So,many people like the game's weapons and how they behave,but do you wish there was a brand new weapon? I've had many thoughts these days,but I will only show you guys one of them as an example,as more people reply I will gradually show more of them.

Effects: an small,rectangle-shaped hole is placed on the track,if someone gets too close a wall pops out of it and makes the person crash
Damage:10 Absorb:25

Name:Fiery Boost
Type:Green or Pink
Effects:Makes your ship start catching fire and speeds up 300km/h for 5 seconds,while if you crash with someone it damages the opponent's ship heavily (also hurts your ship,since your on fire)
Damage:35 Absorb:60

i think ur first suggestion existed already in a little bit different version in wip3out. it was called 'forcewall' or something like that.
i still have hopes for another 'full' new edition of wipEout, not this 30fps BS 2048 obviously will be. i mean a 'BIG' wipEout with 60fps (120 for 3d version) hopefully for PS3, but PS4 would be great too :) until then, i'll stay with wipEout HD, still plenty of 'work' to accomplish.

maybe the devs of this future wipEout game reading this forum, and maybe they'll take some of the suggestions and implement them into their game

How about a weapon that damages all players proportionally to how many weapons they've fired or how much damage they've done to other players in that race? Maybe if it was as overpowered as the rest of the weapons, it'd discourage the mindless weapons spam that spoils so many races. :D

Not likely, considering what 2048's focus is (Weapons) that they'd put a weapon going against it.
Also that seems a bit too far reaching and like a win button.

It would only be a "win button" if the other players were weapons spammers, though. If you raced well with minimal weapons use, it would barely affect you. Not wanting others to have the win button would be a good incentive to use the weapons only where necessary, rather than being rewarded for crapping them all over the track, as it is now.
But it wasn't really a serious idea, anyway. :D

Now,i'm almost sure this one isn't in any of the other games:

Effects:A light ball is shot from your ship,heading on the opposition.If it hits,the screen of the victim gets all white for 3 seconds.

How about a weapon...Global Drain from WipEout Fusion drained everyone to critical.

The screen white out has never existed to my knowledge, but there have been several control altering weapons in the games, some of which affected the camera. Electro Bolt and Disruption Bolt to name a few.

Yeah, that was a horrible weapon :D. But that's because it drained everybody, not just weapons spammers. I'd like to see something that discourages overuse of weapons and allows better racing to take place.

Weapons off? Green weapons?
No offense but if you race with weapons on, it's understood that there will be combat and racing. Weapons off = only racing.
But that's an age old debate again.

I don't hate weapons in Wipeout, so I don't argue for their removal. I just hate how unbalanced they make the game, due to being so overpowered and many peoples' tendency to spam them. If they only slowed you a little and did a little damage, I'd like them (I like them in the first game, and they're okay in a couple of others). Tactical use of them would be fun and interesting. But the way they are now, I consider them annoying and that they spoil many races. ;)

Nah,too cheap! What if you work your way up to a 15 sec gap and someone uses that weapon and you lose?

It can,at least,teleport you to the first place,about 0.7 seconds ahead of the leader :nod

Worm Hole as seen in Rollcage.

Pretty much you charge and shoot a worm hole that guides itself to the person in front of you (Doesn't go through walls or turn too fiercely). If it snatches them it forces them through the worm hole directly behind you. The catch is the worm hole stays open for a small period of time so if there are people behind you they can also use it to catch up to you.

I believe the other version of this used in Rollcage Stage II was instead of shooting the worm hole, you used it to teleport in front of the person ahead of you and anyone behind you could use it to get ahead of them as well (For a short time).

It's really gimmick and would make me rage online (Would **** up world records too), but I always thought it was a really neat addition to an offline game. By no means am I serious about wanting to see this added. It's the same way I feel about Quake. It's really cool looking and I can't help but use it, but I think it's sort of gay at the same time.

A weapon that makes you slower when you BR (but it must be a weapon which require some skills to use, like plasma or canon) ;)

I think its time to revive some other older threads ;) how about this?


weapon type - Defensive (Blue)
Damage - 25+8x10
Absorb - 35%

This is your standard bomb with a twist, hitting this weapon causes it to pull off the same affects as a normal bomb. However it then releases 10 small grenades onto the track causing further damage to the craft and catching any other pilots in the near vicinity.

Its like: Noob! You hit a bomb, now f*** you and take this grenades XD

Gravity Smasher

Weapon Type: Offensive
Damage: Indirectly
Absorb: 43%

This weapon disables the Anti-Gravity generator under the ship for 7 Secounds and automaticaly activates a turbo (If the vicim has a turbo activated it will discard) causing the ship to scrab over the track surface and smash into the next wall and grinde along it.
Draining round about 30% shield energy and causes sometimes a dead halt.

Not to adversite or anything but a few of your ideas can be found in SlipStream GX more or less... The white light flash idea with an EMP that interrupts camera frames, the wormhole idea almost like described, and also the EMP turns off your AG device randomly, or locks control and thrust and you can only watch how your ship travels into the wall :D

Weapon name: Timeline Snapshot
Weapon Type: Green
Damage: 0%
Absorb: 15%
Appearance: Very rare [5% case]

When activated, a snapshot of the current situation of the game gets taken [without the player being able to notice]. The race continues for 5 seconds. After those 5 seconds, the game fast-rewinds to the snapshot point like the 5 seconds didn't happen. But what you saw in this 5 seconds will happen exactly the way you saw it. So you can foresee the moves of the AI and avoid dropped stuff or place precise rocket shots.
If the enemy uses this pickup, of course you would not notice any of the "forecasting" or rewinding, it's just like that certain AI ship reacts more instantly to things you do or other ships do like that triggerer ship knew what would happen.
Of course this pickup is unavailable in multiplayer races.

A bit too complicated maybe :D Got that idea from the "Time Dilator" in Fatal Inertia EX.

Damage: 50-100%
Absorb: Not Avaiable (F9000)

The dangerous superweapon of Jennter Enterprises during the F9000 League. It locked on a enemy ship and shots some protones into it.
This causes the material of the ship to change and the whole construction becomes instable.

The super weapon of Wyvern AR, this is a guided missile that isn't designed to directly damage a ship but can cause long term problems. Instead it targets the crafts airbrakes and destroys one of them entirely. This means the airbrake removed cannot be recovered for the remainder of the race and leaves the ship incapable of turning sharply in that direction. It will also disable side shifts in the direction of the lost airbrake.

While this loss is manageable in the lower speed classes, this weapon can have devastating consequences on phantom class and technical circuits.

OK, I'll use this thread to give more info on the Angelus special weapon, the LazerMG.Deluxe, or Laser Cannon, since Jonny and Snake (part of the Faster Than Angels fan-fic) gave theirs.

Type: Offensive
Damage: 50% (1 per round)
Absorb: 33%
Rounds: 50
Angelus: 80% chance
Others: 0% chance

Angelus Research and Development are a team that prefer to win through speed, as opposed to violence. However, they are not afraid to dish out some damage if they so need. The special weapons system on board their FX400 ship, the KA-AGR1, ensure that the ship is as lightweight as possible, but this has a drawback. It can only use certain weapons. To remedy this, the team have developed their own lightweight, yet powerful weapon for use in the FX400.

Model LazerMG.Deluxe, or the Laser Cannon, is a lighter alternative to the standard Cannon. Using highly advanced laser technology, this weapon, if completely emptied on a rival, can eliminate them if they aren't careful. The Laser Cannon performs almost exactly to the Cannon, except it has 50 rounds instead of 30, and has a higher rate of fire.
