View Full Version : Who here has a headset for HD online?

20th September 2008, 04:34 PM
Personally, I initially planned to wait for the 'official' PS3 headset to be released (sometime in October), but actually, I know I'm gonna have to get a headset ready before the 25th. Multiplayer without talking just ain't the same.
So, who here already has a headset, or is getting one before thursday?

I have the Jabra BT125 since Warhawk's release week. Ready to communicate.

Headset is no good to me, because, I`m deaf, so, headset is out of the question!:frown:

But, I just rely on MSN.:pc

I also have the warhawk headset. Put me in the talkers column.

Still gonna wait for the Sony thingy. Will spend some time skilling on and offline before I get serious then. :)

20th September 2008, 05:43 PM
I'll begin with my pseye webcam, waiting for this official headset

20th September 2008, 05:48 PM
I think I'll go with this one (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/gaming/playstation_3/devices/3675&cl=us,en). The PS3 official headset looks cooler, but I remember from the wireless 360 headset that I used to get a sore ear from those ear-clip-on thingies...

80 bucks!? They don't half profit, do they?

20th September 2008, 06:16 PM
I have the PSEye and the Eye Toy, I used them with GTA IV, so I'll use the PSEye with WipEout HD

For some strange reason, this particular headset is a lot cheaper over here...

No headset yet! But a PS3eye to say goodbye!:banzai

20th September 2008, 09:58 PM
Right now I have the Warhawk headset (it sucks) so I'll be using that untill the official headset launches with SOCOM on the 14th of October.

20th September 2008, 09:58 PM
I've got the Gioteck headset, so I'll be using that for HD :)

Wish I had a wireless headset...did someone say there's an official Sony one coming out???

For now, I'm wired...got my really old Socom 2 headset Sony got Logitech to make for the game...yes...I'm still in the Stone Ages for headsets...

20th September 2008, 11:54 PM
To be honest I wished I could use my wired headset, it's so better than my BT one.

I'm waiting for the sony one here. I'll make you laugh reading me for some time before listening to me lol :)

I've ot that one too! It'll do for me for now. Seems a bit of an extravagance to get a wireless one just so I can wear it while I'm making tea... ;)

I might buy the Sony one when it comes out, maybe, I would imagine restraint while using it would be required and thats not so easy sometimes.. :P

Same here. Probably be best to leave the headset til a lil later. Im sure Wipeout HD online would acquire a MA15+ rating, 'We advice that this online session features frequent very course language, that may offend some viewers, and is only suitable for mature aged audiences'.... Lol. This would appear on the loading screen for online races:g

Here in NA it would be something like: 'Game experience may be different in online play' which means that the ESRB didn't rate it.

I want a headset to talk to folks on this board-- but I have no real interest in talking to complete strangers (and in particular, listening to trash talk).

I don't have a headset but may pick up the official Sony one later this fall. Not sure I will bother investing in a headset that doesn't work properly or that will be surpassed by first party hardware in the near future.

For folks looking for options, I found this link-- it walks through the various options, has some reviews and commentary, and steps for set-up.

I'm with you on that one, I'll only be wearing it while in one of our channels.

be good if you could tweak the pitch of your voice for HD...I can't remember if this was done in the general PS3 settings or in-game...I remember tweaking my voice for MGS4...or was it GTA 4??? Can't remember...

I'd tweak my voice to sound like the announcer robot humanoid dude in 2097...

"All your bases are mine..."

EDIT - why is the PSEye important??? Does HD support the Eye??? I have a camera form my Eyetoy days on the PS2...will this help???

21st September 2008, 11:06 PM
Voice pitch adjustment is in the general settings on the PS3.
Eye Toy can work as a mic sure, but as a camera I'm not so sure... It's not compatible with the Eye games, but I don't know if it's compatible or not with Burnout Paradise and it's mugshot feature (Therefore it would mean it can be compatible with regular PS3 games).

22nd September 2008, 08:30 AM
Eye Toy works fully on Singstar, so I guess it can be compatible with PS3 games.

No headset here,

5.1 surround all the way! ;)

23rd September 2008, 12:27 PM
You are gonna voice chat through your sub woofer :guitar ?

23rd September 2008, 02:16 PM
hehe, i dont own a headset.
and not gonna buy one either, mabye in the future...
For now i prefer the SFX and music sounds instead of ppl's voices (or sometimes annoying kiddies with their volume way 2 loud or screaming like a tard (burnout experience)) :D.

Aye its sure a cool thing 2 talk with the wo'z ppl when racing online, and if it works great then ill buy one afterwards.

But 1st i wanna hear your experiences with the voice chat ;)

and btw is it possible 2 mute ppl or mute only 1-2 ppl in the game? anyone can confirm this ?
