nothing else.

Use windows in a virtual machine. If you use just applications, and hardware is not important, switch to Linux and use VMWare or virtualbox or sort of.

Any framerate for the full version, I think 30FPS and 30 seconds for the demo.

I also don't have a framerate drop with RemoteJoy. I am using RemoteJoy Lite 0.19

    RemoteJoy exists on Linux?
    No way !!!!!
    Where? How? Link? HEEELLPPPPP

EDIT : for screen capture you can use "recordmydesktop" and read manual, you need to set an option like "fullshots" for 3D contexts of you may encounter issues.
I already used it for WO captures in Epsxe

Hey, mate, Ok, here's the case. I can send you my files (usbhostfs18 (built on november by ahman) and remotejoy). You want? Or get the files here: http://www.irshell.org/site/index.ph...files&Itemid=8
Yeah, using recordmydesktop already, but haven't looked to the manual. Thanks for the tip! Checking it out now!

Thanks, I'll have a look when I will have some free time

For recordmydesktop, here is the command I used:

    Code:
    recordmydesktop -x 5 -y 125 -width 800 -height 400 --no-cursor --full-shots -fps 25 --no-sound -v_quality 50 -o wo3se.ogg
I used --no-sound because I recorded the sound with jack male/male cable connected to my other PC running Traverso

Thank you for the tips, Temet! Now I got a little better recording! I was using gtk-recordmydesktop before. It was not as good as now.

Also I have found some nice script which includes a screen position finder, you just click on the desired window. Here: http://gleeda.blogspot.com/2009/08/b...mydesktop.html

    I'm using this one:
