Just made this one... just shifted the colors around on the piranha to give it a more of a grungy feel...

QirexAAAs' post #750 on page 75 from this thread helped me a lot to do the panelling. Try to use the 2d editor to fix the AG-S logo and the red chain, that would finish the skin totally!

Yeah, I downloaded the panelling template he posted. I attempted panels on my current skin (near the nose and the sides of the ship), but I'm coming to realize panelling works best if you pick colours slightly off the ones you're panelling against as opposed to a standard grey and black for the lines.

The chain and AGS logos were split because in the template there's a split separating the three sides of the nose area, so anything that crosses it ends up cut off. The image of the AG-S boy has skinnier legs than normal for that reason. I'll see what I could do though, but thanks for that.

Here's the right side of the craft. Since my last image, I redid the black nose cone and removed the logo clutter around the flag and instead put the rest of it in. Also put a Canadian and Japanese flag on the back center of the tail and added some grills to the airbrakes. Oddly enough too, up until recently I didn't put any eyes on the AGS boy. Heh.

Uau, finaly a Triakis!!! I thought I will never see one again. Good job trentdf, I really like it but do I see some reminiscences from DoggThang’s “Samael’s Infection” (http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/sho...&postcount=555 ) ? Not that it would be wrong but I think he should be mentioned, you know, as “based on X made by Y”. Just a thought.
Keep up the good work. It is wonderful to know that there are others who care for Triakis enough to deal with the difficulties of creating a skin for it.
    --------------------------------------------
Kanar, that is ONE HELL OF A SHIP!!!! How on earth was it made ??? Can you poste some more pictures of it ? It seems to resemble the Metal Gear Ray skin. I’ve been trying to do that for Triakis ever since the editor went online. Marvelous !!!!!

Yeah ricanebleu, I'm lucky (at least one good reason to come to my avalon thing lol). Leungbok is a great http://www.wipeoutzone.com/forum/sho...7&postcount=59 skin designer (& a great wiper too!). Here's another pic of my baby. I can share the template with you, I'm sure leungbok will be ok. We need an Hd skin editor!

crap, they do look similarish, but i think it was completely coincidental (unless my subconcious was remembering...). That is an awesome skin by DoggThang, so i may have to rip it off in the future intentionally

KIGO heres that skin if you want, i'd put it up on wipeout-game but i'd be happier if it wasn't up for everyone to dl. It may turn out **** cause i had to shrink it quite a bit...

You're missing [/quote] at the end, that's why it's not working. Add it to the end of where you want the quote to stop and voilÃ*.

    Nice skins by everyone btw.

Ok, here goes, my new edited list. Apologies if these dont work:

    - Wipeout Pure Logo Design FEISAR: - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...904_020902.jpg

    - Japanese "Banzai Maru" AG SYSTEMS: - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...904_021457.jpg

    - "Jetfire Cybertron Systems plain" FEISAR 1: - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...904_033523.jpg

    - Jetfire Cybertron Systems plain" FEISAR 2: - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...904_025402.jpg

    - "Cola Zero FEISAR" - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...907_045842.jpg

    - "Maximal ASSEGAI" (very first attempt!): - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...lAssegai01.jpg

    - "Pure Logo 2 FEISAR": - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...904_020902.jpg

    - NOTE. The following was created by another person. I found the design online and merely added a texture under it. I have also made a rusty version and im also in the process of "dinging" up the red painted stripes, a-la starwars x-wing style. All praise should go to the talents of the chap/chappette who made the original (if only I knew who that was):

    - "Galactica MKII Viper - Steel Texture FEISAR" - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...907_032726.jpg

    - "Pink Hello Kitty AG SYSTEMS" - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...907_045005.jpg

    - "Jetfire Cybertron TEXTURE FEISAR: - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...907_112501.jpg

    - "Asahi Super Dry AG SYSTEMS" - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...907_052009.jpg

    - "Basic Logo TEXTURE FEISAR" - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...908_214101.jpg

    - " WIPOUT LOGO ALT FEISAR" - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...906_212010.jpg

As you can all see, Im not Da Vinci, but some, ahem, interesting designs can be made on some craft with google images, textures and some copy and paste work.

I also have rusty versions of the original craft skins, which can be made using photoshop/paint.net and some layers and a combine tool too.

@trentdf : My apologies then , it’s just that I use that skin so often and I love it so much that the common parts just hit me when I see your skin. By the way, I just copied your skin in the editor to have a better look at it and I believe it could be improved. Some of the details are not completely distinguishable. The concept however I really like it and it could turn into something special with a little more work
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
@leungbok : Man you are a real artist, but if your work until now was typical for the “Team Avalon”, with the “"mag stealth camo” you really surpassed everyone, and the competition already imposed a high level. Really impressed .I hope to see more of these marvels coming .
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
@kanar : Come on !! What kind of a team member would I be if the only “good reason” to join your league was to get your birthday gift??!!! Not that it wouldn’t be a good reason :lust
Seriously now, I’ll join the Avalon League as soon as I’ll be able to connect my PSP to the internet (still no wifi acces point )
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
@Primal-Convoy: nice “Jetfire (Cybertron Systems)”, looks ok & clean but it still needs some work , as for your technique in making skins out of photos …it has potential but used just like copy paste will never work, the “Banzai Maru” texture for example has a nice look by itself but on the ship looks patched , there are lines out of place and the pattern is messed up . Maybe if you would use more simple textures you’ll have better results.
    -----------------------------------
Now just a thought : wouldn’t it be nice to have a top of the best skins designs of 2008?

    THanks for the feedback!

I would really love to see some "beginner's guides" to making skins.

    Id love to see:

    - Basics

    - Easy/foolproof ways to draw and align designs on the panels (perhaps people "cheat" by using their own 3d model software and import/export from that? Or have easy "layer" techniques via photoshop etc).

    - A collection of "decals" of things like ship parts (vents, gun ports etc), racing deigns (craft generator friendly ship team logos etc), mottos/team names

    - guides to the "safe areas" of where to apply said "stickers"

    - basic "colour in and use" pre-designed ship templates (like several black and white designs of ships with lines, racing stripes etc made for newbs like us to fiddle around with)

    - a guide to texture craft (is it always needed?)

    - Other basic tips and strategies.

Basically, I think that although my style is no way great, it still shows others that you can make a half decent looking craft of your own armed only with the skin generator, Google image search and MS Paint!

A REALLY easy way is to use plain simple textures, like "steel", "rust", "dirty metal", "camo", etc. These can then have a basic logo or motto typed or cut and pasted onto a "safe" (ie" you dont need to line it up too much) area of the ship and you are ready to go!

The original is here (NOT mine):

    - Scroll down to download it

(btw, how DO I take a snapshot of the final 3D preview of a craft in the wipeout skin editor, as shown at the website linked to above?)

All I did was search google for either "dirty metal", "rust" or "steel" or "dirty steel" and then combined it with "texture". Then when I found a good one, I merely used MS Paint, selected the "white as transparent" and copied and pasted the Viper template over the metal texture. Voila:

    If that doesnt work, then:

Or just go to the main website:

    Then search Feisar skins

(BTW, why does this guy "copyright" other people's craft?) Is that why hardly anyone posts there?
