I don't do it. Go racing online, that is.

But for navigating the net, I increase the efficiency of the process by not downloading anything I don't actually want to see. I use Proxomitron to block banners and adverts. I use the Opera browser for its efficiency and its ease of control over loading even individual and background images; per site control of javascript and cookies, etc.; and full customisation of the interface, including what appears in all menus, and the order of item presentation in those menus; and custom toolbar content, plus placement at top or bottom or either side. Those things all speed up actual throughput of work [or play] done. On days when my dial-up ISP connection speed is normal, my page loads are just about as fast as my former neighbor's 1+Meg cable connection was, and my work efficiency was better because until I eventually converted him, he use IE.

I let the thumbnail images load, then selectively open the ones I want to see better. Sometimes if there are a lot of non-gallery pics on a page, whether it's anti-gravity gameporn or some other kind, I will only download the thumbnails one at a time and leave all other photos blank.

For dial-up, it is many times faster to do it that way than to simply allow everything to load, which would make me wait several minutes instead of several seconds to get to see what I want to see.
