What's the quickest way to build this up?

I'm rank 10 at the moment, but it's taking forever!

Find a game full of noobs, select a racecraft, and then do NOTHING for the next couple of hours/days, hoping that the room stays on for as long as possible. If the room gets abandoned, find a new one, it's not like they could kick you for sitting idle on the starting grid anyway. Your rank will go up magically, without even having to play this annoying game and actually improving your skills! Wow!

Also, paint a huge L on your forehead.

El, that's a bit harsh, no?

OP You just need to play online to rank up - I'm still lagging way behind other players in rank - and I play a lot. There must be a secret I'm still in the dark on.

Anyhow, I'd literally give you my rank if I could - I don't like it. All I need to satisfy my e-insecurities are leader boards. That tells me how much I suck, the rank just builds up false hope for me. :lol

And - EL - I'm not particularly keen on trophy chasers, or stat padders. But facts are facts - they paid for this game too, and without them, SL may go bankrupt. The fan base for Wipeout is hardcore - but it's not exactly huge. I see padders / chasers as a necessary evil, if it keeps SL in business and cranking out installments in the Wipeout franchise - then give me trophy chasers any day of the week!

Glitchers on the other hand, can FO entirely....

I did not mean to be harsh towards the OP, I'm just generally pissed off at stat padders who sit around idle on the racetrack, sometimes even blocking others. Happens a LOT these days.
If only there was a 'kick' option, that would make things much brighter.

I don't get it... Do you get ranking points even if you finish last in a race? That would be really stupid, if that's the case...

Stupid it is...

Do you progress faster for winning though?

I feel like the ranking system is a little slow also. Wish they hadn't been implemented so late, I would have been rank 50 well before the update came out. Oh well, I like going into races being the underdog (only rank 14 at the moment).

@:bik3rluke: Yepp! Being 1st will dramatically increase percentage gain.

I provided my input/experiences to this topic here

Racing others who has a higher rank than you will increase your rank faster. So I would imagine beating higher ranked wipers would rack up the most points.

This is the first time I have heard about campers who are trying to 'farm' points by not actually playing the game. I myself haven't met any players who camp on the starting line. Yet.

Anyway, I don't see what's the point. Isn't enjoying the game the reason to play it? The rank system's just extra. The camping thing turns this the wrong way around. It's not playing the game or even for achieving anything since, to my knowledge, you don't even get anything for having a level 50 rank.

I'm at level 38 now and I kinda hope the highest rank would be like 500 or at least 100. I'm getting too close to the highest rank :lol . (Yeah I know, still 12 to go and takes a lot of races. But after 50, what then? The rank system becomes obsolete!)

Whoa, this post turned out to be longer than I first intended :lol .

Isn't the ranking system meaningless anyway?

It's not 'ranking' you at all. It just levels up depending on how much time you put into the game. It doesn't judge skill. I've raced against plenty of people ranked 40 or above and they've been pretty slow...

Well, it is a ranking system - but as you wrote not regarding skill but regarding online attendance with some extra that we're not able to judge.

Also I'm not able to rate if an 40 something rank player is a good venom or phantom player. I just know, except for those campers, that he/she is online often. That has positive side effects IMO.

Anyway, for me it's just another goal to reach anytime soon. After going for ultimate ship geek (100k for each ship) I slowly achieved rank 40 or so. Interestingly I improved a lot after that experience. Though, I lost a little bit motivation. But now I found another one ...

I keep seeing rank 51 now. What's the highest rank now?

100 I believe, your life would need to be severely lacking to reach that.

Haha, I'm only level 28 as it is, I can't imagine reaching 100 anytime in the near future. Atleast I don't think, Fury is here after all...

Is there a reward for reaching rank 100? If not im not really interested, there should be a reward of $100 credit on the PSN Store as a loyality reward:nod

Just what would it take to reach rank 100?

about an entire summer length sitting in front of the tellie staying online Wipeout for at least 14hours a day.

On the other hand the more you play the better you get. I think most highranked players (40+) are good but of course lowranked players are not necessarily bad they just play less.

Personnaly I like this system because it gives a clue about the skill, or at least driving experience, of your opponents :) GG SL

If only there was a 'kick' option, that would make things much brighter.I won't share my view again on this shitty ranking system, but at least I must admit that disabling collision for idling ships helps racing a little (hollow ships), but it seems weapons can still hit them tough.
