    Question Youtube vids?

Can someone please put a video of each track from Fusion on youtube, whenever i look for any all i get on there is crap quality vids of some emulator, and yes, i am one of the very few who liked fusion.

There is a member of this forum who says he will only do it if there is an outcry, so here it is.

Good quality videos of any Wipeout would be appreciated, I think.

The problem with youtube is the compression they use on all uploaded videos, it can turn a work of art into a rotting carcass.

yeh. the thing to do would be to ul a pretty good quality vdo then it'll be compressed to a 'normal' youtube quality.

That member of the forum may not be here still. I'm sorry, I don't own Fusion, I can't help you there. But I have noticed there aren't many Fusion vids on YouTube that aren't Florion Heights, the others seem to be missing. Actually, I would like to see some high speed videos of any Wipeout. I don't really think that there's much point in Wipeout at Vector and Venom. (Except to boost your gold medal count).

Uh, I might do some more WO videos with my webcam, but hmm, may have to bring the Playstation down to the computer for that to work. Except, my upstairs computer is being repaired soon, so I'll just use that. I could have a side by side video comparing WO1 PS and WO1 PC!!! The thought makes me drool! And with 2097 PS/2097 PC!

Are there any alternatives to YouTube around with better video compression quality?

I`m using dailymotion.com, which is better than YouTube but still Flash video. You can also upload longer videos and bigger files, which means potential better quality. There`s webfives.com, which I think allows you to stream WMV, but has a small space limit per user. here is a list of video hosting services I found.

You can also use a file download service such as rapidshare.com. Then you can encode the video in very high quality. Problem is that people will have to go through the hassle of downloading and your video files will expire after a while. Streaming sites are much more convenient.

I think Zargz has the answer. Video needs to be optimized for YouTube or Dailymotion type streaming at the initial compression stage, before uploading. Use the file types they recommend, and also record in the highest resolution you possibly can because it will show in the final result. But highly compressed video is never going to look great on something that moves quickly like a Wipeout game. Quite often things look very sharp on the start line, but as soon as the race starts the blockiness appears because of the keyframe intervals. It`s just the nature of compressed video. If you want to lose the blockiness you have to have more keyframes and a higher data rate, but then your video won`t stream anymore for most internet users.

It's been quite some time since I played Fusion or watched videos of someone else playing it... Nice vids, good piloting even though you don't seem to use the fully upgraded version of the piranha ship there. You know what I like best about Wipeout Fusion vids? The total absence of barrel rolls!

lol Well my biggest issue with Pulse is the fact that it just doesn't feel like a Wipeout game. It looks like a Wipeout game, it has ships and weapons like a wipeout game, and even the music has grown on me... but the gameplay is horrid. THere's something about the physics and the way the ships handle that I just can't get accustomed to, and it really breaks the game for me. I never once enjoyed playing it from the day I got it to whenever I packed up my PSP.

Fusion somehow still feels more like Wipeout for me than Pulse... Plus I logged a LOT of time with Fusion back in the day, so I've always just had fond memories (except for that one track on the moon or something with the orange flip panels... one spot would always drop me right through the track and I'd have to respawn... Rage.)

I know what you mean with Pulse. It's not very "Wipeout", but I just enjoy it for what it is (and learning Pulse certainly didn't help me with the other games ). I wasn't a hardcore fan of the series, I just bought Pulse because I'd just bought a PSP and thought it looked like fun, and it was (still is)!
I did have Fusion years ago though, and also played the crap out of it. It was awesome.
Now that I've played all the Wipeout games, it seems to me that Fusion, Pulse and HD don't play like the others (which I also enjoy playing), but they're still great games IMO. Especially Pulse (the best). XD
