people who give (many valuable) things away sometimes do so as a final departing act before committing suicide. In this case, selling EVERYTHING rings similar bells. kinda scary to me.

This has been done before. Check out www.allmylifeforsale.com (http://www.allmylifeforsale.com). In that case, the guy was a severe pack-rat who decided to clean house, so he got some friends to catalog everything in his house, and put each individual thing up on ebay. It was far more interesting, because he wrote a short history for each item, and invited every buyer to send him updates on their item after they'd purchased it, which he put on a website (and eventually in a book).

And if this guy is Bill Gates, I would imagine that 24/7 access to his brain comes wth an EULA the size of a phone book! ;)
