more than 50 percent of those people appear not to be members of the wipeoutzone. this was not specifically forbidden in the rules. i am curious as to what the members think of this. is this an opportunity to expand our membership and participation by encouraging 'outsiders' to take part in our competitions? or is it something you do not agree with?

btw, please note that the deadline for entering times is Sunday night midnight, Pacific Standard Time [California, etc. which is also 8 am Monday, Greenwich Mean Time/Universal Time [used as a base on Windows98, and presumably other operating systems]. i did not enforce that cut-off date this first week because the continuing discussion of the challenge rules that did not start till after the competition already had, was still going on 3 days ago. don't forget, the competition on 2097/XL already began toDAY.

Well, I think only infox would know whether they're members of WipeoutZone or not.

If you were refering to the forums (which I think you might be), on the other hand, well, that doesn't really make any difference, some people just aren't forum posting types of people (LOL), or some might have enough places to post at already.

As long as they're signed up under the WipeoutZone tables on the main site (don't even really have to have times in, although that would be nice ;)), then as far as I'm concerned, they're members of WipeoutZone, and should be able to participate.


Of course, this is ultimately up to DJTechno, as this is his challenge.

Lance: the top pilots are all WZ members, and that's all that's important. Al sez that these people exist, and that these are their times, and it means more people in the challenge, so it's all good. The only time it could become a problem is if one of them had a masterful time, in which case I would need someone to tell me how they did it! And that requires the pilot to be a member. 8 )

G: for more than a year, and pretty much daily, i've checked the announcement at the top of the main WZ page for whom the new members are; with one possible exception, i don't recall seeing any of the seven people i don't know from the tables or the forums. admittedly, there were days when more than 2 people joined between my views of the page, so i could have missed someone. and my memory, while good, is not perfect.
i was referring to WZ, not to the forums.

Jay: i'm still waiting for Al to tell us how he does it, but i suspect that information would do me no good at all because it would no doubt take superior skill to implement any special techniques..... not to mention just to avoid the deadly wallbanging. :D

I would use the new methods for setting up the tables, but could someone explain them.
I will probably keep editing the first post as we go along so everything is right in one place. However there will be an overall standing on the top for easy view, then you can scroll down to see the individual games plus tracks.
IF I ever get your name or team or time wrong just throw an email at the bottom of this thread.

Al, i agree we should keep the points posting all in one place, even though it will get pretty large. but for the weekly times post, it might be better to have a different 'topic' for each week, and just lock the results after each deadline passes. if you agree, just start a new one whenever you're ready, as long as it's up by mmm... friday night would probably be early enough
