    Default Website for Global Rankings

    NEW URL: www.wipeoutrankings.com

    Video guide here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKAeT2RDznA

Hi, I created a website allowing players to check the records, with different
views including: overview of all personal records, or global rankings.

Some people here already knew about it.

    ---------

That's about it, if you have any questions, or ideas on how to improve it, or if
you can help with the translation
(mistakes in italian / german, or add a new language).

Oh yeah someone could host the website, or find a good and cheap host!

    Exclamation Great

    It's wonderful, better than wipeout-game.com
I love the idea of "elite ranking".

Good, I was wondering when the "Edit" button was going to appear. It was already working somewhat by re-entering the time, but now it's gonna be even better if you make mistakes you can correct it very easily.

Awesome job, Connavar. I`ve dreamed of something like this.

I agree with Chboing, it would be even more awesome if we didn`t have to enter times manually, but I`m not sure if SL would ever do something along these lines.

Brilliant though, and I WILL be using it. The fact you have already entered some times means we have to use it or have a low rank

    thanks Connavar.

Problem with SL database is that it doesn't update anymore. :S Most if not all of my records posted on his website are faster times than on WOHD records online.
For example, I really would like to see my 1.59.11 GOTEKI 45 Single Race record (ELITE AI) in 2nd place on the records table, but it's my FEISAR one at 1.59.32 showing up. :/
I wish there was a way to force the update on the server (Of course put a timer, say you can't refresh instantly, only every 10 or 15 minutes, so no mass connections attack can be performed through that), then we wouldn't need sites like this.

Great job Connovar! Although I'm not half as dedicated as you guys on the SL/TT front, it's great that there's something like this out there. Well done

Big thumbs up, this looks amazing! However I don't understand everything?

    1. How do pilots obtain average points?
    2. How do pilots obtain overall points?
    3. Does 'count' mean: Total records for existing tracks?

    Thanks in advance, greetz Mad-Ice

    2. Each mode/track/class combination gives scores to all players in that
    combination:

    Everyone gets this score:
    1000*exp((best-time)*9/time)

So the leader gets 1000 points, and the other players get less, depending on
your time compared to the leader time, I tweaked the parameters (namely the 9
one) to have a bad score (about 500) when you're doing 20 sec instead of 19 for
    the leader.

The overall score for a player is the sum of each score of that player, if track
= ALL, then will be a sum of 16 scores (maximum).

    3. The number of items is PER PLAYER the number of records it gets with the
current filters, if you choose mode = SL, track = vineta and class = ALL, then
you'll get maximum 4 items (because there are 4 classes).
If you use mode = SL, track = ALL and class = Phantom, you'll get maximum 16
    items.

    1. Average is the overall score divided by the number of items.

So for 1 and 2 ... to obtain those points, you need to post times!!

    Hope it cleared things up.

I have a problem though. It seems I keep being logged out as soon as I'm logged in. I've only been successfully logged in twice (once last night). Most of the time I don't have the options for adding times but in the top right it gives the option to log out. When I was logged in properly this afternoon it logged me out after a couple of clicks. Anyone else having these problems? I'll keep trying...

Edit: Still having some trouble but it's working a bit more consistently now.
    Thanks.

Might have something to do with the cookies, like if you're on Vista with some
security feature that might disable them for this particular site.

I'm implementing another method for this so you won't need cookies anymore and
it won't disconnect you, will be updated soon!

I'm sure this ranking is more fair than the wipeoutgame'one (isn't it Kigo ).
Your website and the Elhabib's ghosts site are perfectly completed each other.

Word, I logged on this just now to start adding stuff and about 20 of my scores had already been entered...

    Any idea on that Connavar?

Hi Connavar, could you give me an example with numbers of your ranking-formule, e.g:

Single Race, Phantom, Tech de Ra reverse

    Best time: 1.55.62
    My time: 2.09.88
    My points: 372

    Thanks

Please just WAIT, as I said earlier, the formula is being changed, so why are you
asking how it's currently working? In 1 week there will be another update, and
    everything will behave correctly.

So the formula is the same for Zone mode, except "time" is the score? Do the number of perfect and total zones cleared factor in at all? I'm curious because when I go to "Matrix" and click "Time" for Zone mode I get what look like times that may or may not be in proportion to the zone scores.

Yeah I think so, I forgot.

About global rankings, the formula will be modified soon, again the goal is to
have a clear picture of who the best players are (and I'm gonna lose some
    ranks in the process!)

FANTASTIC JOB ! even in my wildest dreams I never thought I would see anything like this ! The filtering system is flawless !

    A few suggestions though :
    - in the selection box, rename "ELITE" to "ELITE (SL + TT)" so that everyone knows what it means
    - display an short description when the mouse cursor is 2 seconds over a column title (for example to understand what's the meaning of Average, Overall, or Count)

    QUESTIONS :

1/ On this screenshot, I've selected : SpeedLap/All/All/-/OverallRanking and I see that Akfurtif is #3 with a higher average than Connavar who is #2 (877 vs 853). Is it a bug ? What is the difference between sorting by "OVERALL" and sorting by "AVERAGE" ?

2/ Small bug : when we don't enter any Track or Speed Class, an empty image with a red cross appears. Would be better to display a blank image.

3/ Small bug : the logos are not as beautiful on Internet Explorer 7 than on Forefox, as you can see on the screenshot.

Once again congrats for such a wonderful job you must have been coding for hours and hours !!! and the database requests are faaast. good optimization
