Nice! You've updated the HUD so there is a futurisitc yet readable font on there. The HUD arguably looks much better now. In fact it doesn't look too 80/90s anymore

There was engine flare before the new HUD. Proof

Unless this build with the old PulsE/W'O"3 style HUD was running at a lower detail level (It doesn't really seem like that), why was it taken out?

It was a big, fat ugly low-res sprite, and therefore offensive to mine eyes.

Oh, and big sprites are not good for 1080p 60fps performance.

Anyway, fret not about the engine glow - wait till you see what the effects guys (Ste and Richard) have come up with since you last saw the game in action.

bit off-topic, but how is HD rendering reflections? are you using environment mapping or raytracing? or some other method I don't have a clue about?

So we can expect some kind of engine flare? It would be very cool if you could achieve this, since the exhaust trail looks really hot with all the blue flames, while the engine itself looks cool (temperature wise ) because there is practically no effect coming out of it. And therefore it doesn't look very realistic.
Nice to hear that you are still improving the game, a few weeks before release

Not realistic? If you'd ever stuck your head in the unfiltered exhaust straight from a engine that's "just ticking over", you'd be surprised by how hot it is...

    The screens are looking sweet
I don't think they'll be using ray-tracing for reflections omega , real time ray-tracing is still very much in its infancy , they're more likely using environment mapping

I thought that, but this is a PS3 were talkin' about
just kidding, I doubt that even a PS3 could do real-time ray tracing, hell my PC takes almost a min for a single frame!

So apparently you have experimented in order to know this. That explains a lot.

What I meant to say is that little effect comes out of the engine on the screenshots we have seen so far, and it looks like the exhaust trail is there for no apparent reason. It follows the ship, but it not attached to it, a link is missing between the exhaust port of the engine and the trail, and that would be, you guessed it, the flare.

I certainly hope that the UK Official PlayStation site is correct.

Hmm more like a possible month+ then a meer few weeks, that sites dates are a lot of shite anyway they'll change that at the last minute.

Cryptic and unpublicized thats the way Wipeout seems to be released these days, must be good for the sales and what not.
