I listen some long mixes of progressive psytrance (psychedelic trance), especially in Zone mode ; it let me stay on the rhythm ascending AND get me zen & cool I recommand you !

Some artists in this category I recommand a lot :

    • DRURY NEVIL - FREAKS OF THE DARK
    • Phatmatix
    • Brain Driver (Lume)
    • Khopat (Re-Activate <3)
    • Rev (Bilateral dysfunction)
    • Pirated Machines (pirated mind)
    • Psywalker (chemical trance)
    • Atomic Pulse
    ...

I think this type of music corresponds PERFECTLY to wipeout HD !!! you MUST try for an absolutely amazing experience in flow !

    • KRAFTWERK is excellent mixed with Wipeout world !

For tournaments and unique race, I'm listening more darktrance and techno industrial music...Then when you beat your AG opponents in a big explosion, you get high on hardcore muzik !

    • X-Fusion
    • Noisuf-X
    • Alien Vampires
    • Groupe T
    • Angoria

    ...

But not too much hardcore too, because too disturbing to rest concentrated and cool in bends Oo ! Use with moderation ^^

(Sorry if my english is poor, I'm french ^^)

    But definetively electronic music. Experimental...Ambient : why not try ? IDM...Breakcore...Trance, psy...GOA...Industrial

    Hey guys!

Fresh Wipeout HD convert here, just got the game a few days ago. Now, I haven't played racing games since Wipeout 2097 for the PSX and Motorhead for the PC (both of which can only be found in museums now, I guess ), but I remembered how much fun I had with them back then so I decided to give HD a try.

Of course this means I'm probably going to have the worst lap times of all the forum-goers for a long time (RPG-s don't exactly require you to have quick reflexes and fast wiggles on the analog stick...), but that won't stop me from trying to get some silverware (i.e. trophies) now and then.

Anyway, before I drift even further off-topic: one of the aforementioned oldie racers, Motorhead, actually has a brilliant soundtrack (and one that goes so well with WipEout that you'd think it was originally made for that game), made by a swedish composer called Olof Gustafsson. If you can get a hold of an original copy of the game, you'll find that any CD ripping utility will recognize the tracks as CD audio (with the exception of track 1, which is of course the game). If not, you might bump into the guy's website via Google and get them there, though I haven't searched for it in like 6 years, so it might not be available anymore.

Another recommended album is Millenium Fever by Apollo 440. Great songs that really match the fast-paced action on screen.

Oh, and one more song that deserves an entry here is Ride the Comet by Ayreon (album 01011001), I just got to Zone 42 while listening to it! Currently I can't imagine getting anywhere near 75, but back when I tried this zone mode I couldn't imagine getting two perfect laps in a row either, so...

It may be a stupid question, but it seems to me that you cannot play a custom soundtrack (by selecting an album on the HDD) and include the official WipeOut HD soundtrack at the same time. Am I correct ? or do I missed the option to use include both soundtracks ?

If that so, the only solution would be to get the WOHD musics on the HDD but that would be stupid to have to do this when the soundtrack is already in the game u_u

Heh I'll give that a try, at the moment all I have on my PS3 are the albums Pretty Hate Machine and Broken. I seem to be loving their old sound more, but some of their later songs are awesome too. Sorry for the 4 month delay on the reply

I'm liking the Blur and QOTSA attention as well, nice one Stinkleroy and SaturnReturn

Got two more I somehow missed...

Dave Tipper (His album Tip Hop is my favourite album of 2008, such a great scratch/hip hop sound)

Does anyone have a sound system with some really PHAT bass potential? If so, please listen to this Mistabishi track with it turned up loud and tell me how long it took for your pants to vibrate down to your ankles, its goddamn sweet this tune.

Also Sch@dows no you can't do that I'm afraid, your only option is indeed the silly time wasting option But hey, at least if you put it on your PS3 you can play it in other games. I've always wanted to ask everyone as well, ever notice how the random function doesn't work that well? I've had all my songs put into an 'all' playlist, over 200 songs, and I'm sure I keep hearing the same damn tracks.

I think you`re right about the random playback not being truly random, or even very close to random maybe. I have 284 tracks on my playlist and sometimes I think it is just that our minds are inclined to see patterns where none exist, and that tracks are not really being repeated too much, but then at other times my PS3 seems to have an affinity to one particular Paul van Dyk track so much that I now hate it. Anyway I found that changing the playlist order might cure it. I put a different track as the first on my playlist and haven`t heard that one PVD track since, although I could be imagining that too.

    Thumbs up

Of course if you have the Pulse soundtrack you can copy that over to your PS3's hard drive (like I have with all the Wipeout games' soundtracks), and that way you'll be able to hear the songs that come as default with Wipeout HD. Basically HD's soundtrack is 1/2 of Pulse's soundtrack (9 out of 16 tracks from Pulse).

I ripped (as maybe many of you) the three first wipeouts of 32 bit. I put Fusion too.

Away from WipEout, i played so much Uplifting Trance and i thought it was not very WipEout style in the first time, but it feels good when i am racing, for example now i have a set from M.I.K.E. from March, of the Clubbin' program of Slam FM. I like when sounds Rafael Frost - Red (Ferry Corsten Remix) and i am in Ubermall.
Another tunes of this style could be

LNQ - You can trade me for something Good
    Chicane - Saltwater
    Myon & Shane 54 - Not a lot Left
Pitcher - Strike (Kay Cee Remix)
Pound & Harris - Formentera (Definitive Mix)

Some of these i putted in custom soundtrack.
But if you want another style with more wipeout feeling, i played these:

Oscar Mulero @ Zona 3 1999. A set from a Spanish techno dj of a radio program. A set of his best years probably. Techno and Hard Techno.
    Sets from Derrick May.
    Tesox - Go Ahead London
    Emmanuel Top - Stress
    Hallucinogen - LSD
Timo Maas pres Mad Dogs - Better Make Room (James Holden Remix)
LSG - Netherworld (Either Original or Oliver Lieb 2004 Remix are good)
Moby - Go (Original or Trentemoller Remix)
    Hypetraxx - The Darkside
and of course, the entire album of Future Sound of London - Dead Cities. Really cool.
And the last one: M.I.K.E. vs John '00' Fleming - Icecream

Beach Boys - "I get around" on repeat... over and over again

Nah, but I found that Röyksopp is a perfect match with WO racing

I simply listen to wipeout fusion, pure and pulse soundtrack... and some from previous episodes too

which i added some Pendulum, drum n bass fits good.
    the titles are :
    Propane Nightmares
    Hold your colours
    Fasten your Seatbelt
    Bacteria Remix
    Slam
    Remember me

    etc...

and with some DJ-Tiesto, DJ-Sasha, Chemicals Brothers to enhance my game experience...
i'm happy with the Resume option, cause most of them are 6' long.

However, anything with enough BPM fits...

    nice track
but when it comes to audiosurf, i don't really understand why people spend ~10€ on something like this,
and it totally looks like zone mode.

I've been reluctant to say I like these, but the fact is, I listen to them while playing WOHD a LOT - so it's time I face the facts...

Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance Year Mix 2008

It flows so smoothly, yet it has enough beat for Wipeout, I have it ripped as a single track - so it progresses nicely. Especially good for a long TT / SL session, or tournaments.

Nightmusic Volume 3 Mixed By The Thrillseekers

Another good one I've been playing to for a while.

Both of these have vocals, but they aren't distracting at all, the music seems to keep pace even with.

Didn't try classic rock atm though that's what I'm listening most of the time, I love the album Direct by Vangelism but I think many of his songs could be good for wipeout too like Spiral or the End Titles of Blade runner

    see

    Vangelis - Elsewhere :
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=su3i-jX5pnI
Vangelis - Intergalactic Radio Station :

Vangelis - Blade Runner (End Titles) :
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiW6n...om=PL&index=19

of course given that you might guess which mode is my favorite

    Bad Company - The Nine
    Bad Company - Pulse
    Hustle Athletics - Lekker EP
    Rascal&Clone - Hyperkenetic
Sasha - Xpander (David Newsum Remix)
    Ridgewalkers - Find
Max Graham - Automatic Weapon / Does She Know Yet

not to brag, but Noisia are actually friends of mine hehe, we even preformed together a few times. We always have a great time, talkin about all the good old days when drum n bass wasnt that big in the netherlands.(and wich tracks will be on the next wipeout hehe, inside information!) Maybe some of you have the track they made together with Cyrax, wich is my turntable partner in crime.
