Thats a terrific article - thanks for the tip!

Man, this game sounds almost too good to be true I sure hope they dont mess it up in anyway. Speaking of draw distance, in one of the levels on Ridge Racers, there's a moment where you can see all along the track and across a cliff to the farside of the level where the track continues - and there is NO clipping.

Please God this game plays well! I'm glad they've got the old tracks back - but Ill have to wait and see what I think of this 'tron' style...

Cool, this here looks SO Wipeout: http://media.psp.ign.com/media/682/6...g_2530478.html! Looks to me like the first track of the original WO.

Although either of you could be right (and that would have been exciting because it does look fantastic) I don't think you are.

I've heard that the old tracks in Pure will be in Tron style with colouredy graphics.

Tron style?! Do you know were you've got that info?
I don't think I'd like that too much. Motorhead had a cheat to make the game look like Tron - that's the way these things should be implemented into games.

I think by tron style it's implied that it is in the style of the WO3 prototype tracks, the ones in the pure screenshots that look that way out.

    yeah, that's right.
Damn, i was hoping that the classic tracks would be all brand new texured, maybe redesigned (kind of SE style) but surely not being in a Tron-style. I'm just wondering how it would feel to fly all these rainbow coloured flashy tracks. Maybe it's similar to being in a club where the lights won't let you see a damn thing. I hope not.

But then you are right. ;) To rephrase a German comedian: I could tell you a thousand valid excuses as to why I overread that part - if I knew any. *g*

I don't think the tron tracks are the old designs...

The Gamespy article mentions racing the 'Alpha' league, and racing on tron-like tracks, among others within that league. It also mentions a 'Beta' league and 'Classic' league. My assumption would be that these tron designs are prototype tracks, though I could be wrong (and I often am!)

Every article I read makes me more and more bitter. There is no way I can afford a PSP.

Now that's great, there's finally some footage containing sound and I'm at work where I got everything EXCEPT a computer with a soundcard...! ;-) Can't wait to listen to it, though.

no, it can't be Mandrashee. There are underwater tunnels, right, but after the start there is a right turn on mandrashee and how you can see in the video there's no one.

I played those tracks more than 100 times, don't say I'm wrong

    edit:

    100 times?
    no, more than 1000

Personally I think this is a new track, but whatever - this is a very revealing video in terms of ship responsiveness.

I myself dont use inboard-view too often but it seems from this video to be very very like 2097 although it seems that there may be NO hard hitting of walls whatsoever... which I hope Im wrong about - dont get me wrong - scraping can be nice but if you crash you want a realistic effect not some eternal buffer on every side? Am I right? Or wrong?

I guess I'll just have to wait to play it. Nevertheless this game looks better everytime I see it.

What would I have to do to get a copy BEFORE the 25th?

 Open a videogames shop? Could be worth it

Have Sony confirmed a release date for the PSP yet?

You are dAmn right. Although the wall hitting model looks an improvemement on fusion, whatever. The scraping sound is nice though, as are the sounds overall.... and it looked like there may have been some bottoming out going on. Who really knows until they`ve played it?

    tantalising vid.... thanks Sausehuhn.
