@Eloï: Are you using the dpad to pull the BRs? Amazing.

@afatsuoM: Yeah leungbok is a robot, a dpad-robot! Damn. But after about four
weeks using the dpad I could improve upon myself, I can now pull the BR on TDR
over the little crest :sonar, but not yet as constant as leugi can do.
Btw; what's your recording set-up? Are you able to do a 60fps recording as well?
I also wanna do a new video going for zone 160 on Syncopia this year. Just a
small advise on AP; do not go too far to the right just before entering the
narrowed section, it really kills a lot of perfect zones otherwise. You actually
have to steer into this corner properly using the stick and using the airbrakes
as less as possible. At very high speeds the slightest touch on the airbrakes
can set you off completely. A good entrance can be found while aligning the
craft with respect to the right line marked onto the track. This line serves
also as a reference. Depending on your position and orientation to this line,
just before entering the right-hand turn, will determine your steering input
through the narrowed section! The overpass is another story. The moment
before jumping of off the ramp your craft carries a certain momentum depending
on your last steering inputs. If you remember this, then you will know exactly
how to steer the craft while running over the overpass. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips! I'll try to adjust my line through the narrow section. Also, the jump to the overpass is indeed tricky due to the momentum. A good line and not having to do any last second adjustments is crucial. Perfect alignment with the overpass section makes things a lot easier. That's easier said than done though... I'll put a new video up as soon as I hit Zone 100.

My setup is easy. I use a Hauppauge HD PVR (http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html), which has a component throughput. It records 720p at 60 fps as well as 1080i at 60 fps. Youtube only supports 30fps though. So before I upload the video, I convert it to 30fps so I don't need to upload too much overhead. That halves my upload time. If someone knows a free online video service that supports 60fps, I'll be glad to upload my video's there.

I just beat Zico on my US account to make a sample video. It took 58 laps this time. Last time, it took a whopping 346 laps. :eek You can find it on my public MobileMe disk (http://public.me.com/m.mansourbaker). The password is my PSN ID (mind the capital M). There's also the WipEout Pure add-on packs if you need them. I will change the password if my bandwidth is exceeded. So be careful.

And here's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1rZCqn46Ic) the Youtube video for comparison. I didn't convert this one to 30fps beforehand. So only the Youtube compression is applied here. Still, the original is much better.

Even if pulse is faster (maybe due to the size of the track/ships), i find it easier than HD. Both are equally great to me (along with pure, they're my 3 favorite Wipeouts) :)

Awesome performance dude!!! :) But how could it be something else than awesome? :P

What strikes me the most is how lucky you are in Shield and Turbo pick-ups. I think only once you've been hit by a Missile. And seems collisions and paint trading aren't affecting you as much as it does for me. I dunno why, but seems i'm plagued with bad luck and the most stupid glitches screw up my races. Hence why i have the poorest performance when i race with my NA Team, for instance.

I could get way much better in this game, but i'm restrained by my uncontrollable bursts of rage because of the unthinkable crap happening to me. Seems like the game is programmed to exclusively piss me off :lol

One more question; when you Turbo above the slalom portion of SC, near Finish line, do you pull down the nose of your craft to almost maximum not to slam your head on the ceiling or do you just wait until you're top of the hill to boost straight away?

Collisions affect me loads. Here's an example:

It was a doubles match so there was far less lag and far fewer collisions going on. Also less people going over weapons pads so more available to pick up. Only 2 people to shoot at me, and even they had to be careful not to shoot at each other. In short, a doubles match is a long way off a normal 8 person race.

I'm surprised I don't have more actually. I did make some private a while back as they had so few views, but I'll unprivatalise them. Some are real old, featuring the likes of Soccermums and chiryu007, a fuzzy digicam picture and clicky noises from me using the stick. :O That actually reminds me that the main reason I even switched to d-pad in the first place was to not get the stick noises in my videos.:lol

I also have a motherload of vids that I never uploaded because of my slow connection.:(

Don't worry, your record is quite old and from what I can see there is still around 0.80 - 0.90 seconds to spare. Pretend you are on ModestoR or Chenghou and you're sorted :+ :)

Can you make video requests in this thread?

I would f***in' love to see a speed lap video of Vineta K> on venom showing how someone got a top 10 (or even top 5!) time. I don't know what I'm doing wrong; it's one of the 4 tracks I aren't in the top 10 with (on venom SL), and I'm so far behind the top time. It's almost as frustrating as Anulpha Pass. It's also the only one I have outside the top 20 as well.

Also, Ubermall>. I've tried boosting on the straight, and it seems to be faster than the classic boost spot, but I find it pretty hard and I don't know if it's as fast as the top times are indicating.

I can crack CP> and AP> on my own I think; though AP> naturally takes a ****ing heap of time and effort still... after 3700 laps and counting... and I still only make the BR onto the bridge ~50% of the time.

Ah well, /rant

I don't think it is, as you get to skip a bit of superfluous surface area in the tracks' vertical curvature by aiming high with your boost. It's probably pretty close in the end though.

Also, after four fiddly as f*** barrel rolls that can go wrong every other attempt, it's less stressful being able to avoid yet another :P

As an aside, funnily enough, even though I used to try the double BR on that crest, none of my PR's on TDR< have ever been done with that method (successfully executed anyway) :lol

Just uploaded my first video from the April 2010 Avalon event. Sorry its taken such a long time - damn real world stuff has been interfering.

Finally figured out how to make it widescreen, so no more black lines down the sides. The race itself came out a bit quiet for some reason, so you might have to turn your volume up a little.

EDIT: Processing's done. The quality is much better if you watch it in 720p - it's not true HD though - I kind of "cheated" with the HD thing, but it seems good enough for YouTube.

Did you upscale the video to 1280x720? I thought that would've decreased quality as the SD output is something around 720x576 for PAL. I suppose youtube plays 720p videos at a higher bitrate, so you avoid the usual heavy compression you get at 480p.

I captured it in the usual 720x576 format then made it into an MPEG file with 16:9 aspect ratio and 1280x720, so I kind of cheated a bit, hence the HD not actually being proper HD :paperbag

I think the best results might come from adding a black border. WipEout videos suffer a bit because they're fast and action packed. With a black border to take it up to 720p you would get the increased bit rate of the HD option, almost none of which would (presumably) be taken by having the black border there. So I guess you'd essentially get a 480p video but with a higher bitrate and therefore better quality....I think....maybe. But don't quote me on that.

I've got 2 more runs recorded already. They just need uploading. One with the red component cable completely removed and one with the blue component cable completely removed. Unfortunately, the green cable needs to stay in place. So not too many possible combinations:

- Swap red and blue (the one I already uploaded)
- Remove blue (ready for uploading)
- Remove red (ready for uploading)
- Remove blue, red plugged into blue port
- Remove red, blue plugged into blue port
- Remove both red and blue

The last option results in a black and white image.

All my video's are recorded in 60fps, but Youtube converts them to 30fps and also a lower bitrate. :( Do you know of any online video service that keeps the 60fps? I could also upload the raw footage to my web space if you really want to have it. The files are around 1GB each.
