    Default the Original tournament

i was thinking at work (yeah i got a job, the worlds gone mad) if any one was interested in doin some form of tournament on the original wipeout.

a few basic rules i though of:

    1. all competitors must pm me to register (saves cluttering of the zone and i'll make a list of all the competitors and post them here so we all know who's in)

    2. the speed class will be detirmined by a vote, but im guessing that you would all like to do the fastest one.(if u want to vote name the class at the end of your pm when u register)

    3. the tournament will be the full championship on the game.

    4. the winner will be determined by the amount of total pionts he/she gains through the championship.

    5. after competitors have completed each race, make a note of:
    position
    points
fastest lap on that race, not the fastest lap you have previously done
    lap times (all 3)
    race times
and after total completion of the championship; acumulated points

if any body wants to add now is the time, ill give.... untill end of may for all thos wanting to take part to notify me

Default Bringing great honor to the house of Chang

A lot of practice on Arridos and Silverstream begins to show. I'm starting to reach my old records, and I can see the possibility of beating them.

Flying as Daniel Chang for AG Systems:
    Code:
    Altima (1st=9) - 59.6 / 58.5 / 58.4 = 2:56.5 - 10 seconds better!
    Karbonis (1st=9) - 37.7 / 37.9 / 35.9 = 1:51.5 - New fastest lap!
    Terramax (1st=9) - 38.7 / 37.7 / 40.6 = 2:01.0 - 4 seconds better
    Korodera (1st=9) - 1:04.4 / 1:01.2 / 59.0 = 3:04.6 - 10 seconds better!
    Arridos IV (1st=9) - 55.9 / 56.2 / 59.5 = 2:51.6 - 2 seconds worse
    Silverstrm (1st=9) - 46.9 / 43.5 / 43.4 = 2:13.8 - 5 seconds better
    Comments:

Totalling 54 points, I'm quite happy with my results.

I've finally "re-found" the straight through the first nasty Silverstream jog on the shortcut, that was what I needed to get in order to take the gold. I'm very close to my best lap time (42.9) for each lap, it's just the troublesome first lap slowing me down.
A blazing race of Karbonis gave me my best ever lap time for that track, that was thrilling.
Marked improvement in all areas except Arridos, which I guess I have no direction to go in but "worse". 8 )
I also finally managed to pull my Altima game out of the trash, but it's still not good enough to compete with Toma. I guess he beats me on that one.

Coming down off the 1st place Silverstream high, I raced some FireStar just for kicks: 46.9 + 43.5 + 43.4 = 2:13.8, possibly the best I've done on that track inside a tournament.

Not much chance I'll be able to race a better set than this.

Phew! I had hoped, that you'd add another month. I'll add my times as soon as possible. Didn't really have the time to play some Wipeout in the last weeks 'cause of some intense "world-cup watching" and a lot of work to do at my company...

    Time Extended!

Excellent! Now I'll have a chance to get some _really_ good times in!

I've been away the past couple days, up at the cottage, thinking "damn, this is the last weekend of June and I can't do another WO tournament run!"

Default Taking sweet Arial for a ride...;)

Did a few time trials during the last week and took another chance on the tournament last night. I must say, I'm very pleased with my improvement. Here we go:

    Pilot: Arial Tetsuo
    Team: Auricom

    Altima - total time: 02:54.4 - 1st place (9 points)
    00:59.2 / 00:57.6 / 00:57.6
What a race! I set a new lap record on my second lap and equalled that time on my third! That's the way to start the tournament...

    Karbonis - total time: 01:57.0 - 1st place (9 points)
    00:39.8 / 00:37.9 / 00:39.3
Not my best race on that track, but still an acceptable time I think...

    Terramax - total time: 01:58.8 - 1st place (9 points)
    00:39.5 / 00:41.8 / 00:37.5
Beat my race record by 1.2 seconds. But not much improvement to my last entry though...

    Korodera - total time: 03:25.9 - 1st place (9 points)
    01:08.7 / 01:10.4 / 01:06.8
Going just fast enough to place first here.

    Arridos - total time: 02:53.9 - 1st place (9 points)
    00:57.6 / 00:59.3 / 00:57.0
Missed my best race time only by a second! Good that I played this track so much on 3SE...

    Silverstream - total time: 02:27.1 - 2nd place (7 points)
    00:47.4 / 00:49.4 / 00:50.3
This track is giving me nightmares and headaches! I managed to pull off a good first lap, but then my driving became worse and worse. Next time I'll kick your butt Kel Solaar!

Even though I messed up Silverstream again, I'm still pleased with my overall performance I must say. A total of 52 championship points means a respectable showing for me. Maybe I'll have the time to try again next week.

Those are some nice Altima and Terramax times there Tomahawk, I'm not sure I'll be able to get near them.

And damn PW, how do you manage to get 1st on Silverstream with that time? You must have some nifty weapon techniques or something, 'cause being 10 seconds faster than you I'm just barely ahead of the 3rd place guy and can't even see the leader. 8 P

Ah, if I can just get one more good run at it and 3-5 seconds knocked of each time and I'll have some tournament results I can be really proud of...

its a bit of luck and skill, a turbo start and getting the weapons u need, its not the time its the position u finish

I think the key to placing first on silverstream is a very good first lap. I was in second place after the first lap and even though my second and third lap were slower than my first, the second place AI never overtook me. But I never even saw the leader during my race...

By the way, what routes do you guys take on silverstream? For me, I'm always going left at every track split.

8 D The eternal question! "Which splits to you use on Silverstream?"

It comes up any time WO1 is discussed.

I'm fairly unusual it seems, I do two right splits until the end, where I take the left. Of course.

The middle split is usually to the right, most people prefer the way it lines you up for the important left split after, so you're a little unusual there.

So the most common path is Left, Right, Left.
    You're Left, Left, Left.
    I'm Right, Right, Left.

All we're missing is a Right, Left, Left! 8 )

from the start i go left, the follow the track until the next split after that big hill then take a right, then the split directly after that i go left again just because its more of a straight line to follow instead goin 90 degrees in a different direction, this is a good tip for any track with a split then followed again by another (ie arridos and silverstream) its fastest to follow the track, for example if i were to take a left on the first split i would go straight ahead and take the right on the second split, just something there for you all to think about
