So, sonic 4 has finally arrived.

anyone got it? verdict.

i played the demo this morning, and while sega got the look spot on, sonic himself looks a bit off and the physics are strange. as a big fan of sonic 1, 2, 3 & knuckles it almost gets it right, but it feels too loose controlling him.

and for 1200 microsoft points, this is priced completely wrong for a downloadable episodic sonic game!!!

still, sega, it's a step in the right direction :)

anyone have any thoughts on this one.

May buy if they release a BD with all the episodes.
I don't do digital distribution.

I do like it, but as a huge fan of the classic games the whole thing feels very... stiff. Not sure how to describe it, but there seems to be no such thing as momentum in this game. In the classic games, it was easy to charge up a speed dash and have Sonic blaze through half the stage on momentum alone. Here, he grinds to a halt in no time at all if you aren't holding the stick.

Should I link to AG-Wolf's video or can you go to his Youtube Channel to find out what he thinks about it? :g

Just seen it :lol He's absolutely right in every respect, and of course then follows underneath the video all the juvenile comments by the usual cretinous blobs that have more teeth than brain cells.

I laughed in places. At first I thought it was going to be nitpicking stuff that I wouldn't notice. But some of that so called 'physics' is just weak. Not just for a Sonic game, but generally.

just tried the demo which it was a huge dissapointment, the demo only lets you play the first stage lol the game looks fun on its retro looking but the gameplay feels quite slow and sometimes a little unconvincing

atm is way too expensive in my opinion $15 a lot of games has been released at that price lately im quite angry about that.

After beating it in one evening I'd say I enjoyed Sonic 4 as it does its job as a 2D Sonic game.

It does have weird physics that make little sense, which as AG-Wolf said are quite annoying. I don't get why the ball physics are incapable of gaining momentum when in the Megadrive games that's the way you gained speed, but in Sonic 4 you can get up a hill much easier by walking.

I found the level design to be good, with the Labyrinth level being the best of them. It doesn't bother me too much that they use the same styling as previous levels, they're still fun to play.

Last part is a spoiler, so beware: Perhaps the worst part of the game is the silly last boss, which is difficult for the wrong reasons, and is somehow much worse than its Sonic 2 counterpart as it takes too many hits and has an unpredictable ending that made me want to rage a little bit.

Just finished it, and I've got to say I think aside from the physics in the game, my biggest gripe by far is the complete lack of originality. Surely if it was intended to be a continuation of the series it wouldn't be too much to ask for some original stuff? I mean, come on:

Spash Hill = Green Hill (Sonic 1)
Casino Street = Casino Night (Sonic 2)
Lost Labyrinth = Labyrinth (Sonic 1)
Mad Gear = Metropolis (Sonic 2)
EGG Station = Death Egg (Sonic 2)

The only thing it seems they haven't ripped from the old games is the actual level layout...
