Exclamation In-game screenshots (which could be used on the WZ homepage, methinks)

I took these screenshots a few days ago using the DevHook Screenshot/Video Capture Module. I had the idea that they could be used on the WZ homepage - in the Anti-Gravity Action box-out, to be specific. The possible desgription for each of them is hinted at in the links:

An Auricom takes a nostalgia trip on Altima VII

Tearing through the first corner at Citta Nuova

Feisar, Icaras, and Puma 1 jostle for position at Staten Park

The start of another race at Koltiwa

Going right at the fork of Paris Hair

Puma 1 treads carefully through Sebenco Peak

A Tigron lives life on the edge at Sol 2

If I could, I'd remove the 'WipEout Pure - press any button' bit from the bottom of each of them, but I don't think that's possible (or at least, I currently lack the image editing tools and skills to do it).

I plan on taking more tommorow, to put in some more variety. Plus I've GOT to take a pic of a Feisar on Sebenco Climb. Just got to.

    What do y'all reckon?

some of those may work ok if cropped right, but otherwise the ships in many of those shots are too small relative to the size of the image.
cropping it could also solve the press any button problem

Rob would never allow a Puma or Coke being at the mainpage

    Hmmm, okay then.

I'm guessing the Omega ships are a no-no too. Finding ideal shots is going to be much harder than I thought.

There's actually a whole load of images that were created for the press without any over lay that I could use. Compared to the other work that I could be doing for the site, the little random images often seem a fairly trivial thing to put any effort into.

    // looks around hard drive

    Actually, hold the front page!

I've found the original screen grabs I took from Wipeout 3 SE, which are 320 by 240 - not giant, but I could re-make the mini-pics in a way more suited to larger resolutions.

That would make it worth adding images for Pure.

    Result!

I'm not totally wrong 320*240 is the resulution of old TVs. Or the screens were made out of recordings taken from the game (QVGA on Wiki)

Btw: maybe you could make these screens available in the download section?
...and you didn't find your Fusion disk again, right?

@ Zerow: How did you make these screens? Or did you find them somewhere else?

I know (as I have the press disk by my own) but you said one time in the past that you had a disk with the Fusion images from the main page in a higher resulution and you couldn't find it anymore

As I said in the first post, I took them myself using the DevHook Screenshot/Video Capture Module, a homebrew application. It operates while you have DevHook emulating 2.71. At any point in the PSP menu or while playing a game, press the Music button (just to the left of the Select button), and an image of what's currently on the PSP screen is captured and saved to your Memory Stick. You can also use it to record very rough videos of the PSP menu or in-game footage, but as they're just a series of images, animation is rather jerky and there's no sound.

Anyways, as promised, I took a few more images today. Tell me what you think:

You get the best screens when using the rear-view.
Just start a race, go to the place you want to take the screenshot(s), wait till all ships passed you by, turn around you ship, activate rear-view, wait till the ships overlapped you and then make your screenies

Thanks for that tip! Never thought of that, to be honest.

I'll hopefully have enough time tommorow to take even more pics.

Right then, time for some more screenshots! Taking these from the rear-view mirror was extremely hard since frequently:

    a) An Omega ship sneaked into the shot.

    b) One of the other ships (seemingly deliberately) smashed into me, knocking me away from my desired perch.

    c) I hesitated at the wrong moment, missing a potentially fantastic shot.

However, I got some decent pics in the end, and here they are:

A mad dash for the finish at Vohl Square

Assegai approaches the up-hill corkscrew at Cardcity Run

    The hairpin at Citta Nuova

Taking the bottom one was actually much easier than the other two, since it was in Free Run mode and so I didn't have to worry about the three annoyances hinted at above. It would definitely look better if I could get some ships into the shot though.

    More to come tommorow, hopefully!

    yes, looking nice

You can also change the angle by using the airbrakes - that can give you more dynamics to the shots.
And one more thing: The Omega ships are seperate packs, you can delete them for the time you make your shots. Same goes for Puma1 and Puma2 as long as you don't want to make shots on the Delta tracks.
Then there's just zone and Medievil which are still there (but, compared with all the other ships you have if you don't delete the packs from the memory stick, it's a relative small number).

not an issue if you use the US version instead... actually that gets the omega ships out of the way too...
you can deal with zone and medieval by creating a new user profile

But I'm not sure if 2nd livery and all tracks are available without unlocking Medievil and/or Zone.
(You get Zone with finsihing all zone tracks gold, right? If so there is just Medievil leaving)

on my eu copy I still haven't opened medieval, but I do have livery - so you can do it
I guess we could refer to hellfire's guide, I can't remember how you activate each unlockable
