Default Custom Soundtrack Support with Music Effects?

This was one of the primary features from HD/Fury, but it seems all custom music for this game is handled through the PS4's media player without any in game effects to the songs like we saw on PS3. Can anyone confirm this?

Can confirm, neither Media Player or Spotify have any effect on Zone mode. The sound bars are based on the game's soundtrack.

    That's a real shame.

I REALLY hope this can be remedied somehow. Spotify/Media Player music not having an effect on Zone kills like half of its appeal for me. Don't wanna have to boot up the PS3 to get that now D:

Unfortunately it won't be coming back anytime soon unless Sony changes their policy: http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/11/...ions-not-easy/

Guys, that was always going to be the case. How did you expect two separate processes to interact actively on a system like the PS4? Even a PC operating system isn’t built for that.

When you play Zone, my advice is to play only the tracks from the game that you like. Is it possible to disable certain songs?

From what I know you can change the playlist from Club, Drum and Bass, or both. But you cannot disable certain songs.

How were we supposed to know that? It was a primary feature from the PlayStation 3 version, there was no reason not to expect the same features from that game. I could honestly care less about Spotify and media player integration, but no way at all to upload custom soundtracks to interact with the game like they did on PS3? It was pretty surprising.

We’re not talking about the same thing. You’re talking about the HD/Fury feature allowing you to play your own music directly inside the game.

And here people are expecting Omega Collection to pick up the sound input from another application playing music outside of the game.

It has been known from the beginning that Omega Collection wouldn’t have the custom tracks feature, since Sony has a new policy on music rights on the PS4. It was confirmed half way through development as well.

As a personal gamers opinion I think it's to do with the Share functionality of the PlayStation - I actually don't know for sure, but I'd guess it's because you can stream and share videos on youtube and if you had custom music in there, or copyrighted material, or just .wav files of libellous podcasts.. you'd be heading towards very murky legal ground...

Ah yeah, right, that’s also the information we got here, I had forgotten what the exact reason was, that must be it.

We live in a world where it's hard to please everyone...

Don't get me wrong, I am very much pleased with the game. Literally haven't played anything else since I got this and will be playing it for some time to come, especially Zone mode. And I will continue to support the Wipeout series however I can in the future. One unfortunate omission won't kill my enjoyment of Zone or the whole game, that's just silly.

Coming from Wipeout 3, I must say that the soundtrack in Omega Collection is definately not for everyone. You either love it or hate it. For me personally, the kind of pumping dubstep distracts me so that I have to use Spotify. It just sound all same to me except some drum and bass songs that I like. I think it needs a proper oldskool Wipeout soundtrack pack. I mean I would buy it if it was an add-on DLC that would sync with game visuals.

Also I don't understand what's up with Sony for not allowing custom soundtrack. Sony could easily just make some kind of warning about copyright infringement if you stream or upload with custom soundtrack or disable that feature while streaming.

You won’t get a music pack as a DLC because they’re not going to go and acquire the rights to old songs, which is notably expensive and difficult.

As for amending their policy, I guess it’s just less of a hassle to keep it that way. Either way, good luck to get them to change it!
