i have about 6 playlists to cater for mood and mode. apologies for any vagueness, i'm trying to do it from memory

    1 (AKA standard wipeout playlist).
All my favourites from the wipeout series
similar tunes on game 3.0 and the kitsune maison compilations
pendulum - Hold your colour (album) and a couple from in silico
    flashback by Cyantific & logistics
neon neon - i lust you
gotta have some kraftwerk in there

2 (similar genre but more electro-worthy).
crystal castles - Air war, crimewave, untrust us.
justice - Phantom Pt II (boys noize unreleased turbine mix), waters of nazareth, never be alone
does it offend you, yeah? - weird science, epic last song, we are rockstars, attack of the 60ft lesbian octopus, battle royale, doomed now
late of the pier - broken, space and the woods (neon plastix remix), bathroom gurgle, the bears are coming, heartbeat, focker (rolmops remix), random firl, white snake
neon plastix - on fire, electricity, gentleman's gold, 18-30's, neon invasion, prick tease, what's so funny, dream
Digitalism - i want i want, pogo, digitalism in cairo, idealistic, zdarlight
other stuff from kitsune maison and 5 years get physical.
    daft punk
    couple of hot chip songs
    simian mobile disco
lindstrom - it's a fidelity affair (album) (this might be on the first one i can't remember)

    3. zone playlist
assortment of ASOT's 1-350 split into 20 min sections (even though i never last that long)

    4. generic pseudo-indie playlist that i can sing along to
    libertines
    babyshambles
    the clash
    the smiths
    radiohead
    the cribs
    the rakes
    the mystery jets
    goodbooks
    little man tate
    muse
    blur
    the maccabees
    the young knives
    you get the idea

    5. DnB
    pendulum
    dj hype
    dj fresh
    ellis dee
    lots of DnB compilations

    6. getting high to zone mode
    1200 mics
    infected mushroom
more compilation stuff (helpful i know)

i'll try and edit it so it's a tad more specific

LTJ Bukem and Adam Freeland are great producers, can't get enough of Adam Freelands "Circles".
Edit: Uh oh, i mixed Adam freeland to Adam F so can't get enough of Adam F's "Circles"
But Adam Freeland is still cool also.

I'll recommend the music of Gez Varley (aka G-Man). I got his album Bayou Paradis cheaply, before Wipeout HD came out, when I learned that he had been in LFO. I tried it with Wipeout and loved it. I picked up Avanti as well and it also works beautifully (although I took out the "Lollipop" track). It's not quite the kind of music I usually listen to, but I think it's great for racing.

I also enjoy using stuff from the Kompakt label, but I don't have as much of that as I'd like.

Good recommendations Feisar, I like the sound of those for racing. The odd mellower track on my playlist is a good thing amid all the thumping breaks and trance anthems! It sounds a bit like some Laurent Garnier tracks I have, and also a bit of Sasha/John Digweed stuff that I race to.

I agree with the general shout for LTJ Bukem, but I think you have to be careful with him. His quality stuff is mesmerizing but, imo, he easily crosses the thin line between this and pretentious new age cheez, often complete with psychobabble lyrics, which tries way too hard to be inspirational and visionary. I think I`ve found all the stuff I like from him, the rest I just find quite depressing.

I found quite a lot of good racing music lately, I`ll post links when I get time. Thanks everyone for ideas, this is a great thread.

G-Man's El Jem and Quo Vadis are my longterm favourites

After some really poor races recently, I'm thinking of adding the Bee Gees "Tragedy" to my playlist.

Yes! I'm an old skool NIN fan but have you tried playing Zone mode with the Epworth Phones remix of Capital G? I know it's early on but it hits that that sweet spot right as you hit Zone 25.

I listen to trance ... it seems to slow things down for me.

I tried listening to Ministry ... and I could not stay on the track. Being spaced out seems to work better than being angry.
