New ZICO Challenge

call me insane or even pervert, but i have an idea of a new challenge. beat ZICO (30.82) with ur first lap! free choice of ship. that means: u have to start after 3,2,1,GO; no BSB-BR into lap; no boost-BR into lap; no boost into lap; no nothing into lap! ghost is required to proof ur lap to be legal! my best so far is 31.45 with ICARAS. little problem here, i don't know where to upload the ghosts. :(

This challenge does sound impossible. If you can't do it Jan being the current record holder, or at least the last time I checked, it will be very difficult. I might give it a shot but I won't be expecting any good results, my best with barrel rolls is 30.72! :lol

wow, some fast replies here. it's a definitive possible challenge, otherwise i wouldn't have posted it here. it's still possible to do 5 BRs (6or7 with extreme luck) in the attempt to beat ZICO in the first lap. the 1 who will achieve this, can call herself/himself the true master, a real Z1CO! ;)

I'm pretty sure the boost over the start line is essential. But then, I'm not an Anulpha specialist...

@ Plazarou: the boost (and all variations of it) into lap makes it alot easier to get the ZICO-trophy, but it's not essential. i did my 31.45 first lap in TT-mode, followed by 2 ZICO-laps (30.4-5). that means i passed the start/finish-line with maxspeed of 460+Xkm/h. but u r right, it's a superhard challenge, and that's exactly the reason why i posted it here, cause the best WHD-pilots of the world come together in this forum. so i think here is the right place to announce it :)

update: 31.36 with !6BRs! - ship: ICARAS. was a pretty poor lap with alot of minor mistakes. did !4BRs! in the tunnel section, but the last wasn't really good, so i lost a bit time there. :( update2: 31.18 - ICARAS - 5BR - 14SP. getting closer (0.36), but now i know it has to be a 6BR-lap to achieve my goal. it's even harder as i expected. :)

BRs have become so easy now, not only online, even offline-BRs. almost every try is a success! i believe, i can defeat my own ZICO-WR (28.15) even without the ability of doing B-S-B-BR, cause the "extra-BRs" re alot easier now (still very hard, of course). :mr-t

finally i got ZICO with my first lap in TimeTrial. 30.77 - ICARAS (black/red/HD) - !6BarrelRolls! - 9SideShifts - 14SpeedPads - Perfect Lap. :robot says: "WARNING" - "WARNING" - "WARNING". now i will shock u guys! i believe a 29.9x is possible (min.8BRs required/i think max.9,maybe 10BRs re possible in the first lap).

Even without the BSB, with the double BR on the bridge (or triple), a sub 28 is
now possible! (I did 28.86 without BSB and while missing 2 other BR).

phaeton, here are 2 BR that you can add: possible to double the BR after the
initial boost, and possible to double the BR after the bridge.

There are other possible BRs (4) but then you need to boost before the tunnel.

Zico is completely unstoppable and impossible to beat. My time is 30.97 and is nowhere as close to beating Zico. Not even my Piranha Fury can beat the impossible-to-beat Zico, so I might as well submit defeat :(.

i felt the same for about 2 weeks. ~50laps per day without any improvement. watch some more moveis about it, try improve your racing line and you"ll get there eventually!

I did. I watched countless YouTube videos about beating Zico. I tried matching their techniques, but it did'nt helped me beating Zico. That last turn on anulpha Pass is luck-based, whether you land a Barrel Roll or not; that's what gets me intimidated.

ZICO is a hard trophy to get for a begginer, so is Zone Zeus.
You must love Wipeout to get them as they require hours/days of training.

Back in april it took me well over 500 laps (also a lot of pain and tears) :) to get 30.81. 3 months later I was able to get under 29 seconds.

Leave this trophy for a week or month and just race, your lines and skills will improve and Zico won't be a problem any more...

@ shapealot: well, to be honest, the time isn't that much impressive, when u know u r able to cut off a whole sec. 26.xx (maybe 25.xx or 24.xx?) is doable with all lucky BRs! the TT could go down to 1.27.xx. atm. the problem is that luck is needed to achieve those times. who knows, hopefully i'll get that "lucky strike" someday.

@ leungbok: 19.xx on phantom with PIRANHA sounds really hard. give me some time to explore the secrets 4 phantom SL on anulpha. i will give it a go. btw. ur impressive ZICO-video teached me alot about wipEout HD in general in my early days. i have to thank u 4 this.:+

2. after 1st corner, turbo > BR
3.+4. over the hill in tunnel BR > BR
5.+6. onto the bridge BR > BR
7.+8. off bridge BR > SP > BR

that's it.
with extreme luck, it's possible to do a 4xBR-chain onto bridge and off bridge.
after 3.+4. it's possible to add another 2BRs (again extreme luck is needed).
and u can double the 1st into lap and the 2nd after using the turbo.
again, skill isn't enough, u will need to be very lucky.

total 16BRs re possible :D

maybe 1 wont be able to do 16BRs, even if she/he will be lucky, cause she/he will getting low on energy, lol

i finally understand what JF is doing. it was crazy the first time i did the triple but like he said skill alone wont get these BRs, i did 99 laps today and pulled it off about 5 times but still without a good start. im even more impressed by what hes done now, my hats off to you mate :clap
