Is there a walkthrough guide for WO 2048 available. I did do a search, but I could not find it.

I am looking for a guide that tells me what events unlock what ships.

And also how can I beat the 5 lap race on Altima in the 2050 final. I use the Feisar racer, but I cannot come even close.

chalovak

I couldn't beat this challenge with Feisar speed either, but strangely enough Qirex speed helped me. ))

As for "unlockings".. Here, took it from gamefaqs cheats section:
AG-Systems: Agility - Successfully complete the 2048 Ship unlock event
AG-Systems: Fighter - Reach Rank 7
AG-Systems: Prototype - Successfully complete the Prototype challenge unlocked at Rank 26.
Auricom: Agility - Reach Rank 9
Auricom: Fighter - Reach Rank 46
Auricom: Prototype - Successfully complete the Prototype challenge unlocked at Rank 20.
Auricom: Speed - Reach Rank 41
Feisar: Agility - Reach Rank 13
Feisar: Prototype - Successfully complete the Prototype challenge unlocked at Rank 10.
Pir-Hana: Agility - Reach Rank 17
Pir-Hana: Fighter - Reach Rank 35
Pir-Hana: Prototype - Successfully complete the Prototype challenge unlocked at Rank 50.
Pir-Hana: Speed - Successfully complete the 2050 ship unlock event
Quirex: Fighter - Successfully complete the 2049 ship unlock event
Quirex: Prototype - Successfully complete the Prototype challenge unlocked at Rank 30.
Quirex: Speed - Reach Rank 24

Thank you for making me even feel worse. Yes I did turn it off :(

;)

More practice then.

Thanks Chalovak for the list. I have some things to do then.

Try the Pir-Hana Speed for that, I won with it.

:eek

so I need to use the shortcuts more and do less wall grinding, should be easy NOT

When do you get access to the A+ challenges?

Dpad or stick??? For now I use the Dpad, but I see many fast guys on youtube using the stick? Is the stick faster?

chalovak
2nd July 2012, 05:19 AM
Try Qirex speed, handling is better than the one of Pirahna.
Try this track at lower speed class first to nail the first shortcut,it will give one additional barrel roll and it will come in handy if you are willing to get the Beat Zico trophy in the future.
Don't try to repeat all the BRs shown on the video, for example the last one - is not mandatory to win the race, others are pretty simple to perform.
Good luck.

In A andn A+, on Altima, I would bet on an AG-S Speed ;)

A+ challenges open after 25+ rank. With each rank you get new challenge.

As for usage of stick or d-pad, I prefer the letter, for it gives me better control of steering, stick is too loose for me. But I am no super racer, maybe I'm wrong. )))

In A andn A+, on Altima, I would bet on an AG-S Speed ;)
Qirex speed is faster and Altima is not the track where handling is of top priority. And qirex speed's handling is ok anyway. IMHO, of course. )))

Well, I am still on rank 13. So it will take some time.

Thing is, I only started playing WO on the psp with Pure. Wen GTpsp came out I switched to that. But after many years grinding the Nurnburgring, I really love WO 2048.

I did play WO hd for quite some time, but getting some TV time with 2 young kids is not always easy :)

Thank you for answering. The reward / unlocking in WO 2048 is a bit fuzzy and hard to understand. Hard, just as the game itself. But every time I boot WO 2048 I am amazed at the stunning visuals. It is the best looking Vita game.

Temet

G-Superpilot, Mad-Ice, Leungbok and Asayyeah use D-Pad, they are quite fast too ;)

Chalovak : depends on the people. I personally hate the Qirex, it's a fat and heavy ship, I prefer light ones such as Feisar or Ag-S speed ;)

No, no, no, don't get me wrong. :) I totally agree with you on that matter, Qirex is heavy, but - I don't know why - only Qirex speed granted me Elite pass on this final event.

Well, I am still on rank 13. So it will take some time.
I assume you haven't got Elite pass for every event, otherwise your rank would be higher giving you more ships to choose. In that case you could find the proper ship for yourself for that event.

Elite for every event ??? Hell no. I think I will try to finish all the other events on normal and some perhaps on elite before I try to do the final race of 2050. On the other hand, I see that the top 10 of the world user AGS or Feisar speed ships.

OveReAction
2nd July 2012, 12:59 PM
No, Elite is not a difficulty, you get Elite Pass when you complete the goal REALLY further, like finishing 1st place. If you don't Elite Pass them all, you don't get that PSVita trophy.

Temet
2nd July 2012, 09:50 PM
I don't want to be mean... but if you can't get Elite pass easily on the campaign, be prepared to scream when you'll try A+ Challenges!
The difficulty is REALLY higher there ;)

chalovak
3rd July 2012, 05:15 AM
Now that you've mentioned A+ challenges again, Temet, I would like to ask this:
What is the secret behind getting Elite pass on these challenges. Which ship is better? Should I ignore other ships and just race, trying to avoid grinding; or should I use an offensive strategy?
I usually go with Feisar speed, but even on Queen's Mall (which is one of the easiest tracks out there) I manage to get just a Pass. Looking at global records I have a feeling that Auricom speed might help, but I need 10 more ranks to get it.
Guess, I should concentrate on Multiplayer campagn now.

Temet
3rd July 2012, 08:55 AM
Multiplayer campaign is a pain in the :turd , A+ challenges are way more fun :nod

Well, I don't know why, but Ag-S really seems overpowered in A+.
So, except for Capital Reach (Feisar prototype), I highly recommend you to go for Ag-S speed.

I'm far from being a terrific wiper, so it was not an easy task to win these challenges, but I did it.
My recommendation is to go for green pads, boosts are your friends! Autopilot can help sometimes.
The hard part is to get in first place. Once you're in first place, no right for heavy mistake or you're screwed.

This is fast, this is hard, this is WipEout! :rock

PS : Sol was the easiest track for me, by far! You can try for this one if unlocked.

How can I try Altima on a lower speed class if I have not beaten the 2050 final event?

And that is why I miss racebox so badly.

With WipEout 1 and a Playstation! :g

No, Elite is not a difficulty, you get Elite Pass when you complete the goal REALLY further, like finishing 1st place. If you don't Elite Pass them all, you don't get that PSVita trophy.

That is clear. I just miss the fact that you cannot set the difficulty level. Getting Elites on every event is not realistic for me. I just want to unluck the speed challenges. When I passed the final of 2049 I got access to 8 tracks on C and B speedclass. If I can get 10 tracks on C, B, and A class that would be great. I hope I can achieve that some time.

Sometimes I spent like 20 tries on a race to achieve normal or elite. Do wipeouters consider that normal?

I guess WO is just a damn hard game. But still very beautifull.

MarcoM

MarcoM, all tracks are opened for speed lap events after you complete single player campaign. You don't need elite pass each and every event for that.
Btw, if there is another altima race - I just don't remember, but there should be - with lower speed class, try it! Nail it! At lower speed this track will be easier for you, now that you tried it at higher speed.

Temet, thanks for your answer.

The first time you can race at Altima is the first race in the 2050 season. It's a 3 lapper at A speedclass. The last race is also also as speedclass A race on Altima. For normal I have to finish in 2nd place. But it is just too hard for me. :(

chalovak

I guess in your case you can ignore all the other ships, wait for them to disappear from your view right from the start, and just start practicing on this track without anyone around.

Temet
4th July 2012, 08:33 AM
I don't get it man, when you have a boost, save it for the "big jump" shortcut. This one is terrific and will save you a lot of time.
Take the first shortcut on the left at the beginning, and of course the one on the right at the end.
Absord and Barrel Roll like a freak!

Damn... I unlocked sol a+ challenge! Crazy stuff, but so satisfying. Still, got problems with a left section right after the first fork. Sometimes my ship just goes flying unable to land. This is the only place on this track I suck at. Need a heavier ship, I guess.

OveReAction

Try a Fighter ship. It's not that fast, but it's weight beats it all.

Hey, MarcoM, how are the things with Altima?
What if I create an Altima (A class) race party and invite you, do you think it might help you with your practise on this track?
How about today's evening?

OveReAction
6th July 2012, 07:46 AM
You can't create the game and customize the race settings in online mode on 2048. You just get directly to a random lobby after selecting a node. But Speed Lap is the only option cause it's a perfect mode for practice and has infinite number of laps.

chalovak
6th July 2012, 08:17 AM

Guess what: I did it!!! On my first try this morning I became 3rd. On my second run, I was in 1st in lap 3. I kept cool and kept position. YEeeeeHAAAA

Now at least I can do time trials on a b c levels and on all tracks. I wonder how A+ is. I kinda am used to A speed class now.

Well, that's how 2048 works. At least for me.
At first even C class was surprisingly fast, but now all these A+ challenges seem beatable. ) You literally feel how you evolve (wipeout wise, of course) with this game, lol.

On the lower left corner of the grid I have now the ABC time trials for all 10 tracks.

When I get to rank 25 the A+ speed challenges will be unlocked, as you stated previously. Will beating these add A+ time trials on the lower left part of the grid?

A+ speed laps will open either with the first A+ challenge, or earlier.
I don't remember. But I am 100% sure you don't have to beat these A+ challenges to unlock A+ speed laps.
So, you will get a chance to practice before cracking these challenges.

Temet

Regarding speed, you'll probably be suprised with the gap between A and A+.

I think at level 25 you unlock the first A+ challenge.
Then you unlock one challenge every level.

May I ask a general question about online competion? I see lots of racers using the Pir-Hana Speed (and one positively blazing pilot who uses a chrome Pir-Hana Prototype...showoff =P) on races and really doing well, but on the other hand I've been doing speed laps of really tight courses like Rockway and the Subway and found the Qirex Speed a better fit, its width notwithstanding.

So the question is, should I practice with the Pir-Hana until I get to the point where I can get more out of that extra tic of speed, or do I stick with what felt like the better fit initially?

leungbok
6th July 2012, 09:29 PM
IMO, below A+, pir-hana speed, pir-hana prototype and feisar prototype are the best ships (in matter of speed).
For A+, ag-systems speed and feisar speed are the best.

Ok... Then i'll unlock my A+ Speed laps as soon as i finish the offline campaign(im at level 16 currently, soon i will get my Pir-Hana Agility. cant wait til i finish the campaign though, once i was 2nd at the third lap, and i was shot by one of the bots having the machinegun just far enough to miss the last skill-cut.

What does ag-systems prototype exactly do?
Double barrel-roll means double turbo when you land?
Extended sideshifts means more handling?
Is it better than ag-systems agility regarding zone mode?
also, is analog or d-pad better for this game?

leungbok
1st January 2013, 06:15 PM
AG-Systems proto have double BR ability, that means his turbo gain is twice powerfull, but in counterpart single BR gives nothing. Extended sideshifts makes the ship faster when you use them in turns, it's not really a handling enhancement IMO. For zone mode maybe this ability can help at some point, but i'm not a zone specialist. On handhelds, wipeout pilots usually prefer d-pad, but use the method you're comfortable with (since vita's analog is way better than psp's), some players (soa-booney i think) have good results with analog stick ;)

Any tips on sol A+ as to where to use turbos, routes, ect. I seemed a bit lost last night when looking at the top times. I know my line isn't perfect, but the turbo/ autopilot placements seem to be way off for me

leungbok

I've managed to get first on 5 of them but they are damn hard I tell ya! Pir-hana Speed might be good on some tracks but I've been most successful with AG-SYS Speed. It's fast AND agile. Stick to one route and just try to get almost clean laps. Remember, rubber-banding is really extreme in both ways when it comes to the opponents. One mistake and you're in the middle of the pack. It all comes down to that last lap. Lap 1-9 are just not that important. If you get a turbo in lap 7, 8 or 9 try saving it to the last lap. That's when you'll make your move! On the final lap just boost and barrel roll and try to keep that first position over the finish line. Always barrel roll when you can and absorb pick ups like crazy!

Ok first of all yes, you literally have to eliminate every AI ship in a Campaign Race, not a Combat. The way to do it is get in the Qirex Prototype (the one that doesn't pick up weapons but has unlimited machine guns). Then go to the very first race of the campaign, weapons off at Empire Climb.

You have a full grid of weaponless ships, and a big bloody machine gun. Stay at the back and tear them to pieces one by one. Enjoy!

I'm a bit lost with regards to that jump to the right of the sign. Where do you end up landing? Also, the physics go bonkers with pitch control

leungbok
18th January 2013, 01:37 PM
The best is the sooner before the small jump at the end of the glass section, nose down before the jump (right side shift can helps to keep a good line) if you don't want to fly too high and respawn !

JABBERJAW
18th January 2013, 02:09 PM
Thanks! That might be an issue for me as I use 1 airbrake because of the control options. When you side shift with 1 airbrake your ship turns as well. This causes issues with holding lines sometimes ( mainly correcting your line when you are off by a little

guess I'm not the only one trying that :P
but the fighter ships can't keep up with it, quakes are very rare if you go agi and their speed is too low at that level, if you go with speed ships single rocket is just useless and have fun trying to cannon someone at that speed and still keeping a good line, aiming a good plasma can make you hit the walls, just not worth it, you are better absorbing them to do the gazillion barrel rolls on most maps
altima challenge is just practice, there is a youtube video with some guy doing insane amounts of barrel rolls on that challenge and you can pull some of them with practice and things like pitching your nose up, sideshitfting into the speed pad right at the top before the track goes down and goes around that cruise ship(?)

Try Queen's Mall, it's the next easiest challenge after the ones you've mentioned. The only problem is the last curve there (track is narrowed there, watch out for possible collisions that might slow you down), right before finish, but after some practice it will be easy to nail it.
The only tip that worked and works for me is just practice.
Try time trials for the tracks that seem diffucult, try them at A class first, then when you are able to "perfect lap" 5 laps in a row switch to A+ speed and repeat. Then go for challenges.
Oh, and another advice: try to hit the green pads: turbo and autopilot can be crucial sometimes and really helpful.

Altima and Sol are very easy tracks to succeed in the A+ Challenge. All A+ challenges are easy when you become first place, in all honesty the biggest obstacle is just getting ahead of them because of their tendency to shove you around and launch missiles and such is so distracting. Altima and Sol offer an abundance of barrel roll opportunities to allow you to get ahead of everybody else. I have a few tips to help succeed in these events.

Altima

The first thing you should do before you cross the line is shift over to the far left. This will allow you to handle the corners at the beginning without much airbrake use. Make sure you just miss the far right bend and turn sharply right to enter the first skill cut. Here make sure you keep airbraking to a minimum, hitting the right wall is much better than hitting the left one. Experiment with different ships to see how much airbraking needs to be done to get through cleanly. After the barrel roll you should be in 5-7th place already. When you get to the Altima Drop pull the nose up to lift you onto the second level. reaching this means that you don't need to travel all the way down to the bottom of the chasm and back up again. You'll also have much less airtime which would prevent you from gaining too much air resistance from flying. This should put you in 1st-3rd place.

The final skillcut is much more easy to enter than the one near the start but more difficult to make it through cleanly. Firstly, it's a good idea to turn your craft to the left as you fly into it, just as if you are taking the original corner too late. The instant you enter the tunnel tap the right airbrake to get you through the corner. As soon as you see the light at the end of the tunnel sideshift onto the speedpad to exit.

Sol

Other than "Don't fall off"...
Take the left route at the tracksplit. Keep to the left and time your pitch downward so you can barrel roll as you hit the end of that part of the track before you fly down to the track again in which case you can barrel roll a second time before reaching it. If you have a turbo after you reach the second skillcut you can ignore it altogether and aim for the other side of this large corner past all the arrow signs, pull the nose up and barrel roll in mid air. You should land perfectly on the other side of the track. Otherwise take the skillcut. (Don't do this if you have pilot assist on, even "Normal" pilot assist, it will try to pull you back onto the track and will slow you down making you fall. Shouldn't really be using it in the first place though). The final skillcut is one of the most risky in the entire game. This is what would make this track ideal for the AG Systems Speed or FEISAR Speed as the airbrakes will try to pull you down so for heavier ships you'll need to be twitchy with them. Light ships however should handle this fairly easily.

I hope at least some of this was beneficial to someone. Took me a long time to put together.

Hello Wipeout Fans!

I have come back to play Wipeout 2048 since some months ago, and I'm trying to master the expansions HD & Fury.

But the fact is that I'm unable to understand how the Detonator Mode works in the Fury DLC. The manual doesn't explain so much, and I don't know how to use the EMP, whatever it is.

I have realized that when passing over the pannels you begin to activate this EMP, and after some of them the girl-narrator tells you that this is activated. So then I would like to use it, but I don't know how to do it. I did it once, and at that moment I thought that it could be by pressing the "x", but didn't work again.

If anybody could explain it... I would thank it a lot, because without it I am not so sure about earning the gold medals in those events.

PS. The Fury expansion is beautiful, though I don't like too much those combat events. On the other hand the HD expansion is great by any point of view. I haven't PS3 so I'm so happy to play it in the Ps Vita.

Good on you for not liking Eliminator/Combat. It's terrible, stick to the racing, Zone, and Detonator (see? There's plenty else to do! ;P)

I gave up on 2048 so I haven't played its version of Detonator, but I imagine it would be activated by the right analogue stick, sort of like how you flip your ship around in the aforementioned modes I don't think much of.
But anyway, Detonator's objective is to chain-destroy the mines. You have a score multiplier that, when you hit mines consecutively, goes up; i.e. the more mines you hit without missing, the higher your score (reloading resets your multiplier). You also get bonus points for destroying the "bomb", a big mine that stands out and of which there is one in a random location in each lap for a total of 14 if you complete the Detonator event (as they end after 14 laps). Of course, the faster you go, the harder it will be to aim and chain together mine disposals, so you'll have to rely on spamming your cannon and the EMP in the later laps. The EMP destroys mines in front of you for a distance dependent on your charge level (which you gain over weapon pads), but those destroyed are not added to your chain-streak.

One last word of advice, though: you will not master HD/Fury on the Vita. Its framerate is terrible compared to the console version, and the controls are much worse than a 6axis or DS3. That said, if you're having fun, knock yourself out.

Push right analogue stick up to activate the EMP. The low framerate and controls make the HD Fury expansion to the Vita more difficult than the campaigns on the PS3 version. Elite gold on the Detonator events is a real challenge!

indeed, it is a very tough challenge. still haven't completed both modesto elite and tech de ra elite. i believe i can get tech de ra, but modesto is a real bitch ,cause the sidewalls are broken. they don't reflect your shots like in the PS3 version of the game, so most of your shots vanishes in the out of bounds segments of the track :(

Thank you very much to all of you! Using the right analog was simply the answer I was looking for! I don't think it would have been so difficult to write it in the manual but...

With that tip I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, at least in the easy categories!

For me the elite events are too tough in the Fury DLC. And well, I just don't care too much about them, as I don't really like so much these kind of events, except of course the races, the lap times and the zone ones ;-).

In the HD DLC, on the other hand, I am trying to earn everything in the elite category, but the last ones are really tough. I am sure that some day, with practice, I will reach that trophies.

Thanks again for all your advises!

For the 2050 final, I used the AG Systems speed. (as usual) And my strategy was to use PURE SPEED (extremely bad joke) meaning I absorbed any offencive weapon I could get my hand on (unless there was someone in front of me) and barrel rolled every chance I got. This strategy made me win by 4 secounds first try.

So I just got off from spending the guts of an hour tearing my hair out trying to beat the Pir-Hana head-to-head, yelling all sorts of profanities at the screen as the AI used every cheap trick in the book to stay ahead. Max speed from launch? Check. Max speed around all corners? Check. Shrugging off missiles? Check. Nothing I tried seemed to be working. Every time I got in front I would immediately take a missile up the jacksie and watch helplessly as he tore past again. Even hanging on to a missile and waiting until the final straight didn't make a difference as it wouldn't slow him down enough, if at all.

However, finally I cracked it. You can't beat him in a fair race, you just can't. The cheating AI on display is just so blatant it isn't even funny. The solution? Hang back and constantly missile his ass. I don't think I've ever been as happy to hear the CONTENDER ELIMINATED as I was about twenty minutes ago :P

Has anyone here elite golded Modesto reverse detonator? vita version.

not sure why but i have trouble getting 320k,let alone 250k, if you got it tips please share :)

multibodydynamics
11th April 2017, 07:31 AM
I have elite golded everything except 3 detonator events. One of them is Modesto reverse. It is plain impossible to reach the gold goal in my opinion. Luckily it doesn't effect any trophy. I believe that the main reason for that difficulty spike is that there are no ricochets against the walls like in the PS3 version. That is a BIG difference and makes it extremely difficult to hit mines in or beyond corners.

Racingfan
11th April 2017, 10:42 PM
okay thanks. i try them after i elite golded rest of them... i think if you do full combo at first 3 levels and reach to like level 13 it may be possible

Is modesto reverse the hardest of all?

multibodydynamics
12th April 2017, 08:08 AM
Tech de Ra reverse elite gold is the worst one. It was even difficult on the PS3!

Racingfan
16th April 2017, 05:41 AM
got tech de ra reverse gold 3rd try :D

499k :D

at least the bullets can ricochet on tech da ra :D

EDIT: did another try on modesto reverse and got 310k. i was only 10k away from gold :(

EDIT2: just got 363450 out of 320k required to gold and reached level 14

tip to get good score is to get good score combos on first 3 levels then manually reload before every turn then reload before a straight road with mines then after level 8-9 start using ur emp just before the mag strip part so u dont get hit so easily after mag strip and its very fast to recharge emp. it really isnt so bad after all... around same difficulty as tech de ra now imo

..gl if you're trying :D

Racingfan

vita

if sony didnt lock 2048 on pstv i would have recorded the run :(

and i dont think you can download hd/fury dlcs on henkaku anyway :( plus i dont have a pstv thats under 3.60

multibodydynamics
16th April 2017, 09:47 PM
Henkaku is for 3.60 and 3.60 only. It is super easy to use and the PSTV uses the same memory card and file system as the Vita so the HD Fury DLC works. I'm also playing Pure and Pulse with all DLC and 1/XL/3 with no problems. I played some Detonator but I'm struggling a lot. I managed to get one elite gold though so I guess practise might make it possible. :)

wow, i forgot that dlc/patches is stored on memory card, thanks! now i want to order a new pstv thats under 3.60 so i can manually update it to 3.60 and record some :)

First events of detonator isnt so bad IMO

i only need modesto fwd,talons fwd,corridon 12 and syncopia detonators now :D

I did the hd/fury elite gold everything... except 1 speed lap each category because i want omega collection platinum to be a trophy milestone and im very close to the number so i dont want those trophies... yet ;)

anyway off topic... is that emulator 60 fps for ps1 games? would love 2097 60 fps ;)

Nice going! I didn't even think it was possible. Yes, Adrenaline is 60 fps. But I think PAL is in 50 fps so you should use XL in that case.

I have a question. If you pick a ship with low speed in Zone mode. Will it make it easier, like your ship wont go too fast and because of that you can handle better and wont crash in walls.

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask, but I've been playing 2048 lately (for the first time too), and I've finished the campaign with elite passes. I got the chrome liberies, however, I heard there are still more liveries to be unlocked for all the ships by playing online. Due to console (PSTV) and region problems (dead/nonexistent servers), I cannot access multiplayer. Given that 2048's servers are closing next year, I wanted to ask; are the multiplayer unlocks only really unlockable through multiplayer? Is it possible to share Vita save files with all liveries unlocked like in the old PSP/PS3 days?

There is one more skin that is exclusive to the online mode. The online skin in 2048 is the second skin in omega collection when playing on a fresh new save. The requirements is to unlock all nodes or pass every single one, im not really sure about the exact requirements though, but its one of those requirements. You can use the node glitch by just spamming the arrows on final result screen to unlock like 5 nodes each game to see if that works.

The issue with the skin is, it's tied to the online campaign file, not your save data. Once you log off & quit the game and restart, the skin is gone from your file, you have to log in and it be available for you again. Once the servers close, your skin is lost forever. It's because the online progress is not tied to your save data.

You can't play online on PSTV anyways, Because when the game asks you to take a picture or not during online, the game crashes. However you can use the skins on PSTV, you just have to do the requirements on a psvita.

Well this is an abnormal method. I suppose I won't be missing anything too special, then. Thanks anyway.
