That's slightly different.
I mean an actual saved replay of the race. So you could go into it and view the race from someone else's perspective.
Would also help making some banging videos

I know Snake, it’s just not as simple as it could/should be... in frigging 2017.

Blackwiggle mentioned it in another thread, but I think he's right, i swear HD did have a spectator mode at first but it was horribly broken. The first week or so of release.
i could be chatting utter shite though

Yep, the PS3 did have a spectator option (for MP) - it was extremely laggy and the stats showed that about 0.1% of people actually used it.
As this is now supported via the PS4 software (you can ask to observe someones gameplay) - it was a feature we pulled very early on in development.
The entire networking code of the game was rewritten from scratch for Omega, so quite a lot of these sorts of features were removed because they are now supported on the system itself.
Back to the original topic:
Replays: Yes, I've wondered that too, but the code doesn't exist, and whilst it's not hugely complicated to put it in. It is time consuming and we felt there were better things to concentrate on. Sadly most of games development is about choosing between two really great ideas and deciding which one happens and which one doesn't. Whatever we "picked" over a new replay feature was probably the right option at the time.
