I used to complain about the PS+ service as well [Before I actually joined up], thinking it was a rip off, but now I don't mind it, and actually think it's pretty good value if you take advantage of additional discounts.
The Winter sale that was on in Aus last month got me Horizon Zero dawn for 60% off because I was a PS+ subscriber, and that came out after the Omega Pack...great game by the way....so the PS+ subscription saved me at least a 3rd of it's Annual cost with that one purchase.
The free monthly games can easily cover the cost of the yearly subscription, especially if you own all three PS consoles, sure they aren't always great titles every month, but you will get at least a couple of free 'A1' or 'A2' titles each year.....Last month was Just Cause 3 and Assassins Creed Freedoms Cry.....coming this month is ..
    • Child of Light (PS4)
    • inFamous Second Son (PS4)
    • We Are Doomed (PS4, PS Vita)
    • Hatoful Boyfriend (PS4, PS Vita)
    • RIGS Mechanized Combat League (PSVR)
    • Truck Racer (PS3)
    • Handball 2016 (PS3)

Plus the fact that you can have your game saves on the PSN cloud, and anybody that suffered their PS3 suddenly dying and losing all your game saved data [if you hadn't backed it up] would tell you, that's a almighty disaster, especially as if you send your console into Sony for repair they will wipe your HD as a security measure.

A Xbox LIVE yearly subcription is going to cost you nearly the same as a PS+ subscription, without a lot of the benefits, I know which I prefer.

Thing is, the subscription fee has shot up since September, way above what I consider to be affordable. Which is basically what drove me into buying it earlier.

As for the free games, I would've liked the system much more if the games were actually free and not on loan. It really is a shame that you lose access to all of them when your subscription ends.

And finally, a major disadvantage for me is that I don't even get cloud storage, since I now buy all my stuff (including PS+) on my Croatian account out of convenience, but use my original UK account to play games (I got a PS3 in 2007, years before Croatia got its own PS Store). It's great that I'm finally able to play WOOC online with you all, but I doubt I'll be renewing my subscription once it ends.
