Well at Wimbledon Ichigo would be injured & Hellfire would advance to next round; but what about organising one or maybe more death brigades (between eliminated pilots) during avalon next week-end, and qualify the best pilot of this competition? I'm sure Hellfire would like to have to tough round instead of passing through like that.

The problem like mic-dk mentions is that anything we do will cause a delay.
It can be a small delay if for example it's a four-men tournament from the best of the eliminated ones.
It can be a long delay if we choose a 32 men tournament between each of the eliminated.
There will be no delay if we get either the next on the waiting list or if Ichigo concedes victory. Or he manages to find another machine to play on. He still has time until round 2 after all, plus the time to play round 2.

Maybe we worry about this too much, if he sends his PS3 to service now, count a month for the repairs and he'll still be in for round 2. It will be very tight of course but I think there can be an exception. Of course that means that whoever would win between Hellfire and Ichigo should be ready for round 3 immediately after the round 2 match is played.

Of course I'm saying one month for the repairs, but I'm hoping it's gonna be shorter. Here's a good read about repair time.

What about giving DialgiX another chance in another first round match against a new competitor, I know there were others who wanted to enter but couldn't. It may be the simplest way forward.

Well I'll see if Ichigo is def. out or if he's planning a quick repair. You're right Darkdrium, he could finally play his round 2 after all.

But if he can't make it, I think the easiest way to find a fair replacement would be to offer this seat during avalon : we're working on the name, sept. 17/18/19. Depending on the number of eliminated pilots interested in, we could organise a single or more ellaborated tourney... Or just offer the seat to this upcoming avalon mvp (if he's not already qualified lol). We still have time to deal with this issue nicely anyway.

EDIT : Well I was way too much reactive regarding this issue lol, Ichigo will be get himself another ps3 real soon, so everything's ok now, no need _for now_ to think about this possible death brigade something qualifying you for round 2 during next avalon.

ah ah good job Challenger, but sadly there's no free spots for the moment , as Ichigo could finally attend to round 2. But this is a nice initiative cos' everything can happen in the next rounds anyway.

I don't think it's really been resolved yet, so just wanted to explain why I really don't like this idea of people re-entering the cup, or entering at later stages. For many reasons:

1. This wasn't in the rules at the start. It's a knockout competition so I think that premise should be maintained.
2. Someone in the 3rd round simply should have been in the 1st and 2nd round.
3. Yes it's a fun competition, but given that there are real tangible prizes, I think it's unfair for some people to potentially have more chances to win them.
4. No matter how 'unlucky' it may seem to get drawn against a good pilot, this tournament is very flexible, and players have the chance to catch even the best player off guard by making careful track and mode choices.
5. People may not like to say it now, but I think if we're all honest, we'd feel a bit hard done by if we earned our place in a certain round against competitor A, and then got beat by competitor B, especially if that competitor was the victor of a different competition, who could in theory in the final of this one had they registered on time.
6. What would be the achievement in winning after being knocked out, and what would be the meaning of it all? People seem to be suggesting that a player might not feel that they progressed fairly if it was without having played someone in a particular round, but that would be exactly the case for the player entering half way through, only in that case it could be without having played 2 or three rounds.
7. It's all getting a bit complicated if we start doing this isn't it? What then happens if the replacement can't make it, etc etc etc? I feel it's good to apply the KISS principle for these kinds of things.

So yeah, if, for example, player A loses to player B in round 2, but can't make round 3, then either player B should take his place, or the opponent should progress to round 4 automatically. Personally, I think those are the only two fair options now that the competition has already started. Perhaps even toss a coin to decide which one to do this time around. We can see if the outcome works well and then lessons learned can be applied to the next Avalon Cup.

As for the RD competition - well it could still be good to do it, but if it were to go ahead I would do this:
Host it as a more competition which involves less commitment, both for those who missed out here and/or couldn't commit to this full competition. It could be a one-on-one league that lasts the duration of the Avalon Cup. Then, when the AC final has been played the winner of the RD competition could challenge the AC winner to a kind of exhibition, or champion's match against each other at the end. I would personally love to see that happen.

Anyway, just wanted to share my opinions on it (again).

i dont agree with new players entering the cup for all the reasons saturn states.

i dont think it is fair if a player advances to the next round without playing due to a drop out from the cup either.

i think it is a good idea for players eliminated from the round previous to have a shot at re-entry if a slot becomes vacant.
provided they were eliminated from the previoud round ie someone filling a semi finalist spot must have been a quarter finalist elimination not a first round elimination.

this also balances up for really bad luck of a lousy match ups too and as anyone can be eliminated the option is open to all to re-enter the cup provided of course there is a drop out and i hope there is not.

obviously the best players in the cup have the edge as they are more likely to re-enter but then who wants a rubbish champion who got lucky and never earned there prize.

thats my oppinion and not a dictation and i also respect others oppinions too. im sure kanar will make the best desision for maximum fun games for all.

this isnt tennis or wimbeldon so we can make up our rules that make game more fun if

Kiss principle... Awesome, learned something new there. Saturn thanks for this input, and well I'll tend to agree with you. But I was just thinking about the best way to fix a round 2 or later possible withdrawal. Obviously, I can't use the waiting list after round 1. So if **** happens, I thought the best idea would be to qualify the best eliminated pilot of the previous round, determined by challenger's RD competition. So we could say the qualified pilot will come back from hell . Anyway, everything's ok so far, Ichigo will have a new ps3 soon so no worries.
