It's lame that he had to change his track selections because of his opponents whining, but that stance about the speed class is total BS. Being able to keep a clean race line and eek out every millisecond of time in slower classes is as much a skill as getting around the tracks at phantom speed.

Even the fastest phantom pilots cannot do what texasalex can do at venom speeds.

By that logic, maybe the only true measure of a pilot skill is zone battle since that is technically where the fastest speeds will appear. It's a weak stance for competition.

you have to compete by whatever the rules say, so he really didn't have to change the selection. If the other person refused, wouldn't those choices just be forfeits?

If the guy made him change tracks simply because he didn't want to play them, HE is breaking the rules by simply refusing to play those tracks. It's silly, he's got nothing to do with the opponent's player's track choices (as long as they are according to the rules), and vica versa. If he was literally refusing to play unless the other player changed tracks, there's no question imo; disqualification.

ultimately it doesn't matter, since imre won all of his track choices anyway, and it seems a bit tedious to force them to play again. Imre should have been aware of the rules in the first place, yet he agreed at the time to play the match as it wound up being... so I think bw's assessment is fair.

Sorry, but no ! However doing some tricky BRs on slow classes requires as skills as doing hard tricks on phantom !

I think haiku's point was just that to get the top venom times, it takes a comparable amount of (different, if similar) skill as it takes to get top phantom times. Which is pretty much on the mark.

He just ended up wording it less than perfectly...

    @OBH & Amplificated !
Some BRs on the flat on phantom are not that easy to do also and with high speed they must be executed very quickly without losing the control of your ship ! Venom's BR are equaly hard to do because of the speed's lack, but you have some time to adjust your line, preparing your sideshift and recovering a decent line after the BR's boost.

It reminds me Leungbok, Pirah did that one time, he recorded his hands when playing hd lol. I think we could compare the hands of texasalex & the hands of pirah, for eg, on a same track at their respective speed. Could be interesting. Each speed class is challenging anyway, each has its specialist, and it's a good thing.
Regarding imre, well as we said on the arena, he was kind enough to accept bombel's requests, but sadly the stuff ended imo like the russian roulette; as it has been said above or at the arena, the actual decider round format is not the perfect way to go, clearly something to think about for future events.

Finally, I'm really sad to see this wave of withdrawals. Really hope we'll have a perfect show after round 3. We must definitely go back to smaller stuffs after this one lol.

On a more positive note, Oryx, Unctuous and I have finished recording the Cup Podcasts. The two who actually know about sound techniques will hopefully have them up as soon as possible. ^^

Result from The Hawks Division - 3rd Round

I had the pleasure of racing BillyC just minutes ago

    His choices:
ZB Syncopia (Target 55): BillyC wins
I just knew it: Not a chance in hell, that I could perform in ZB. Most of the time I was just being impressed how fast BillyC got closer and closer to Zone 55! Nice colours, though
ZB Anulpha Pass FW (Target 55): BillyC wins
    See above
Sebenco Climb FW (Phantom - Weps On - BR´s On - 5 laps): BillyC wins
A very close race - a 1 sec gap as far as I remember. (Made a stupid mistake!)

    My choices:
    Metropia FW (Phantom - Weps Off - BR´s Off - 5 laps): I win
After been participating in a psychedelic war, it was nice being home!
    Sol2 FW (Phantom - Weps Off - BR´s On - 5 laps): I win
    See above.
Anulpha Pass REV (Phantom - Weps On - BR´s On - 5 laps): BillyC wins
Crushed by weapons, while humming "Give peace a chance!"

Anulpha Pass FW (Rapier - Weps On - BR´s On - 4 laps): I win
Just for the fun of it, we raced the 7th Race. Luck went my way: Lots of boosting!

A well deserved 4-3 win to BillyC - and a BIG grats from me!

VIDS up later this week/weekend - (Going away for a short holiday tomorrow)

Too bad about the commotion about Imre's match, but hey; when you agree about something in the end you will have to accept the outcome, no matter how stupid the reason might be! And about that, for me Wipeout is about speed, and I don't see any speed in venom and flash....and also not in rapier really, but whatever

And Sorry fellow wipers, I will go after the merlin overtime matches, haven't had much time and am a bit lazy also lol

    Grtz

How to say it... Umm, I won't fly with DialgiX. Why? He's not taking this Cup seriously. I sended him couple messages - no answers. I understand that there is time difference between us (9h), but, BUT! I don't understand why he don't answer when he is online. I was online and noticed that he quits from psn, twice! I asked him why? And guess what. NO ANSWER! TWICE!

I don't wanna be judge in my own case, but I don't see any motivation from DialgiX.
