Rayman 1 menu theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hoy_vms6Fqc)

Driver 2 song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdHJEgO9lVY). lol it sounds awful now

And several from MGS 1, mainly because MGS was incredible and i love the slightly naff sounding synth :D, it seemed to fit really well though and it had a orchestral sort of vibe to it. Dun dun dundundun!

Alert (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWMpeBSxfnQ) Sometimes i would purpously get caught to hear it :D
Rex's Lair (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=synBp17IGfo) Always reminds me of Minefields by the Prodigy. also having to sort out the PAL key, freezing it and heating it

And finally from MGS 2 the boss battle theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkhJjbimL5E). love the drum and bass style. and fighting Fatman on his rollerskates :g

Basically if i had the time i would end up listing every mgs 1 and 2 song here, used to play them with my friends all the time :D :g

...this song reminds me of those few times when my heartbeat ran that fast, so terribly terribly interesting, warm skin a cool breeze and the feel of brown leather, seeing the alternative version of myself and realizing which way I could have gone and so glad I didn't. So a heartbeat reminds me of a lot. And why am I logging in here so much lately, and why do we post things here that we don't say out loud? Time to go.

Oh, where do I begin? Play me any track from Final Fantasy IX and X, and I'm hit with a big wave of nostalgia.

I played a lot of Sega GT in my dreamcast (It was my first console ever, when I was 8 ).
These are some of the most nostalgic for me:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J32q264ISIQ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1COz1509TC0&feature=related

And this one on the oval track with the Viper GTR2000 doing 300 KPH.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16iw9cN-Xr0&feature=related

And toy commander, also for DC:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKB1TI1PxgI&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQFh_h3J408&feature=related

When I found this soundtrack on youtube... I have no words to describe the feelings...

Sadly I can't play these games on DC anymore because it started shuting down from overheating and there were no available parts anywhere, back in 2004... Since then, I'm a PS guy, but it just isn't the same thing.

Haha, Alex Kidd was awesome. :D
That weird music from the castle is the best (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1Uw-YdnvxY&feature=related). Makes me remember all the "!!!!?!?!?!?!" that that level caused at first. :lol
I'll always remember the music from some other Master System games too, like Sonic and Sonic 2, Asterix, Action Fighter, Spy vs Spy, and The Ninja.
Also, a few Playstation games. Final Fantasy VII and VIII, Colony Wars, Discworld Noir.

If you have played the game and know what happens, then you will know why this music brings back memories of the biggest emotional shock I've ever had in gaming.

I hear you blackwiggle, i could say it was the only time i was sad because of a a video game. FFVII is still a great game after all these years, i even bought it on PS3 :).

One of my memory triggers is Gun Star Heroes - Level 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1HwVKrdeKY&playnext=1&list=PL5046369BEA353DBF)

that melody gets me everytime.

How could I forget Wonderboy 3's music, after spending so many hours on it as a kid?! :D
My favourite music in it is probably:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPGC2oIPHcs&feature=related&t=1m08s

I noticed you posted some F-Zero music too. Yeah, that game had a great soundtrack. The Death Wind tracks had the best music IMO; really tense atmosphere. I have a few F-Zero tracks on my Wipeout soundtrack, actually.
Haha, it's the only game that my dad plays (he's not a gamer at all, but he discovered this about 12 years ago or so), and he always goes on about how good the music is. :D

I think that only the first Master System Sonic was released in the US. The system was discontinued by the time the second came out (we also got a third game, Sonic Chaos, over here, but the quality wasn't as high as the first two). They're well worth checking out, as they're quite different games to the Mega Drive/Genesis versions, rather than just bad ports. ;)

Hearing the music from some of these NES games makes me feel that I missed out by not getting a Nintendo system as a kid (although I did play the Mario games and a few others at friends' houses, so I remember those being great). But then the Master System was well supported in Europe and had more games that I was interested in, so that was what I went for.

I was the complete opposite Alex, I had nothing but nintendo systems, except for ataris which I had way b4 nintendo. I never owned any sega system or any other console for that matter until I got my PS3 a couple years ago. That being said, I still played tons of master system and Genesis at my cousins house or at a friends house. I'd just take my NES or they would bring their Sega and we had the best of both worlds. Hell, I didt even want the nintendo. I had my heart set on a Tandy Computer of some sort, but instead I get a nintendo and was like"What the Hell is This". Turned out to be the most awesome thing I ever got:rock

Stalker Call of Pripyat, whilst recent, has some amazing music when you start fighting. Although it doesn't being a nostalgic feeling as such, it gives an adrenaline rush of a sort. :rock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zu9_IK9a8jQ&NR=1)

Each time I listen this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-f3mOnwzIas), beautiful memories come. An epic song from an epic game I really like since my childhood (and I still play it :)).

And I also like this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOx1HJJ-Y8M) pretty much from another game I love too.

Super Probotector - Alien Rebels' entire soundtrack is pretty much the epitome of early 90's awesomeness, but this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yG1_SaAID2Y), and the level it's from are probably the highlights.

Recently playing Sonic Generations made me go back over the old soundtracks to the original Sonic games on the Mega Drive - absolute classics. Hearing Emerald Hill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vaBxXCH9b8) from Sonic 2 takes me right back to the first time I ever turned the Mega Drive on at the age of about 7. Love Hydrocity 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPYzgCI6Q1I)as well from Sonic 3.

During the SNES period, I was playing mainly fighting games.
So, here are two themes that trigger me a lot of memories :
- Street Fighter 2 ending theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJp6cupoUWk)
- Killer Instinct main theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avPSzGVCPH0) (best fighting game ever! if you don't agree, you're just wrong :g )

@Flint : I had it on game boy!
I was named Ballon Kid and was hard (well, impossible would be more right)... the music was the same ;)

Temet: Funny you should mention Killer Instinct, only the other day I found a fantastic remake (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OrZA2o_4t4) of it. Definitely took me back, I used to listen to the soundtrack CD that came with the game a lot :)

A couple more from me:
Super Mario Land - World 1 and 3 Overworld (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_-HvB3zbC4) : This is a similar case to Sonic 2 for me in that it was the first game I ever played on the Game Boy. Got it on Christmas day at 5 years old.
Megaman X - Central Highway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jIPUdmOR9A) and Spark Mandrill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwe9n4Den7M&feature=related) : Despite owning an NES I actually never got my hands on any of the Megaman games, so X was my first introduction to the series. Loved the soundtrack, but these two stood out.

Temet
11th December 2011, 11:36 AM
Indeed, that's a good remake. There's plenty of it on youtube, it was a great guitar riff.
Super Mario Land music is also special, it's the first video game I had (excluded game and watches). I had an old TV without scart so I couldn't plug any console.
The musics from Megaman X... ah ah, I loved this game!! For me, you had to get the "hadoken" to finish the game.

Flint Fandango

@Temet: Ah, great! I didn´t have a gameboy at that time, but I´ve just seen a gameplay video of Balloon Kid on YT! ;)
Looks very hard indeed, but the level design is much more diversified and circumstantial than the NES version.
I´ll never understand Nintendo and their bizarre products. :|

@Flint : yep, I watched a video yesterday too.
The guy is running the full game without losing 1 life, at without missing a single ballon!
I remembered I was dying in level 7... I learned yesterday that there is only 8 levels :g Too bad!

EDIT : I just searched for ballon fight, it's a different game!!!

Flint Fandango
11th December 2011, 04:10 PM
@mdhay: Question answered. :lol

@Temet: I know, but the balloon trip option in Balloon Fight is related to the gameplay in Balloon Kid, imo.

I´ll remember Balloon Fight as a crappy game with a haunting melody. :twisted
