    Default Errors 8002AD23 & 8071023 downloading 1.20 patch

Hi! I downloaded Wipeout HD yesterday but when prompted to upgrade the transfer of the update always times out (usually between 8 and 15%) with error 8002AD23. After hanging for awhile I get a message saying An error occurred during the download operation (80710723). Does anyone have any idea what can be causing this, and if so, do they know how to fix it?

    Thanks!

going by the google search on these two they are dns/routing based errors.

are you NAT type 2? if not then you might need to put ps3 in dmz or open some ports. Personally i just dumped it in dmz, but then i am lazy

if that is sounding too techie for you try a direct connection to net bypassing router, if you can update then this is surely the problem and you will need to configure router properly.

Yes you are correct. It seems to be a router issue. I DMZ'd the PS3 and it worked. I am not sure I want to leave the PS3 out in the wild tho so I will poke around for the proper settings for the router.

    Thanks!

The PS3 is invulnerable to viruses and other stuff. It's not a PC, it uses a proprietary OS that nobody is able to work on, so no vulnerabilities have been discovered. Leaving it on DMZ is safe, however if you're looking for the ports to forward:

    TCP 80
    TCP 443
    TCP 5223
    UDP 3478-3479
    UDP 3658

Nah, it's just that I was at the page on port forward that talked about the PSN ports not later than yesterday, so I remembered it xD
